Just throwing this out there...

Steven was in that neighborhood to meet someone for some reason - seems to be pretty much a given...

But to meet this person only to hop in their car and go wherever makes no sense to me. If he was meeting someone to go somewhere why do it in a neighborhood. Why not park at a mall, strip mall, casino, grocery store...

For some reason I can't seem to wrap my head around meeting someone in a neighborhood...not parking in front or very close by their house...only to have to walk and meet up with them to hop in their car...

JMO

Yes, IF he was meeting someone.

But I don't think that's a given. I believe it's an equal possibility that he parked there randomly and walked into the hills.....

Okay so my thoughts - Naegle - we appreciate you & appreciate what you are going through. So many times in the LDS life & I'm sure outside of it - we meet up for luncheons especially on sundays- it could have been a luncheon with a family or maybe a friend visiting family in anthem - just a possibility -
Naegle I was also wondering if Steven was into doing family history because maybe he was meeting up with someone to talk about that - maybe even lured there by that. And maybe the person said sundaywas the only time they could meet. - I'm just trying to think of things that could have brought him to anthem. Maybe the person told him to park in the cul-de-sac saying there was no place to park at their address. I know many of ws have touchedon some of these ideas. My new thoughts are:
maybe a meeting or lured to talk about family history
or a lunch with an old friend or something along those lines. :) hope this throws out some new ideas.

I do alot of ancestry stuff online. I doubt that Steven would get into that and spend the subscription fees at ancestry.com if he was as poor as a church mouse.

Wasn't someone going to post some information they found connecting a resident on Evening Lights to Sacramento?

Oh right webrocket - but the church has a lot of free resources & some of those sights can be accessed through the church on their subscriptions. :)

IIRC - it was reported a while back that Steven was very much into family history research and the possibility of his being in Henderson for that purpose was discussed.

Isn't there a resouce run by LDS members involving ancestry?
Are Steven's parents his biological parents? I know, seems odd, but just wondering if maybe he was searching for bio family.

  • #668
oh thanks Fairy must have missed that - sorry
Yep 4bb there is - a huge resource bank. My mom & aunt have met up with people they connected with to talk and exchange information :)

I don't see why this couldn't be the reason Steven was in Vegas. Sounds entirely plausible to me.

I know huh that's what I was thinking Fairy - totally plausible huh - I've been trying to think of different things all day - brainstorming this & that & decided to go back to my LDS roots & this was one of my first thoughts. - I'll keep brainstorming

My bold and italics. GREAT question.

We can regroup here-

Naegle, perhaps you and Steven's family can decide what you want help with and tell us.

  • #673
That is a good question because if he was looking for his bio fam. sometimes you keep that private & if meeting up that's a pretty private thing. I found my bio mom & kept private for a while & was a little uncomfortable with the group meeting with my real family & my bio mom - so could totally be plausible - good thought 4bb

She was asking for help with cellphone tower triangulation; however, other than "Overton tower", we have no other information.

This is a fabulous idea! And honestly, that's the only way I'll help from here.

No, he's not adopted.

Naegle,

I am sorry if my thoughts offended you. I can't imagine being in your situation...which is why I would like so much to help you find Steven.

I mostly was just hoping that you could dispell some of the theories that were put out, but it sounds like there is NOTHING that is impossible, making this even harder for you I am sure.

You and your family are in my families thoughts and prayers daily.

I would really like help on the cell phone tower stuff. The problem is that I have 20 pages of "which cell phone towers had his signal", but they're an absolute mess. They printed out funny and I never saw the original to put them back together. When/if I get them cleaned up I will certainly get back to you all.

I also looked at his phone records and sadly they cut of on the 13th for calls and the 12th for texts. I thought the "dog that didn't bark" idea was good, but I don't have the info.

I agree that the Kmart videos would have been nice, but this was over a month ago. We couldn't even get videos from the gas station 2 weeks after. I guess we'll know better next time.

Do any of you have any advice on how to get our family more organized? His parents are so worn out and we can't get things to happen as fast as we'd like.

Hi Naegle. I just tried alternate route 2 coming home from work - and used another route going in this morning. No luck today, but it's raining so not a lot of folks are out and about on foot. Perhaps this is a going to be a good night for Steven to visit the IHOP. :)

I've never seen cell phone tower records, so am at a loss as to how to get them organized and figure out what they mean. If you can work on that part, I'll check around WS and see if we can't get one of our resident experts to work with you when you're ready. There are some members who really know their stuff.

As far as organizing other pieces of the puzzle - you may find Laytonian's timeline very helpful. I really sat down and studied it yesterday and came up with a couple of new questions I hadn't thought of before. You can find the link below her signature on any post.

What else can we do to help?

My only piece of advice for you KC since I am inexperienced compared to others on this board is this: don't brush off the things that seem as suspicious to the people on this board. We are outsiders and have the benefit of an objective viewpoint.

And lots of experience.
