I've been thinking about this photo all day. I'm guessing you know more about mummification than I do, his hair is very strikingly white in this photo, do you think it was like that in life or do you think his hair turned that white after death?

His hair was that color in life. Hair is normally quite resistant to postmortem changes.

i think James is a very good ID! im not too bothered by the height difference (hard to measure someone whose mummified and may be curled/tensed up).
what really cinches it for me is James has a round, depressed scar on his left forehead...and look what the UID has! A round area of discoloration at about the same area; it may be a ~little~ lower but its hard to tell due to difference in positioning.

Jim Allen is a good possibility. He led a nomadic, if not transient lifestyle and location and timeline fit very well
However if it is him, where did his car, camper and dog end up?
Ok, a dog may have run on the street, but someone surely must have noticed an abandoned car and camper somewhere? And why would Jim need to sleep at a motel if he had a camper? May have sold it probably or it may have broken down somewhere.
