Whatever happened to the 'large bones' that were found in the desert from the search in early June? The bones found after someone called in a tip on Steven's case? Seems like we should know something about them by now.

They turned out to be animal bones.

Hi Krista. The search was actually in April. And I think the media took some liberties in describing them as "large."

In any case, they weren't human.

Thanks Ruby and Fairy! You've been ever so helpful!

As I admitted earlier, I've just started reading this case....so I'm sure to confuse some of the issues, but:

I'm concerned about his last few known days.
On one hand, he seems to have been floundering. He couldn't find a good job, he is calling all of his family, visiting old friends unannounced, spending many hours alone...driving many many miles for reasons NO ONE knows, telling some that he might drive to California, where he doesn't know anyone, not paying his bills and not accepting (depositing) help that was offered.
That makes me think suicide or runaway. But who drives their car to a completely unknown area, only to kill themselves? Surely there are thousands of places better and closer to dump your vehicle in the event of a suicide. And running away presents the same problems. What's near this neighborhood that would aid his runaway attempt? He didn't even take any of the money his parents and grandparent gave him....nor has he touched his accounts.
As difficult as his last few months had been, it seems that none of his actions indicate suicide or running away. IMHO.
So, why was he there? Another question is why did GW happen to be in Vegas as well? I saw on the family's timeline that GW said he called Steven...but the family indicates that this call wasn't listed on the phone records. I'm WAY too new to this case to be naming suspects, but I would like to know what GW was doing in Vegas and if LE has checked him out.
Regardless, the neighborhood....Something is in Steven's hand...under his arm. It looks like the size of a portfolio.....like something you'd carry your resume in. I wonder if all of this traveling in his last known days was for job interviews.
But my real issue is...why the cul-de-sac? Regardless of why he was in that neighborhood...why not park in the person's driveway? I think the surveillence videos show him DRIVING straight down Savannah Springs Ave all the way to the court....not turning off of Evening Lights....then getting out of his car later and walking up SS Ave, turning north on Evening Lights Ave. So, if EL Ave is where he was headed....why wouldn't he go straight to the house? Why wouldn't he park in their driveway? And how would he even know that the cul-de-sac would be a good place to park if he hadn't been to that location before...or if someone didn't tell him to park there. My best guess would be that someone offered him an interview...and that he was TOLD to park at that location.
It seems like such a small area.....as there are only so many houses he could have gone to.
Again, I'm sorry if I'm repeating someone else's posts or getting any details wrong.

No worries at all! Just wanting to keep what little we do know straight. Your questions are great and many of the same we've been asking for months now.

Great to have you here - we need new eyes!

Welcome krista, I remember you from the McStay fourm. Everything you ask has been discussed at length. The long-time sleuthers on this forum haven't left one rock unturned. They've been very faithful to every single tip, though they've few and far between. Hope you can come up with a fresh idea.

On one hand, he seems to have been floundering. He couldn't find a good job,

He had a good job, but quit it because (coworkers were "too worldly", it was too cold in SLC) <----Depending who you hear it frm

he is calling all of his family,

Those were incoming calls, at least during the last week.

visiting old friends unannounced,

We're not sure it was a welcome visit, or how friendly. The visit was to the family of a girl he'd broken up with (not pretty enough, God says she wasn't right ... or maybe she was another girl and there was another reason).

spending many hours alone...driving many many miles for reasons NO ONE knows, telling some that he might drive to California, where he doesn't know anyone, not paying his bills and not accepting (depositing) help that was offered.

We don't know how much support he'd had previously from his family, and whether everyone was at the end of their rope.

That makes me think suicide or runaway. But who drives their car to a completely unknown area, only to kill themselves? Actually, there's about 200 homes he could have walked to (but that parking space was the only cul de sac behind a wall, that was not surrounded by homes). That subdivision has only one entrance/egress point.

He could have spent the previous days doing reconnaissance on "good places to park" (for suicide, to hide a car about to be repo'd, because he was told to park there).

This case has SO many possibilities, and I think you've already caught on to all of them ;)

Welcome!

Yes, we very much need new ideas. I think we have run the gambit. Welcome also krista. Steven has a thread in the Astrology Forum also, if that interests you. Paulette can be very helpful in answering any questions you may have there....she has answered many for me.

If you click and drag the little man in the below map, there will be little blue dots you can place him over. These are pictures people have taken of the area, and will give you an idea of the terrain where the latest body was found.

Thanks everyone, for being so welcoming and helpful!

After Fairy's last message, I knew I had a LOT of catching up to do. I spent most of last night and this morning reading....and seeing how hard you all have been working on Steven's case! I won't post anything further until I'm caught up, but I WILL work hard to catch up to this thread by this weekend.

The Las Vegas Sun just reported that the body of a tenant (gender unknown) has been found at Siegel Suites, 3625 Boulder Highway. Appears suspicious.

Probably NOT related ... but this location is very near Fairy1's favorite IHOP.

That one made my gut turn over...

Yep - been by there many a time looking for Steven. Not exactly salt-of-the-earth type of folks around that area - generally speaking.

It's probably because I've been (basically) offline for a few days, but searching through the news reports is a massive undertaking right now. I'm sure everyone's doing the same, but the only ones I bring here are from the southwest area surrounding Vegas.

I'm not - but only because I don't believe that's the way this is going to go down.

But I sincerely appreciate those who do!

Where are you Steven?

  • #199
I so wish there was something new to go on here.

I seem to recall a while back, a certain poster insisted that Steven was fine and we should all "get a life" - or something along those lines. And I told that poster to have Steven call his Mom and let her know he was fine and we would all go away.

I don't believe that poster has been around here since, and here we all are, still. And where might Steven be?

Doesn't seem to be any update about the body that was found at Siegal Suites...
