Neither did the person who found my phone, four years ago. Fifteen minutes after I knew I'd lost it, I called it and no one answered so I left a voicemail saying "I am the owner of this phone Please call me at (other number) so I can give you a reward in return for finding my phone." Yet, they continued to use it for about half a day until it went dead, according to my later billing records. Just local calls, no one called Brazil.

Around here, there's quite a black market in "found" cell phones -- drug dealers buy them in bulk and use them until they run out, then throw them away.

...and chargers are pretty available, too. Use 'em until found out ;)

I thought my $100 reward might have been worth it to forgo a few drug buys. But I left it at Market Street Grill in SLC, and we were driving back 15 minutes later when we realized it was gone.....and it was really really gone. I'd blame the kitchen slaves ;)

If there were restrictions on his phone, LE or family would know about it.

....or may have placed restrictions on it, in order to spot movements if it's used again.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Remember all of the publicity about Steven having applied to BB/BS and his father stating in the presser that he was "active"?

Why haven't we heard anything from that organization? One of their active volunteers just goes missing....and they don't notice? Or don't make a statement?

And they probably won't share the information either way.

Before we had kids, my husband participated in this. When he didn't have a child assigned to him, he wasn't involved much. Maybe Steven was in transition, waiting for a child, so no one in the organization was really affected. But I agree...either way you would think there would be something.

Wonder why he didn't put SLT job on here March /07 -July/08. FWIW Big Brothers / Big Sisters is on there. And it does seem like he was looking for work in LV. Nevada area.

We saw that he left the SLTrib job off his LinkedIn profile....and we couldn't figure out why. The Trib said he "left of his own accord" when some of us asked early on (pre-WS) on the trib website.

I even contacted some ex-Trib co-workers, and all I got was "great guy". Some suspect that maybe he wasn't in good graces, and was allowed to quit.

I dunno. Maybe he just started filling out the profile, and got distracted?

We've later learned he worked construction, continued in a "management" function at KUTE radio, and worked at FedEx.

Yes, it is possible he wouldn't get a good recommendation . Because with him being there 16 months that is better than the other which is 8 months. Would have shown more stability.

That sounds like another one of the things the family has exaggerated to make Steven fit more into their model of what kind of person he was "supposed" to be.

The good people at Food Not Bombs Las Vegas have confirmed receipt of our information about Steven's disappearance, and are passing it along to their entire listserv.

I'd probably do the same. I'd want everyone to know my son was as pure as the driven snow, because the opposite could cause people to not be curious, thus not search for him.

Like one of the similar cases we looked at and the "drug" rumors. That made the father mad, but maybe the *kind* of drugs made him even angrier ;)

could someone random have reffered him to an elderly person in SCA needing christmas lights put up?

I do not think Steven would work on Sunday. Knowing his religious views, I just do not think he would have set something up for work. I find it strange, that when he "supposedly'' talked to a few people on Sunday, that he did not say why he was there. If he was not going to be at church, I think he would have told GW, why he was not going to be there. Because he would have to have a reason he was not going to be there. If you had a church job, or was asked to be there for a paticular reason, I do not think he would not give a reason.

I guess anything's possible ... but considering the time and expensive in driving four hours round trip (St George - South of Vegas - St George), why couldn't a local do it cheaper?

Plus, if you were doing a job AT an address, why park far away and walk -- and not even bring a ladder with you?

Dec 13th's a bit late for Christmas lights in this part of the country. The big displays go "live" by Thanksgiving.

Well...he definitely put *something* ahead of his chuch calling on Dec 13th ... but work seems the least logical. If he had a work appointment at an address, he'd have parked there. An interview is one thing (also unlikely, IMO), but actual work? You park there.
