Has anyone seen info on how many people were usually on the shuttle? NV is a 24/7 state . . .many businesses are open 24 hours and/or very late, as opposed to other areas. I would expect that there HAD to be other people around giving the short window of time they are indicating, even that early in the am.

Given the growth in our area, a lot of people have moved to Fernley and commute due to HCOL and housing shortages. Business at the USA Pkwy are part of the reason for our huge growth spurts too. With those shift hours, I'm just thinking (hoping) there were more people than you'd expect in a typical town at that early hour.

I realize most people don't give other people a second thought but hoping somebody nearby saw something that they may not have realized could have been important at the time, kwim?

I have followed many, many cases and I have never been more impressed with a family. Great, great people. This is heartbreaking. JMO

Stolen vehicles reported are entered into a nationwide database, available to all LE. I cannot get into the head of this perp, but if I were going to steal a vehicle to use in a major crime, I would try to steal one a little less conspicuous, like maybe a Toyota or Honda that looks like just about every other car on the road. I would not want to give LE a head start by driving the most distinctive vehicle I could find. Also, he apparently did not need the truck in the actual commission of the crime, as it looks like all of that, including transporting Naomi, took place in her own car, so maybe he never thought his vehicle would be spotted. I may well be wrong, but I have a strong sense that while the plate on it may be, the truck itself was not stolen. JMO

Just a heads up, I am dealing with a nasty cold so please forgive me if I don’t make sense or ask a question that was previously asked, my vision is pretty blurry. I apologize ahead of time.

Family of Naomi Irion: 'If they can do it to us, they can do it to you'

did anyone create a map yet of the area her phone last pinged?
Super scary situation! The brother had mentioned a reservation not too far from where her phone last pinged, hopefully LE has checked there or the surrounding homes.

Bolded by me. I had been thinking he might have taken her somewhere he needed 4WD to get to, like a remote location on a ranch or something, but you're right, it sounds like wherever he went, it was in her small old car.

Yes, they were searching this area near the reservation over the weekend.

looks like Lyon County Sheriff added cropped images of suspect:

Video and images showing the suspect in the moments leading up to Naomi Irion's abduction.

That’s a good video. I believe we see her car there, correct? Middle of the lot.

Using flightradar24.com, I was able to see some small aircrafts on the map carving some interesting flight paths, which has me wondering if they might also be involved in the search for Naomi.

One made a few circles over Fernley Wildlife Management Area (NE of US-50 and the city of Fernley) before heading back toward Reno and disappearing from the map.

This aircraft is currently making a big grid pattern above Carson Lake and the mountains east of the lake. Carson Lake is about 40 miles E of Fernley (taking US-50, then US-95 heading S) and is also newly designated as a wildlife management area.

Maybe they're just avid airborne bird watchers, but seeing this kind of flight activity in these rural wildlife preserves makes me wonder. It also makes me hope that these pilots are searching these areas with some sort of direction from investigators, based off evidence already collected. This area just feels so vast. Where do you even start to look!?

I think this right here has me driven to this case. The first time I heard about this was in a video from a smaller YT creator that had the mom on.

I can't confirm if these aircraft were involved but I do know they had LE Raven helicopters searching. And, yes, it's very vast in areas. Literally searching for a needle in a haystack, etc :(

I’m not sure if this comment will be well received, but I’ve not seen a PC where family didn’t speak directly to the missing persons or the suspect. Meaning: no one said “please if you’re watching this, please bring her home, please don’t hurt her.” Or “Naomi if you’re watching, we love you, we are going to find you”, etc. which makes me wonder if whatever evidence was found in the car that led police to believe a crime had been committed, was enough evidence to determine there was an attack and that a person could not have survived that attack, and at this point they are looking for the suspect, and they believe she isn’t alive. Forgive me if this is harsh, I don’t mean it to be. But could the family already be made aware that she may not be alive? This is all just IMO.

Yeah, that is my thought too. If you owned a $70K truck and someone stole it, I think you would be on the phone pretty quickly to report it. And then if you saw a truck that looked just like yours on tv, being connected to a major crime, I think you would be on the phone pretty quickly to report that as well. By the same token, if you had lent your truck to someone else and saw it on tv, connected to this crime, I would think you would be looking for LE to let them know, before they come looking for you. All that leaves is someone stealing or borrowing the truck without the owner's knowledge, keeping it several hours, and then returning it to the owner without owner ever knowing. That seems highly unlikely to me.
There is also the chance that the owner is not aware that his/her truck was used in a crime. It's hard for those of us on WS to imagine, but SO MANY people do not watch the news and are not aware of these types of alerts. At. All.

Map of Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation. It includes the towns of Wadsworth, Sutcliff, and Nixon.

The aerial search of Monday was over the mountain range to the left, in green, where Virginia Peak is. It was a grid search and spent a few extra minutes circling the Olinghouse Road and Mine there, a large open-pit gold and silver mine.

My guess is at least 20 people would be taking the shuttle from Fernley on a M-F route. Probably fewer on Saturday.

In the CCTV footage of the suspect loitering in front of the Walmart, however, the parking lot does not seem to have more than 3 vehicles in that section in front of the doors. Perhaps others using the shuttle are parked beyond the row of trees along the west side of the parking area in view, which would be the much larger lot to the southeast of the main doors.

Thanks, I was wondering about parking as well. The lot looked pretty empty from the images released but I figured there had to be more people on the shuttle than what we can see or know about.

Don't see that flight.

There is currently a helicopter out over southern Lyon county, south of Highway 50.

B06 Bell 206L-4 LongRanger
Looks like it flew out of Yerington/Smith Valley, currently hovering east of Cleaver Peak. Not really in where I would have expected the search area to be.

Curiously, a small private plane has flown out of RNO airport to very close to that same are, but is now likely doing "touch and go's" at the Silver Springs airport.

I totally understand what you mean. I was thinking the same (why no direct pleas etc etc). Usually, from my experience, LE or victim advocates, spokespeople, prompt such pleas directed to the kidnapper (s). Also, yes, they speak to the victim. It is rather odd. Especially since this family has been so outspoken and open to any and all media. JMO

I've seen others where the pleas etc. didn't happen. I can't recall specific cases to mind, though.

ETA: I edited to remove accidental negative implication.

I kind of felt that way too. Mom corrected the sister when she said 'she was' to 'she is'. When I listen to these I try to keep in mind that the families are facing their worst nightmare and under so much stress. In this situation, mom just got off a plane from S. Africa and brother is, in my opinion, is in 'kick butt and take names' mode from talking to LE to making sure there's ribbons. Not that they don't feel the things you mentioned, but with stress, cameras and people in their faces maybe it slipped their minds? Like let's focus on the facts and just that. IE her purse and phone are still missing. I don't know...just my opinion.
