''This week marks 20 years since the body of a teenage mother from New Jersey was found off a Las Vegas highway.
The cousin of Victoria Camara spoke publicly today for the first time since her murder in an exclusive interview with News 12 senior reporter Tara Rosenblum.''
She just was thrown like a piece of trash in the desert," said Kaila Donaldson. "It's terrible. It's kind of like when you first hear it, it's unbelievable. It feels like a Lifetime movie."
........................................
''She was a beautiful person, very artistic, she loved makeup, she loved building things," says Donaldson. "We used to play with Legos all the time, but she was just the person that I can go and talk to you about anything. My confidant as a child."

.........................................
''Donaldson says Camara turned to prostitution after becoming a single teenage mom and struggled to feed herself and infant child. "She just did what she had to do to survive, and unfortunately that's what she was doing," says Donaldson.

Donaldson told Rosenblum that she feels as though that is the reason Camara's case was cast aside, with little interest from the media and law enforcement.''
..
''Suspected Gilgo Beach murder Rex Heuermann has ties to the Las Vegas metropolitan area and owns a timeshare a few miles off the Vegas strip. Police in Las Vegas confirmed to the Turn to Tara team that they are reviewing unsolved cases for any potential connection to Heuermann - cases like the long dormant investigation into Camara's murder.''

@Pinkizzy, You did not forget Victoria, thank you for bringing her name forward on the RH thread, hope she gets a bit more attention now!

''LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — She has a face you've likely never seen, a name you've probably never heard, and next week marks the 20th anniversary of her murder. It's a cold case a Las Vegas victim's family said no one cared about until the recent arrest of an alleged serial killer in New York caused police to take a second look.''

''Property records obtained by 13 Investigates show Heuermann bought a timeshare in 2004 at the Club Wyndham Grand Desert on Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane. He later sold it in 2013.

Public documents also show he still owns another timeshare at Club de Soleil on Tropicana Avenue and Lindell Road, purchased with his wife in 2005.''
...................
"She has a daughter who just wants answers," Donaldson said. "If it is connected, then great. We can move forward with some answers."

But if it isn't, Donaldson hopes her cousin's long-unsolved murder will at least get the attention they've been praying for.

"So that way her spirit can rest easy. I wouldn't want anybody to just forget about me if I had died without a reason."

Two decades ago, a gravel truck driver made a gruesome discovery along a grassy deserted stretch of US-95.

"She just was thrown like a piece of trash in the desert," said Kaila Donaldson, the victim's first cousin and childhood best friend. "You first hear it. It's unbelievable. It feels like a Lifetime movie."

The discarded body belonged to a young sex worker named Victoria Camara.

"She was a beautiful person, very artistic. She loved makeup. She loved building things. We used to play with Legos all the time. She was just the person that I could go and talk to about anything."

"She didn't have any stable environment from day one," Donaldson said.

In her first interview since Victoria's murder 20 years ago, Donaldson revealed that her cousin turned to prostitution after becoming a single, teenage mom and struggled to feed herself and her baby.

"She just did what she had to do to survive and unfortunately, that's what she was doing."

"As soon as you bring up yes, she's doing sex work, it's like well, let's put her to the bottom of the list."

Victoria was dumped near Eldorado Range, which is a City Government Office (Chamber of Commerce) for Boulder City

Camara, originally from New Jersey, was a teen mom who turned to sex work to make ends meet. Her body was found in Boulder City off US 95 20 years ago. She had been strangled.

Not dismembered, correct ?

Savanah Camara says she only has photographs left to remind her of her mother, Victoria, because she was barely 1 year old when her 17-year-old mom was discovered dead off a remote Las Vegas highway

"Somebody took my mom's life without regard," she says

Camara, a N. High School graduate who now lives in the Bronx, says she's been searching for answers for as long as she can remember.

She says she's now somewhat in disbelief that there might be a break in the case on the two-decade anniversary of her mother's death.

Whether or not it turns out that Rex Heuermann had a hand in her mother's death, Camara is hoping all the renewed focus on her cold case will result in justice for her family.
"I just hope it gets us the answers we've all been looking for. Honestly, it will definitely help a lot," she says.

DNA from the alleged Gilgo Beach murderer is being compared to DNA evidence collected in the murder case of a New Jersey woman who was killed in Nevada in 2003. Victoria Camara, a teen mother who turned to sex work, was strangled and dumped in a remote desert area in Boulder City. Authorities said accused serial killer Rex Heuermann frequented the area and bought a timeshare condo in Las Vegas in 2004. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy discusses the latest developments in Heuermann’s case with retired NYPD Sgt. Joe Giacalone and retired LVMPD detective Phil Ramos.'

Well I’m seriously hoping that it’s only taken so long because LE and investigators are grouping Victoria and the other missing women from Vegas together, so that they will charge him all at once (this has been similar to how they have released RH’s charges already and how it looks like they may be grouping the Manorville males).
Hopefully when they finally let us know about the DNA, we will get the news for all of them at once.

At the time of her disappearance she was going under the alias Samantha Sanchez and had numerous contacts and arrests with law enforcement in the weeks before her death in casinos. She had been trespassed from a casino on the same day she was discovered. I think it just may have taken a day or two to process in the police documents I don't know law enforcement or gaming establishments.

I imagine those casinos involved with these incidents have incredible video footage even 20 years ago, and do to the type of business they are it is possible that old footage is stored on a disk or drive in a box somewhere. Maybe all the casinos should be asked if they have video from that date I dunno. They could have done this in 2006 pretty easily when they documented in court records that they were the same person. Maybe they did... But I doubt it.

The possibility of lisk connection finally got her death the attention it deserved, but the DNA didn't match him so now she's just another dead prostitute. I personally feel that the police owe it to Kaila and Victorias daughter to do familial DNA. They missed opportunities to try to solve this case and only cared when it was a serial killer in the spotlight.

I doubt they still have footage tbh
