Found Deceased NV - Madelyn Lingenfelter, 19, Reno, 19 Sept 2018

I guess they focused their search on that area because that's where her phone last pinged. I'm assuming she did not leave her phone in the car as it wasn't mentioned that they found it. I took a closer look at that area, and -- in spite of all the professionals they had searching, it still looks like an enormous area to cover. Almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. I'd like to believe the dogs would have been able to track her if she was there, but I know they are not always able to do so. Ten days and nothing --
Time to redirect this investigation in my opinion.

I see that Maddy's uncle has started a GoFundMe campaign to obtain resources so that the family can hire a private investigator.

I really hope they do get a PI involved. It would be interesting to see if they could shed anymore light on this situation instead of concentrating only on the area the car was discovered. I think theres more to her disappearance than just the obvious.

Didn't another girl about that age going missing from Reno earlier this year?

I’m not sure who you’re talking about- maybe Caitlin Denison who disappeared in January after going to Midland, TX?
There’s also 18 year old Katrina Denoce who just went missing in Reno.

There's very little to go on. Her social media is just selfies of herself, no personal information, employment, school, etc shared. She has no arrest records, no trail of anything really on the internet. The search area was due to her last phone ping, but the dogs found no scent of her in and around the car. I'm thinking someone just planted the vehicle there. I hope she is found. She was in Teen Vogue this week though so the story is getting out there. Wow, according to her facebook one of her friends are asking people not to message them with questions anymore. Now her roommate has deleted her facebook altogether. Why hesitate to help?
The only thing i can think of is that people may be accusing them of having something to do with her disappearance. Which brings me to question why people might think this? Its not everyday friends of the missing are being interrogated by the public on social media to the point where these friends are asking to be left alone or going as far as to delete their profiles. Why delete your social media and announce your decision to move across the US when the person you share a home with is missing and could very well return home still?
I hope LE is looking into social media and the behavior of her friends.

I have to believe LE is expanding their investigation since the search produced nothing. I am hoping against hope that Madelyn just felt she needed to get away. Hiring a PI would be great, hopefully enough folks will contribute to the fundraising effort so that can be done. It seems like some young people feel so vulnerable and lost at this stage of life. I know many who yearn for something interesting and fun, but the journey there seems impossible. What they don't understand is those feelings are perfectly normal. I know I felt like that -- I didn't start out with any specific goal because I didn't know myself well enough at that time. Madelyn seems like such a sweet person, I am praying she's out there and will contact family/friends soon.

maybe they know something, or someone thinks they do, and they have been threaten to keep quiet....they might also be afraid that person might be able to track them through facebook..... just a thought

Absolutely!!! Could be any of the above. I just found all this behavior odd and might be wise to look into instead of searching around the vehicles location endlessly. So much time wasted. My first thought, given the circumstances, would not have been to search the forest but to look into friends as she could have been meeting someone there or someone thought it was a good place to dump her car... i wouldnt think to dump a car where anyone can see it though. I dont feel good about any of this. Something is definitely not right here.

My parents have lived right off the Mount Rose Highway, in Galena, for 20 years.

There aren't a lot of reasons that a 19 yr old girl from Reno would be driving up that far on that Highway. That parking lot is for an 'event center' which mostly does weddings, etc. She had no reason to be there.

I think someone was just dumping her car there. Sadly, she might be found eventually, in the remote high desert which surrounds the area.

I was in Reno recently and got lost driving, and in broad daylight, I was surprised at how many obvious drug users, and meth heads, that I saw wandering around the neighborhoods. I am worried that this girl ended up stepping into a bad group of people and paid the ultimate price for it..

I am worried for her as well.

I've been so sad about Madelyn right from the start -- just a gut feeling that she may have been in a bad place emotionally and/or bad situation. Does she have a responsible adult(s) in her life to whom she could turn for advice/help/encouragement? Did she have "people" who looked out for her best interests and offered guidance when needed? Could she have met someone online? Does anyone know if her phone was in her car?

Yes, I believe her phone was pinged to her car.

The 18 year old was found Reno Police: Missing 18-year-old found

I'm local and there is hardly anything public about Madelyn since they called off the search. I have not had a good feeling about this one but hope she is ok.

LE seemed confident the woman at the event center saw Maddy in the car. I wonder if any of Maddy's friends/acquaintances could pass for her from a distance.

IIRC, one reason LE searched the nearby woods was thinking she may have gone hiking. But, Maddy's family stated she isn't an outdoorsy person. I hope a parallel investigation has been in place to consider if foul play might be involved.

She could have easily seen a female in Maddy's car but i dont think it would be possible to determine whether it was actually Maddy or not considering the distance between the event center and where the car was parked. If she was so sure of seeing her then LE needs to be questioning this woman further as it would seem rather suspect to be positive of whom she saw, let alone their sex and actual identity from that distance.
Was there more witness interaction here than LE has been been led to believe?

Just a thought.
While wondering why Maddy's car would be parked outside the Tannenbaum Event Center, I came to the idea that she may have gone there to interview for a job position.
Her friend/roommate replied within the comments of one of her FB posts that Maddy hadnt been working in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.

So maybe she was looking to get hired by the Tannenbaum Event Center?

I decided to research job listings but couldnt find anything for the Tannenbaum in particular. However, i stumbled upon public records of the Tannenbaum property being sold in April of 2018 to a catering group known as "Roundabout."

With that information I then searched for job listings with Roundabout and this is what i was able to find...

Unfortunately, when i clicked on the posting/job listing they were removed as the positions were no longer available, hence my reason for screen shotting the search results. One of them was posted on September 8th and another on August 31st.
Could there be some connection with the event center and Maddy's disappearance? Maybe she was at this location and something happened to her inside of that place?
I really was trying to make sense as to why she would be parked in such a remote location...
Again, just a speculation since there really isnt much to go off of at this point. I wonder if any search efforts took place inside the Tannenbaum?

Roxxi3535, thank you for doing this research! I, too, wondered about any possible connection with the event center. Is it close to where Maddy lives? You know -- unless she is hidden like a needle in a haystack in those woods, I'm also beginning to wonder if the answers might be found through interviews with her friends. I am also curious as to the theme in the letters she sent to her friends -- this might provide better clarity with regard to what might have happened. In any case, I find the whole situation depressing.
