I suppose for a fee and no illegal purpose, anyone can do those background checks these days on the internet.

What I fail to grasp is that if Steven was visiting someone in SCA, who unbeknownst to Steven, had a criminal background, and said person killed Steven, why on earth would said person LEAVE THE CAR in SCA so as to draw attention to the neighborhood?

Personally, I do not think Steven was meeting someone who lived there. I think he met someone he knew there. Telling Steven to meet him at his mom, friends, aunts, etc. and made up a reason to meet him there." Hey, since we are both here, lets do lunch, meet me, and we will hop in my car".

the person had a plan. Steven knew something or ? What do you think?

Well....I've never settled on just one thing.

Here's my options, as usual:
1 - Someone told him to park the car at that one-off dead-end (someone who knew about it because it was safe from commercial areas with their security cameras), then he met them and left with them OR he waited for the cab that the other person had ordered for him. As Webrocket just said: why leave the car in a location that you have links to? I also like the hotel idea, because that explains the cellphone use the next morning. BUT I'm not sure whether he left with a "friendly" or if this was a set-up after he'd done "deliveries/favors" for someone.
OR
2 - He drove around until found a "safe" place to leave the car, then walked into the hills (which he thought were closer than they actually are). I believe he MAY have returned to the car and slept in it, and then walked west through the gate and into the hills.

I just got another note from a young man who knows Steven. He will also be joining the group tomorrow. he has kept in contact with me for the last weeks, doing what he thought he could do to help.he told me not a day went by, he did not think about Steven, wishing he could do something. He got to know Steven from their ward, and only had wonderful things to say about him. He , on his ow, went through people with criminal backgrounds in the area where sk's car was found. I thought that was great that he did that. He feels as though, Steven was involved with foul play.

You that are down there tomorrow,thank-you.

He has all the information -- right?
KCN sent me the list of those who'd responded via the website, in case there was some last-minute issue that needed to be taken care of.

This next comment of mine is a double edged sword. It is by no means probable but is still possible. I'm just playing out the scenario.

If I were going to disappear, I would certainly take my laptop. BDW or whoever may have instructed him to bring the laptop with him and became irate that Steven left it behind. Even though by all appearances (at least what we've been told) there is not much on there, BDW or whoever, may have felt betrayed and did Steven harm.

Having said that, there was always the risk to BDW or whoever, that the laptop would in fact lead investigators to BDW so it might not have been the wisest course of action to kill Steven.

I'm not convinced there is any body laying in a field near the airport. I doubt that BDW harmed Steven in any way. I'm just saying that BDW may have lost trust in Steven by his not living up to the agreement to bring the laptop with him.

I realize there are homeless people everywhere, and especially in Vegas! But at least people are looking and paying attention. And maybe the person living in those conditions can be helped.

Or had been.

It's important to start with this one, and read the accompanying text. Then, click "previous" to see the next two.

If they suspect Steven was living there, it makes one wonder why? He could have slept in his car. And wouldn't the people in those nearby homes have noticed? It's a long way from a grocery store, unless that person was raiding dumpsters.

It's definitely interesting and I hope LE **does** look at it closely.

I don't think it was Steven living there. Perhaps someone was previously living in the tent that was homeless. If anything the garbage and various items would be worth checking out.

why would he go all the way to Vegas to live in a homeless camp?

It doesn't make sense, does it?
But does anything else he did that last week, make any more sense?

For that to be Steven's camp, he'd have had to set it up, parked the car at noon and then walked back to the camp.

If there's one homeless person there, there's more -- and that leads to an idea about an encounter with someone like that, who stole from Steven -- including his cellphone.

Steven's friend said he noticed Steven giving a lesson at church in Nov. had a very difficult time. He could barely get through a sentence. And would stop for about 5 seconds, then try and go on. He said he had not noticed it had been that bad before.
I teach disable people. Many of them that have brain injuries, seizures, do this.
The fellow that was tayseres in Utah(in Tribune today) took his clothes off. My sister is bi polar , she slurs her words, does bizarre things. Has been in the hospital for long periods. I am wondering if Steven was ill?

Your right, it does not make sense. Something was going on in his life.

So the campsite should be searched for the phone, or anything else that might have been Steven's.

I just wanted to say, I really am NOT a bad typist. But I dropped a book on my computor and broke keys. Please forgive my letters. Sometimes they do not come out. I am just a little embarassed!

  • #276
I just heard from the fellow that took the pictures of the campsite. I asked him if he thought it was a male living there. He said he believed so. If you have questions, ask him now. He just answered, so he is at the computor.

That campsite is southwest of where Steven was last seen, and in the opposite direction that Steven took, but I still think it should be checked out.

The poster of the pictures did say he called LE and they were sending someone out.

I think so. It could even be a pile of stuff that someone had "collected" and left there. That's not uncommon among the homeless.

We, and at least two of his friends, have wondered the same thing.

Unfortunately, if he's found tomorrow, we'll never have answers.

Just on the news ABC in Salt Lake, a tip came in today, that someone matching steven's description was seen seen at a homeless shelter. They are following the lead.
