O.J. Simpson asks Nevada parole board for early release, 20 July 2017

Some....cannot stand the lawyer and several on HLN siad he is not the best. However this gives him a good mark now.

So the hook deals, the shows all will start.

Want yo see the list the board puts out for,him to abide by...and where will he live...he has money that is for sure.

According to one of the legal analysts on CNN, Florida laws protect his NFL pension from being garnished by the Goldman family lawsuit settlement.

This is why he relocated to Florida before this conviction, and why he wants to live there now that he's been paroled.

O.J. Simpson granted parole, gets Oct. release

Ken Ritter, Associated Press Published 6:17 a.m. ET July 20, 2017 | Updated 3:30 p.m. ET July 20, 2017

Lovelock, Nev. — O.J. Simpson was granted parole Thursday after more than eight years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel heist, successfully making his case in a nationally televised hearing that reflected America’s enduring fascination with the former football star.

Simpson, 70, could be a free man as early as Oct. 1. By then, he will have served the minimum of his nine-to-33-year armed-robbery sentence for a bungled attempt to snatch sports memorabilia and other mementos he claimed had been stolen from him.

He got the four votes he needed from the parole commissioners who heard his case. In agreeing to release him, they cited his lack of a prior conviction, the low risk he might commit another crime, his community support and his release plans...

O.J. Simpson Granted Parole by Nevada Officials After Nine Years in Prison

by Daniel Arkin

O.J. Simpson, the former football star who was imprisoned nearly a decade ago for a bungled Las Vegas robbery, was granted parole Thursday.

Simpson has served the minimum of a nine-to-33-year sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center, a medium-security prison northeast of Reno. He was convicted in 2008 of armed robbery and other charges related to a botched sports memorabilia heist in a Las Vegas hotel room.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," an emotional Simpson told four members of the Nevada Board of Parole via videoconference...

Was he ever convicted of Domestic Violence or did he plead no contest?

OJ Simpson should spend the rest of his life in prison. He is better off in prison because he is a pariah like Casey Anthony, Jerry Sandusky, Martin Shkreli, Lori Drew, Ethan Couch, Charles Manson, and Osama bin Laden.

Seems like he likes being in prison.

I think the 1995 trial should of been a mistrial or hung jury. It was poorly handled at all levels.

I'm not surprised by today's decision it was expected by many I think. But I think it is unlikely he won't be in trouble again and back in jail where he belongs.

He got paroled because he followed the rules in prison and earned his way out. The same is available to all inmates, except those given LWOP and DP. I can't get angry that the system worked for him. We made these laws and he gets to be free. We just have to suck it up.

I watched the entire hearing today on Fox News from beginning to end. Even though I 100% believe he is the one who murdered Ron and Nicole, I respect the jury's verdict although I disagree with it. I feel who lost that case was the state. They made so many critical errors so I wasn't one bit surprised when he was found NG. I felt it was all over the day Chris Darden made the biggest mistake of any Prosecutor I have ever seen or read about. I even told my hubby the very same day the glove fiasco happened he was going to walk free. Clark was too busy worrying about her hair do, limelight, and sparring with FL Bailey.

I think the parole board came to the right decision today even though I personally would like him to be locked up for life. I noticed he is much more physically fit than in the last hearing so I think he has been preparing to get out even before the possibility of being paroled.

To be fair and honest the sentence he got in the robbery was excessive, imo. Every attorney I have seen on air today said considering the circumstances surrounding this robbery it should have resulted in a 1-2 year sentence, max. I definitely think why he got such a long prison sentence was because of Ron and Nicole's murder. I have seen some get out of prison in 7 years or less who have committed homicides.

I cant say one way or the other whether he will keep his nose clean. I hope so, and I hope he just goes away. I do think there will be people who will try to entice and egg him on in hopes it violates his parole to try and get him back in prison.

Hopefully for any potential victim's sake out there he has changed and mellowed in his old age.

I think he will move back to Florida and build or buy another home there. I don't think he will give interviews to the media because he is bound and determined to see the Goldman's don't get a dime of his money.

Although, he may give interviews since he loves the limelight so much but tells the media the money they may pay him will go to LoveLock prison instead of him. This way he gets to put his face out there and doesn't have to pay Ron's family. No one loves OJ more than OJ and OJ loves being the center of attention.

