Not a thing.
I'm wondering if "the body is in too poor condition to determine whether the ID is accurate" is an understatement.

But like I said, Steven's dentals are readily available (I even have some of them, sent to me cc: due to a UID I asked about a few weeks ago). I'd think they could have easily ID'd Steven, if this were him.

I agree. Seems unlikely it's Steven. They would have dentals and no problem notifying next of kin.

His dentals and DNA are in NCIC??? Seems like I might have asked this before, so bear with me lol. It is age!

According to NAMUS, yes.

In fact, when I inquired about a UID that matched Steven's characteristics, I was provided Steven's partial dentals -- as well as partials from the UID.

Age? Honey, you don't know age. I'm not only older than dirt, I invented dirt.

Still no updates. Grrrrrr. I don't believe it's our Steven, but it would be nice to know for sure....

Had to read your post twice Fairy1. I thought you were saying he took off with fasteddy4. LOL.

You know they know what the docs provided as far as ID, so maybe just waiting to notify family? Seems if it was someone not known in the area, they would start with calling any known relatives to confirm that person is indeed missing.

Since there was no foul play found, I'm thinking either natural medical problems or some type of self induced drug overdose; unless it was exposure last winter?

The article didn't mention if this is a normal homeless gathering, or if he had been camping out by himself. Seems kinda strange with all the businesses in the area no one would notice the smell of the odor of decompostion tho.

JMO...but I don't think it's Steven.

ETA: I don't think there is any correlation between the 5O some year old guy and SK. Not unless SK was into being a magical male strip dancer or the lover of such. This is what the son was into, along with running a club the father owned. Sorry, SK is not bad looking, but no where near the physic needed to compete in that atomsphere. Talking Chippendale.

Come to think of it, fasteddy4 has been MIA for a while now....LOL!

I can't help but believe that wherever this story leads, it will be a shocker - one way or another.

Steven - tell us where you are!!!

If he's found, I'm not so sure we'll ever know what happened.

If it's something shocking, it's something that won't be pleasant for the family (and they can keep things quiet).

That's why I check NAMUS periodically, to see if his page disappears. If it does, we know he's been located.

We won't know what happened if he's found alive and well. If he was murdered or involved in criminal activity, we will hear it.

I would venture to say, this hasn't been pleasant for the family since day one.

As you know - I do hope he is alive and well. ;)

BBM...Won't go into it, but you all know I think he is ;).

You do? I didn't know that.

I don't even remember you spelling out your theory in full.

Care to do so, in detail?
After all of this time, wouldn't it be a courtesy to the family to do so?

Well, I am finally coming back to reading post. My husband had surgery, I had surgery, and the dog had surgery! But we are all doing pretty well, and have made the Dr.s pockets a little fuller.

I was wondering, was the street SK was on in Hurricane, Valley View Drive?

Whew! I'm glad you're all OK now!

Yes, Valley View Drive. I posted a "neighborhood view" map here a few weeks ago, using a RANDOM (FAKE) NUMBER as the street address -- to show what the neighborhood looked like and to protect the innocent. .

It was also a trick I played on the person who is stalking some of us, and it worked. They promptly sent me an email detailing the crimes being committed by people living at THAT FAKE ADDRESS.

If anyone else is receiving such communications, I say it's time to complain to their ISP for harrassment and stalking.

Me, too.

If he's a crime victim, it will be newsworthy.
But if he has died by his own hand or by natural causes, I think it will be very quiet.

There's been a local movement to keep family privacy intact.

For instance, a local child was injured in a non-crime home incident and later died. The family wouldn't talk publicly about it, and due to HIPPA, there was no medical information to report. Only after the family submitted the obituary, did the newspaper have information about the child's death - and they published only a short notice, without a name. You had to have followed the entire series of events, for two weeks, to put it all together.

I'm sure all of this is tough on families; things revealed and speculated on. You need publicity, but you hate the results of the publicity. I'm sure all of us would feel like our entire family's privacy had been ripped apart, due to a disappearance.

But in the end, a family wants their loved one back, safely.
After a period of time, they begin to move to "what happened?"

Was there ever any update or follow thru on guy who visited the dentist?

Hope it was nothing serious and everyone including the little woofer is on the road to recovery.

It was all speculation based on info gleaned from his FB page. Granted it was only speculation and nothing from the main stream media so it wasn't fact based, but I did pass it on to NV LE.

The family seems not to want any involvement from outside sources any longer as it has been undertaken by family and church. At least that's what I sensed from the last search and remarks made to the media.... so I doubt that we will hear anything if he is alive and well. JMO

Keep an eye on his MP status-it will suddenly go poof if he is found alive and well and restored to his family, and sometimes if LE closes the case. Sometimes they leave it on the books if it is an adult who has the right to disappear and does not want his/her location disclosed to family.

I hear what you're saying, but I think there'd be some seriously-angry friends if that happened. Lots of them have travelled from other states to help search for him. I don't think they could all be convinced to keep quiet, if they knew he'd been found safely. If a distant friend/relative was still engaged in "search", and found out he'd turned up months before, I think they'd spill the beans quickly.

If he turns up alive, that's all we need to know. We're not entitled to details.

It's been five days since the Cedar City body was found, and there's still no news. Even though I doubt it's Steven, it seems extraordinarily long, when there's identification with the remains.

Were the remains relatively intact? If the dentals were not distinctive or partial, they might have chosen to go with DNA...which is not overnight, contrary to CSI, but I know you all know that.

I agree, but I think we are talking about an essentially closed society, perhaps. Depending on his condition, they might just circle the wagons. I have seen it happen I am very sorry to say. LE is 50/50 I have found with letting it out. Some find a way to spill it to give the family closure-some just keep it tight depending on the MP. I do not know about Henderson, but I dealt with an awesome guy who was LVPD who did not let it leak at all...even though he spoke with the missing man on the phone. The family had to wait almost 3 more years before he surfaced.

The body was found inside a sleeping bag, with the identification, but also described as "too poor condition" .... so it's hard to say what's going on. I could see a need for DNA if skeletal remains were scattered, but the description leads me to believe everything was contained.

But yeah....the DNA confirmation could take awhile. Our missing persons lists have no other men missing within a year...or even two.
