Marcyjoy,
I think the car was dumped there. The cameras have nothing at all to do with anything. The cameras are happenstance. IMHO. Respectfully, in what respects does the person seen fleetingly on those videos closely resemble Steven Koecher ?

Marcyjoy -- I tend to agree with you.
I can't "put" Steven there at all. But I can see a car being abandoned there.

We've all seen recent pictures of Steven. He's a pretty big (hefty) guy. The figure in the video looks (at least to me) much thinner.

I know the family believes it's Steven....but it's really not clear enough to tell for sure. From what I can see, the "portfolio" is the only clue that leads one to believe it IS him....because it would be random for someone else to **coincidentally** carry one.

If I were Steven's family, I'd want it to be him in the video.
But we have to look at this clinically.

Are you saying you don't believe it's Steven in the video? I've always kind of taken that for granted - only because we know his car was located nearby and see it driving by shortly before "Steven" appears on the video. Though I admit, I wouldn't want to swear on my life it was him. Just seemed to be a logical conclusion.

And of course, that 's where the logic ends.

Are we any closer to knowing where and when Steven's phone pinged before it stopped? I'm especially interested in whether it pinged in the Vegas area prior to the calls from his church friends. If we can't confirm that is Steven on the video, we really have nothing to support his being here at all. I believe his father said early on in an interview something along the lines that just because Steven said he was in Las Vegas doesn't mean he really was.

If there was some underhanded transaction going on involving Steven's car, he may have just said he was in Vegas to further whatever plan was in the works.

I'm saying there's some logic in someone else (who knew the area better than Steven) dumping the car there. It explains a lot of the head-banging questions we've had about Steven being there.

This case would be a lot easier, without that video. We could pretend another car followed him in and picked him up. But there's eyes on that video, and we've not heard about any discoveries.

Last we heard from Naegle about the cell phone triangulation: "not yet".

So true. But then we have NO clue where to look for him!

I'm going to try the DI on Flamingo again today and I'll continue doing what I can to substantiate the possible sightings of Steven there have been around town. At least it gives me something I can do other than :banghead: and driving myself crazy going back and forth!

The guy is travelling all over the place, not paying his bills, and two officials in the church end up in Vegas on the same day--one not knowing what the other was doing there. Yeah, right.

I always thought the same thing. There is something big that we are missing; and most of all the chances of two of the church leaders being in Vegas in the same day at the same time, on a Sunday?!?! Seems crazy to me....

I brought up the point early on that this may or may not have been Steven on the video. I know the family thinks it's him and I would also want to think that. I don't blame them. I wonder if Steven's dad had to move the seat or mirrors at all to be able to drive Steven's car. If he did or didn't I would be curious to know his height compared to Steven's. Personally I think things "fit" better if it's not him in the video. It makes GW's statement of "go ahead and do whatever it is your doing down there" that I'm not supposed to know about (wink wink) make more sense.
There are just so many things that we have asked, that I feel the answers to, are very easy to obtain, and we still don't have the answers. I think we are asking the right questions. I wish we could know if our questions were at least being followed up on or told that it can't be discussed because it's still part of the investigation. I don't blame Naegle for not getting us the answers. She is only one person.

I found SA's cell number and think I may just call him and ask him the questions myself. Is it ok to call him if I found the number on a public website?

SA?? sorry I have missed something...or someone. Naegle is speaking for Steven and his family and we limit the number of people reaching out because it becomes rapidly confusing...on any given day 17 or more people are watching this thread alone-can you imagine if everyone was calling family with their own questions?

We promised to try and streamline this for them I think...

I know it's frustrating. It's frustrating for the family, for Naegle, for all of us.

This is a family in pain, and we're doing our best to get information while also respecting their privacy and the investigation. Some of the questions may seem "easy", but (IMO) most of the answers have to stay in the LE community and even the family doesn't know.

Remember: EVERYONE is a person of interest, until a suspect is charged.

I don't know ('cos I'm kinda dense sometimes) who SA is...but I think it's best to remember that this is an ongoing police investigation, and that interfering could complicate things if this does turn out to be a criminal case. Or could put yourself in danger.

SA is the church member who called Steven while he was "in Vegas" to see if he could fill in for GW, I think.

Ahhh...you're right. And I'm right when I say I'm dense ;)
I don't think we should be calling him (or anyone else whose name comes up).

I've been hoping that one or more of those guys would come over here and help us out. They have to know we're here. But don't you think they're all staying quiet, out of their Priesthood positions and the fact that LE has probably told them not to talk about it?

I am saying that I doubt that is Steven in those videos because there are some facts that make me doubt it. I'm not reaching this conclusion out of frustration.
Fairy wrote that Steven's father said in an interview that just because Steven said he was in Las Vegas does not mean he was really there ( paraphrasing big time, but that's the gist). What an interesting statement that is. Why wouldn't Steven be where he said he was ? Did he often not tell people the truth about things like that ?
If I recall is Mr.Webb a counselor ? Could it maybe be useful to re-examine his role and statements in this ?

I agree with what you all have posted concerning my post and I agree with you all. I'm just frustrated.

Can somebody explain the mailbox to me? I still get delivery to my door.

I know each box has it's own key, but are there slots in each box that flyers could be put in? It looks like there isn't but I'm asking anyway.

Oh, and I wanted to mention, after looking at the pics... I think he probably parked on that side of the cul de sac so he wouldn't be parked by the fire hydrant.

Good luck getting anywhere with this! GW was the Elders Quorom President and Steven was his counselor.

Has anyone searched to see what events were going on in Las Vegas the days
he was there?

I've seen flyers posted on the outside of the big box (sorry - don't know how else to describe it!), but I don't think you could get a flyer inside the individual boxes. There are no slots. You may be able to get a business card through.

Good point about the hydrant.

I finally got to the DI on Flamingo today. It's just a thrift store and donation center - no welfare offices. I spoke to the store manager and showed him the poster - he said they already had one. So that was good news.

Not sure if there's any importance to this but driving along Boulder Highway I noticed some activity at the homeless camp down the street from the IHOP. There were a couple of vehicles parked there (not LE) and I actually saw a bunch of people inside the fence this time! Maybe nothing to do with Steven, but you never know.