I don't know what it is about this man but at times some on the parole board seemed almost giddy as he spoke. But sociopaths are known to be very charming.

IMO

ocean I watched opening statements and knew he would walk.

No surprise  IMO parole is all about making a fresh start and so if OJ kept his nose clean the parole board probably acted in the same manner they would have with any prisoner. I guess.

But it's not like OJ kept his nose clean in the years between the murders and his arrest in Nevada - here's a list of other incidents:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article162682193.html

A couple of things not on the list are the impact on his kids. Two of them went to the same school as my kids (different years) and during their time there at least one acted out on a couple of occasions. IMO a lot had to do with OJ not having open, honest discussions with his kids about their mother's death but I guess that would have been kinda hard to do...

IMO the man has an entitled attitude combined with an uncanny ability to successfully slip and slide around the law. Reminds me of another Florida man who managed to get away with breaking the law.

He's 70 now and maybe prison has mellowed him out but like others have pointed out he likes the spotlight and as long as he continues to believe he's above the law he'll continue his old behavior. MOO.

Bah.

Bolling: 'O.J. Simpson Will End Up In Jail Again'
http://insider.foxnews.com/2017/07/20/oj-simpson-trial-eric-bolling-he-will-be-back-jail-nicole-ron

Eric Bolling predicted that O.J. Simpson will return to prison again.

A Carson City, Nev. parole board granted Simpson's release earlier Thursday.

Bolling said the former Buffalo Bills running back is too much of a reckless person to abide by the strict limits of his parole.

Quite frankly, I would not be surprised if OJ Simpson gets in trouble again.

70 isn't old! I'm 67, DH is 68. We're both in excellent health and hope to live for many more years. While it's scary to think about, OJ could easily live for many more years, date again, marry again, and, yes, possibly commit another crime (or two).

I'm sorry if I caused you any offense with that remark. It was thoughtless and rude. I agree that 70 isn't that old. One of my close family members is turning 70 in another year and both his parents are alive and in their nineties.

That aside, I was hoping OJ would pass before he finished his sentence so he never saw the outside again.

I think coming from a life of luxury to jail, has sobered him. I think that he knows that he got away with murder and does not want to spend his remaining days locked up. I doubt we will hear about this 70 year old again.

I thought I heard it was brother and sister. Does anyone know if Arthelle and Jason have been close to his and Nicole's children?

I remember when OJ killed - sorry - "allegedly" killed Nicole & Ron, I believe the kids stayed with Arnelle for awhile, so I thought she was close to those two kids. :dunno:

I saw on the news this morning that 52 million people watched the parole hearing....

Actually, one attorney on CNN this morning said he was convicted of 11 Class A Felonies.... so it was an appropriate sentence!

Had turn off the live stream when OJ's attorney came on....

Oh, I think we'll be hearing from him again.....

Oh - the person that said they were going to listen to the parole board press conference - anything interesting said?? TIA!

I had to shut off the defense presser....so missed it, darn.

I am now curious to see if Florida accepts the felon (I think they will).

I am also curious to see what his parole regulations will be, for how long will he have to abide by the regulations, and will he try and get them lessened.

But he kinda didn't follow the rules. He 'forgot' about the restitution to his victims for one, and wasn't there something else? I can't be bothered right now to actually look it up, lol. But the restitution alone is no small thing. 'Forgetting' about that should have consequences IMO.

From the hearing it seems he either forgot or didn't know restitution had already been paid to his robbery victim.

There was one particular moment from the parole board hearing that really caught my attention, it pretty much showed his arrogance and says to me - in a nut shell - the guy thinks he's untouchable, even after being convicted of 11 felonies. The gentleman on the board was referring to the items in the robbery, and I think he was trying to ask if - AT THE TIME - did OJ know those pieces to be his personal property. OJ sort of leaned forward, delayed a second, and said FIRMLY AND WITH A LOT OF DEFIANCE, "They were PROVEN to be mine..." and almost like, tried to present the evidence of that. The parole board guy said "Uh, AT THE TIME ...": and OJ sat back and said "oh sorry sorry, go ahead with your question" or something like that. I will have to see if I can find that moment on video because it was really telling to me.

EDITED TO ADD: When OJ delayed and then answered, I felt threatened, all the way from over here at my desk in New Jersey. That's what I mean, he just comes across as threatening.
