REF:

It certainly appears that Steven was carrying something under his arm, like papers or a folder (black folder?):

Thanks very much for that link, Leomoon. I took a look and examined it a bit, did some searching on images to see if I'm crazy or if what I think I'm seeing is reasonable, and went with reasonable but sounds crazy.

First thing I noticed is the time stamp is 12:00:12. Given he had only crossed the street, it implies that he got out of the car precisely at 12:00. There's a pretty good shot both a cellphone and this camera were correct time.

The gut reaction may be coincidence, or so what, but I believe it indicates person was waiting for that exact time to leave the car.

I say person, not Steven. Here's where it gets crazy. There's really no subtle way to say this, so I'll just out with it. I believe the man is balding with just a fringe of hair on lower back of head, is wearing earmuff headphones and carrying a boombox or boombox bag with shoulder strap. The pants I believe to be something like Speedo Super Pro warmup pants with a wide white stripe on sides.

Now I know what the general reaction must have been previously to this picture, that there is some kind of glare that obscures back of head and side of pants to create the balding and white stripe effects, but front and back of dark pants leg is clearly visible to me on either side of the stripe.

Headphone has wide strap across top of head, but I looked up Sony earmuff or noise canceller headphones, and that's the way they're pictured. I initially thought that bag under arm (and clearly has width of a duffel or sports bag but only about two feet long) was a sports bag and this was SK running away, but I thought khaki pants, head of hair, this guy isn't wearing uniformly colored khaki pants and has a head of hair.

Also my first impression of his head and neck is thicker than SK's picture. I know that thought has been posted by others, and that family recognizes Steven in this surveillance video, but I have to believe this guy is parking Steven's car and walking away. The noon timing I believe is as I thought with Steven, supposed to be picked up at noon. Walking away from the car would be to not be seen getting into vehicle next to it. Precise noon timing would be to minimize time on street. Boombox and headphones I guess is a type of disguise and to not have to speak to anyone, answer questions that could be noticeable if rudely brushed off or memorable in a brush off answer.

The boombox bag and stereo headphones are distinctly shaped, the bag goes from the back of his hip up left side to in front of shoulder, could be shoulder strap, and also extends forward a bit, with fairly decent profile. The earphones stop precisely below the ears, no gray area at all, clearly demarcated. The wite stripe on the pants has dark pants leg on either side up and down the leg, clearly darker than background.

I considered carefully a light colored ball cap giving the illusion of the back of a bald head, but don't see a cap bill in front, but I could be persuaded it's a ball cap with hair below it rather than bald head with fringe of hair across lower back of head.

I double considered this as Steven carrying a sports bag and lots of glare on his pants and back of head, but it doesn't have the optical qualities of glare but rather fairly well defined white areas for the stripe and back of head. I also considered that this is unusual to say the least, and that SK had been on the phone less than a hour earlier, and that this is an extremely unusual way to deal with a victim's car immediately after abduction or murder, so nothing that makes more sense in what I see than if it's Steven.

I think you should look at the other video and see if you see the same things. I can tell you one thing...if this is someone walking around in that kind of get up in this neighborhood.....people would notice..definitely..along with the person in the SUV that says they did not notice him. Which I have a hard time believing. Steve acts like the SUV is just not there and they don't see him. ???

yeah, I will take a look at video, have to get a PC up and running that I will put Flash and other video type stuff on it.

I of course do not see all this on a tiny video. I blow up the picture a bit larger than the second link in Leomoon's post to see detail like that.

I don't know that anyone would notice anything unless they were looking. I didn't see anything I would not reason means I didn't see anything noticeable.

Also, no one was asked if they saw a man with a boombox. They were asked if they saw SK, so don't know if actually someone did see something concerning this guy. Would they have mentioned it if they had thinking it might be related? I don't know.

I am not shooting down anyone's theories, but IIRC the family has ID'd the person in the video as Steven.

I see a ball cap.

I see the bill of the ball cap silhouetted against the lighter background, when the male figure first walks into view (00:33 - 00:37) in the CAM3 video. I only see the bill of the cap while the figure's head is against that lighter background. The cap's bill is most visible when the figure ducks his head a bit as the SUV approaches, then raises his head a few seconds later.

I don't see a boombox, though. Those are elongated, thick objects - and I believe the figure is clasping a thin and squarish item between his left arm and left side. I cannot specifically identify the item as a portfolio; it could just as easily be a folded-up sweatshirt or jacket. It's never looked exactly square, nor clunky like a boombox. I'm not even sure you could carry a boombox that way, securely. .

Since boomboxes went away about 15 years ago, it would be distinctive to see someone carry one in a retirement neighborhood. But...the reason for carrying one of the big things, was to hear and share your loud music (not to carry something big and heavy so you could plug in headphones). IMO

I realize the family and many others are sure it's Steven in the video. Someone who didn't even know him, told me they are 100% positive it's him. His father couldn't recognize him on the fuzzy Best Buy/Home Depot (whatever) video...so why on this one? Because of the car? The movement? Something we're not aware of?

Until there's confirmation of what tells them it's positively Steven, I believe there's room for error.

I have been looking up different phone plans and if you are deducted minutes when you call voicemail. I am finding that some don't charge if you use a landline to call VM. If you use your cell to call VM you get charged minutes. It is all going to depend on his cell plan and who he was with. I have already asked Laytonian to see if she can find out who his carrier was.

AT&T. Family plan. (From a reliable, non-family source.)

In other words: the idea that he was behind on his cellphone bill, can be put to rest ;)

That opens up another possibility. If he was on a family plan they would know his incoming and outgoing calls and when and whom he talked too. If he did not want it known to family what he was doing, this gives him all the more reason to find an alternate source of communication. He would know that he had no privacy with that type of plan. I am convinced now, more than ever, that he had an alternate means of communication.

....and it explains why the phone records were so readily accessible. Not the cell tower locations, but the complete list of in/out phone numbers, texts, time, date, billed length of call. etc.

Another source I've been reading, is a blog by an in-law, which reports that Steven's Dad and brother initially went to Vegas while his mother stayed home and with the help of others, checked through bank and phone records.

It's against TOS to quote from social media here (and because it's family, I'm not even going to link to it anywhere), but I'm sure most here have already found and read that blog. It's easy to find.

IMO, family may have assumed that was Steven because it's only makes sense it was, afterall who else would walk from Steven's car?

Perps will often check a victims voicemail to see if anyone's worried and missing this person yet. Keeping a victims phone is a stupid thing to do because of phone pings, but it's like they can't help themselves. Gardner from San Diego did the same thing. So did the perps in the Christian Newsom trial.

One of which would be the St George library computer system, which we know he used AND that you have to use your library card to log into (source: Washington County library system).

LE subpoenaed his library card usage; we know he checked out three books. BUT....did that subpoena reveal how many times he'd used their computer system, and for how long? (We're not going to get an answer to that question, but it's worth thinking about.)

Steven's family said it was he on the video. I'm guessing every family member and friend of Steven's has seen the video. I'm confident that it's Steven because they say it is so.

Who would better know his walk, his gait, his mannerisms, how he swung his arms, how fast or slow he walked and his clothes than his family and friends?

We're just second-guessing ourselvels to think it's not him.

I am also thinking along the lines of a "throw away phone".

Is there any way to find out what those books were about, the subject matter?

It's in the threads somewhere...one was a bio on Pete Maravich, one was a book on Utah history IIRC...I dont remember that there was a third.

It's already known. Check the timeline link dated April 5th for details (ie, click on the news link "good deeds").

In this video the family says it is Steven in the surveillance video. It also says what was taken out at the library. One was a " Lord of the Rings" DVD.
