I came across this missing person on a unidentified FB page....I think this is interesting....

Robert Louis Arcaris

Robert was last seen on October 12, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is believed to be a possible victim of a homicide in the Lake Mead area. AKA Meyers, Louis Robert.
Very interesting, maybe he will be located!

Imagine if AWP were called there. The things they could find. I wonder if they would be interested in something like that? It would be worth it if they could bring more people back to their worried families.
AWP specializes in finding cars under water, not people outside of cars. I guess their equipment might be useful for finding barrels?
I think AWP is a great group, but not the group with the experience and equipment for this search.

Any news on the second barrel? Was it the same type/manufacturer? Was it closed/open, as rusty as the first?...the body (if there was one) might have washed out...

The barrel is similar to the first one... not so corroded though and it's half stuck in the sand. It's hard to say for now if a body or anything else was ever inside it.

"(...) A small hole in the second barrel revealed empty space,(...)"

Las Vegas police looking for DNA to help identify body in barrel

Justin Woo, a Las Vegas entrepreneur and founder of VegasHelps, has previously worked with LVMPD to help solve cold cases through DNA evidence. Woo made a private donation that helped solve the 1989 Stephanie Isaacson murder case through genealogy DNA testing.

Woo said that he has offered to help Metro on this specific case but that LVMPD is still working to retrieve some DNA so it can be tested. Othram Labs in Texas has worked closely with LVMPD on solving cold cases through genealogy.

Vegas ain't far and the mafia might have gotten bored with digging holes in the desert. Could be a disposal method for mob victims.

I was thinking the same thing.
Hinky gambling debts, got in with the wrong people.....maybe he paid a high price.
RIP barrel man. I hope you get your identity and a beautiful grave.

2nd barrel found empty

— While working on the story of the discovery of a barrel that contained human remains at Lake Mead, the 8 News Now I-Team found a second barrel and alerted police.

Boaters discovered the body in the first barrel around 3 p.m. Sunday. The I-Team first reported the discovery on Sunday afternoon and new details about the discovery Monday.

The person, believed to be a man, is suspected to have been murdered in the late-1970s or 1980s, investigators said.

While at the lake Monday, the I-Team noticed a second barrel several hundred feet away from the site of the first — also onshore.

is it possible the body came out, or was is still closed? maybe just trash?

My husband who fancies himself a comedian offered up "its Jimmy Hoffa" sigh.

I have to admit that Hoffa crossed my mind, as unlikely as it is. I see your husband and I are not alone in thinking of Hoffa.:) But whoever it is, I hope he can be identified and returned to his family.

Not Russian, actually. Kadamovas's torture/ransom/murder gang was probably created by the Vilnius Brigade, and the ransom money was probably flowing back to it. There's even a decent book about the possible connection:
