Perhaps they will have much to report or share...and areas where we can fill in!!!

I think so.

Let's wait to hear what they want and need.

We're here to help them (not the other way around).

I am going to follow through with LE and see if I can get info on the ground/air search that was done and the dogs used....

I just heard from KC Naegle. Her email "voice" sounds very tired.

believe09 -- I sent her your questions about "what kind of search dogs" and "did they check the nearby ponds/lakes".

I'll post the answers on a web page, as usual -- but since yesterday's list was short, here they are:

----------------------------------------

"Here you go! Unfortunately, no news from the trip. I'm getting good pictures for you all though."

Q: Did Steven participate, at all, in the Proposition 8 drive in '08?
A: Nope

Q: What kind of mail has Steven received, since he disappeared?
Q: Any bills?
A: IDK He did have some automatic payments that kept going this month, but those have been investigated.
Q: Any credit card statements?
A: His credit card was one of the auto payments.

Q: Any evidence of him taking out a new credit card? (Bills might just be coming in)

Q: Has anyone signed him up here? It might be interesting.
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
(That's the ONLY genuine "free credit report" website)

Q: Was Steven driving his own car, when he showed up in Ruby Valley?
A: As far as we know.

Q: Does anyone know WHO he was soliciting window-washing/Christmas light work from?
A: Probably both (Homeowners? Businesses? Both?)

Q: Has anyone contacted cab companies?
Henderson Taxi
1910 Industrial Road
Las Vegas, Nevada 89102
Phone: 702-384-2322
A: No... I'll see what I can do, but wouldn't there be phone records?
(My Reply: He could have used a pay phone)

Q: Are any taxis seen on the security video? This is what they'd look like:
Scheme #1: BLACK SKIRTING, WHITE BODY, YELLOW ROOF
Scheme #2: BLACK SKIRTING, WHITE BODY, 6” HORIZONTAL YELLOW STRIPE
A: None that we've seen so far. Particularly none on Sunday.

I'm sad this is how it has to end for now...but I think it's good for me. I know it will give me some time to investigate the leads I found without all the "other" ideas I read spinning around in my head. Too many intelligent people on this thread!

Toodles...till we get some more info.

I'm with you. I will go by the DI on Boulder Highway on Monday and see if I can speak to someone personally. Other than that, I'm out of ideas until we can get something more concrete to go on.

I have mainly been following the threads on www.websleuths.com. Um, they have said that his computer checks out normal.

-------------------------

I don't think anyone here has said anything close to that, have they?

In fact, hasn't it been the consensus here that the computer needs to be forensically scanned by independent experts?

I'm not going to say anything over there, but why would someone (purposely?) misrepresent what's been said here?

I think it has been mentioned that his computer was checked out (by Naegle's family), but we were concerned the hard drive had not been forensically searched.

Some people pick and choose as to what they want to see per se on forums of this type. The forum takes on a dynamic all of its own and unfortunately many can get bogged down in a little thing rather than the purpose or big picture. KWIM??

I wanted to post this link that has some other resources for families of missing people. I'm not sure if anyone wants to follow up on these or if these could be forwarded to KC. It is things like Project Jason and NCMA. I know there are several links that have been pursued, but there were some new ones to me.

Things I am sure the family has to initiate and I am not sure if they have. But wanted to put it out there.

So I had no idea about these social groups that were just discontinued until I read the recent posting by the developers/moderators of this site. Did you guys have one for Steven? I'm only asking b/c if there was...does that mean there is information discussed in there that was not shared here? Now I am confused about those groups and these threads. Maybe this website wasn't what I thought it was. Can someone shed some light on this? Sorry to ask about this in here, a forum about Steven, but this is the case that brought me here.

