RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Police have found a car belonging to a woman reported missing. Reno Police say 19-year-old Madelyn Lingenfelter was seen Wednesday, September 19, 2018 by an employee of the Tannenbaum event center along the Mount Rose Highway. The employee saw a person in the car at that time, but when the employee stepped back outside a few hours later, the person was no longer there. Police indicate the car, a 2004 Gold Toyota Prius with NV license plate 314 F12, has apparently been there since Wednesday. Lingenfelter is still missing.

'Not often a search goes on this long:' Search on Mt. Rose for missing Reno teen enters day 3
It's been more than three days since authorities found a car belonging to missing Reno teenager Madelyn Lingenfelter part way up the Mt. Rose Highway, but search parties scouring the area have found no trace of her.

A small army of 69 volunteers (not including deputies and teams of search dogs) have spent more than 350 hours searching and walked nearly 300 miles on a tight search grid, but have found no sign of the missing 19-year-old.

UPDATE: Search called off for missing Reno teen; car on Mt. Rose is only clue

Officials have called off a search for Madelyn Lingenfelter of Reno after days of searching the Mt. Rose area.

While the active search is suspended, an investigation continues into where the 19-year-old could be, said Bob Harmon of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

After four days of an intense search, "we don't have a single clue. We're at that point where we don't know where else to go," Harmon said. "I hope she's out there somewhere, and can let us know. A lot of people are concerned for her."

I haven't seen much posted about this investigation. I assume LE is holding any info they may have close to the vest, i.e. possible clues from social media accounts, interviews with friends/co-workers, data from any cameras in the area - if this young lady was sitting in the passenger side of the car, was there someone in the driver's seat? And where are the Websleuthers who usually show up en force to examine these cases. Help!

UPDATE: Search called off for missing Reno teen; car on Mt. Rose is only clue

It's still possible that Lingenfelter, who was last seen driving her car Wednesday in North Reno, may not be on Mt. Rose at all. It's unusual, Harmon added, that none of the search dogs have picked up any sort of scent during the last three days of searching.

BBM This makes me think Maddie got into another car there in the parking lot -- either voluntarily (was she waiting for someone to pick her up?) or involuntarily (abducted).

I don't remember seeing anything about a cell phone. Assuming she had a cell phone, and a purse with her, were they in the car or are they also missing?

Good questions. Could she have been with a co-worker or friend? Who was the last person to see her? Was she dating anyone or known to use any dating apps? Was she experiencing any mental health issues at the time of her disappearance? I wish Madelyn's case was getting more attention. I, too, am wondering if she wasn't abducted. They have been searching that large area near (on?) the mountain -- is that a place where someone would hike? I know nothing about that area, but the fact that her car was found on the side of the road (or was it sitting in a parking lot?) --- strange.

I have not seen any mention of a boyfriend. I was hoping her step-mother, mother, or best friend would mention anything but no such luck. Is it known where she worked?

If you go to Google Street View of the road in front of the Tannenbaum Events Center the parking spot where her car was found is as marked in this attached image.

Thank you for these maps and picture of the parking lot where Madelyn's car was parked. Did she know anyone who worked at this event facility? Did she have a reason to be there? I read the dogs did not pick up on her scent during the search -- which, may or may not be significant. Does anyone here live in this area? How much media attention is being given to this case? Is the local news talking about it? When someone goes missing, especially a young person, sheriff's dept. here will post on FB and ask the public for help. I saw her FB page -- it appears her acquaintances work in casinos and such in the area. There is something deeply sad about the fact that the search was halted and there is little to no further information to shed light on her disappearance. Well at least there are a few souls here who care.

To me, when they stop searching, it usually means that law enforcement is pursuing a different scenario or they have exhausted all leads. That the tracking dogs didn't find her scent in the area means that she either got into a different vehicle or she never made it to the Tannenbaum Events Center but her car and phone did. Law enforcement stated that they found nothing in her car that indicates her location. What they haven't said is whether they recovered her phone or not. If they recovered her phone and its contents then I think it is likely law enforcement has a lot more to work with.

It appears that perhaps her phone may have been left in her car, or was turned off/disabled there?

Reno woman still missing; investigators looking for leads

When deputies were called to the car September 21 by her family, which had pinged her cell phone to that area, they said it had apparently been parked there since the Wednesday [9/19] sighting.

An employee said they saw Madelyn sitting in the passenger seat. I suppose she could have gotten into another car and then left willingly. Are any family members speaking up? She is over 18 so if she wanted to just leave there doesn't seem to be any reason why she wouldn't just tell someone. At least I can't think of a reason.

Madelyn Lingenfelter missing; car found on Mt. Rose – Missing Persons of America

Family believes her car was planted and that she never drove it to where it was discovered.

An employee from the event center reportedly saw a female in the car.

*modsnip*/ removed as discussing fb comments and sleuthing person not named officially (msm or le as POI)

The million dollar question here is why they felt the need for all these searches in the surrounding forest? Based on what ive read, her car was not parked out in the middle of nowhere and there were businesses right there to go to if she needed some help, why would she run into the wild where she could never get any of that? If she parked there and disappeared to this area she might be suicidal, perhaps they had reason to believe this but nothing in the media indicated this and wouldnt she have been found by now?

In addition, looks like there might have been a boyfriend or love interest as this pic seems to promote that. Everyone says theres no boyfriend but maybe there was about to be one or even one at some point in time. Maybe she didnt share any of this. Thats a chummy pic.

Seems something has happened to her and there has been alot of time wasted on pointless searches in my opinion.

LE need to talk to her friends.

I guess they focused their search on that area because that's where her phone last pinged. I'm assuming she did not leave her phone in the car as it wasn't mentioned that they found it. I took a closer look at that area, and -- in spite of all the professionals they had searching, it still looks like an enormous area to cover. Almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. I'd like to believe the dogs would have been able to track her if she was there, but I know they are not always able to do so. Ten days and nothing --
