GUILTY NV - O.J. Simpson charged in Las Vegas armed robbery, 2007

Whatever the bail amount is, he will have to pay 10% of that amount to get out of jail. But if the bail amount is a million dollars (or more), he will have to put up something worth the other $900,000 in collateral. In most cases it would have to be a house worth that amount. Does anyone have any idea how much O.J.'s house in Florida might be worth?

If there's any concern that O.J. might flee, all they have to do is make the bail higher than his house is worth. Hopefully, friends and family won't be able to meet the bail.

Where did you hear that? Just curious. He didn't elaborate on Larry King.

Quote:

KING: We understand you were given immunity today, right?

RICCIO: I was.

KING: By the Las Vegas police?

RICCIO: Right.

I'm just wondering - can the police give immunity?

Good question about who can give immunity. I think LE can recommend it to the DA. But it's ultimately up to the DA to grant immunity. Not sure on that though.

I have been to news sites all over the US today and am not sure where I saw the statement about the immunity. I'll go see if I can find it.

Another discussion about the tapes I heard in the past few days I don't remember where. IIRC, the tapes contain other recordings than the robbery incident. Supposedly they contain OJ talking about offshore bank accounts. If that is true, I hope bail is revoked. What is ironic is, OJ may have enough money for bail in these accounts. But can't touch it to help him out without exposing the accounts....lololol

Not that I think OJ is innocent here or whatever (actually I don't care about OJ) but it sickens me to see his bail so high considering I just got done reading on another thread how a father raped and beat his 3 months old baby and got out on 100ks bail...A little armed robbery or raping and beating a baby? Hmmm..does it take a rocket scientist?

We don't know what O.J.'s bail is yet, or even if there will be bail. O.J. is to be arraigned today in Las Vegas, and the judge will affix a bail amount at that hearing. We're just speculating on bail at this point. :)

Aha! ok..I got the wrong assumption from not paying attention as usual hehehe..

Another thing I wanted to ask...did anyone hear on the tape OJ saying ''I want to get my stuff before the Goldmans get their hands on it''.. ??

I feel the off-shore accounts are worrisome. If he makes bail, O.J. could easily slip out of the country, take money from his off-shore accounts, and disappear. Knowing that he faces a lengthy prison term is a strong motivation for disappearing. At his age, he might decided it's preferable to live out the rest of his life someplace where he can remain free, in a country that doesn't recognize extradition.

Maybe he'll be sporting a new ankle bracelet. There is No Way they are going to let him out of their site!!! O.J.

He tried to run the last time he was in trouble...remember the infamous Bronco chase? He had a wig and a big stack of cash in the car with him. He'll run to the Bahamas or somewhere like that and just stay.

I bet he did say that about the Goldmans, I bet he says it everyday.

Theoretically at least, bail is not really supposed to be punitive and relates to the risk of flight/assurance the defendant will show up when required - and is not so much related to the severity of the crime.

Eve

Fox News reporting that Marcia Clark is in the courthouse, probably covering the case as a legal analyst.

Greta mentioned something about trouble between OJ's local lawyer (who was on her show last night) and Yale Galanter (OJ's Miami atty). Seems Yale is steamed at something and there might be fireworks in court today between the two.

OMG, Marcia Clark!!! Bad surgury!! I think she and Phil Spector are one and the same person. I don't know how to do pictures, but if someone could put them up side by side, you'd see what I mean.

Bail could be as much as $500,000 or more mostly due to the kidnapping charge.

I'm sure his friends will help him come up with that amount if he can't. They should be careful because he only cares about himself. I really don't think he could get away to another country because of who he is though...

LOL You're right. But Phil's changed his wig yet again.

Yes - just heard that on TV the other day. About $1 million. They said he bought it for $500,000.