"snipped" from the Project Edan website

"The first step is the most critical: The missing loved one MUST be reported missing to a law enforcement agency, and that agency MUST enter the record into NCIC (the National Crime Information Center). This must happen IMMEDIATELY. Federal law prohibits the establishment of a waiting period to report someone missing. I don't care if the person was last seen walking out the door ten minutes ago- they are gone now! "

also snipped "Even more staggering is that only about 7,000 are being actively entered into the FBI's NCIC "

I wanted to bring that up as maybe a reminder. I am not sure if it has been done by LE as there is so much we don't know, but it may help KC while working with LE this weekend as a reminder if they have not.

Here is another link for helps with missing family

hope this helps?

AFAIK, the social groups at WS were discontinued over six months ago. Way before Steven went missing.

I have regular contact with LE, so I will post info to share as I receive it-no need to catch Naegle with my questions, laytonian. I can close the loop with her as well especially if the bulk of you are going to head to other cases.

I wont speak for you, but I am far from done here. Steven is missing and his family is suffering-unless I hear he has been discovered this weekend, we have many loose ends still worth sleuthing.

Because the bulk of you are "newbies" I want to remind you to read the TOS thoroughly for the sight. This is a heavily moderated board that requires respectful posting and open minds. As you move on to other cases and encounter seasoned members and moderators, they can help you figure out how things are done here. If you find there is a post that is disrespectful towards you, hit the red triangle at the top of the post and write your concerns. If there is a poster on the board who simply annoys you, you have the capacity to put them on ignore so that you no longer have to read their posts or receive PM's....

PM's are a method of contacting one another with sensitive information you do not wish to post-you all know of course that you can exchange email addys at your own discretion. While PM's are private messages, my personal approach to them is that I rarely include info that can not be read by anyone. JMO. If you copy someone's PM or post and reproduce it outside the sight without their permission, it is a violation of TOS. Exceptions to this have to do with LE situations....such as in the case of a subpoena.

IIRC - another ground search is scheduled for next weekend. Believe09 - if you can verify that with LE and find out where the search is to be conducted, I would be grateful. I'd also like to know what agencies will be involved.

Done Fairy-I will post anything I get for info. Some of you local might want to volunteer if they are looking for participants. Getting a chance to talk first hand to the family and searchers can be priceless if you have never done it!!

No can do for me. I'm going to have to restrict my search skills to live people - which I truly believe Steven is.

I'm really hoping that after this weekend, there will be no need for another ground search. Hope springs eternal!

Spill girl-what inside info do you have that says this is a cadaver search??!!!!

I honestly don't recall - but I think Naegle told me that last weekend??? I won't swear to it! As I said, I really hope it won't come to that.

I should add - the word cadaver was not mentioned. I'm assuming that would be the purpose of a ground seach. I was thinking dogs, aerial, etc. - like they did that last w/e of December.

Yes, it does. That's why, even though it's a tenuous link to the case, those two tips do kinda keep our hope up.

As to the "unmentionable", I use this link as a heads-up on several missing persons cases.

Re searches......just my own thoughts/experience on them....

When Jody King went missing in May 2009 in CT, I was the family contact. The family shared information with me which, at the request of the family, was not posted to WS .

Based on that information, I strongly believed Jody was alive and in the midst of a psychotic break. So much so that whenever a reported sighting came in, I would drop what I was doing and drive the hour+ distance to get fliers out asap. Also spent much time & my money sending out fliers to every LE agency in MA so they would BOLO for a live Jody.

But I also took part in the searches where the purpose was clearly to recover a deceased Jody. It didn't matter what I believed, bottom line was I didn't KNOW what happened to Jody. What I did know was that a recovery search is when the family needs the most support. imo It is when the depth of their love for the missing person becomes the reigning emotion....they want their loved one home no matter what emotional hell the significance of such a search puts them through.

I was wrong in my belief. Jody was found deceased....and I am damn thankful that I put aside my own beliefs and stood by what LTWH stands for......taking part in a joint effort to bring a missing person home.

Again...just my own thoughts/experience.....

I totally get where you're coming from and you definitely went above and beyond with Jody's case. I just know my limitations. I have made myself available to Steven's family, but have not been called upon since my trip to IHOP. All I can say is that we're dealing with a totally different situation here. IMO.
