Thanks for the laugh. My girlfriend complained to her husband's tailor that she feared her husband was shrinking because his pants were all frayed at the bottom. The tailor responded that her husband was doing the opposite of shrinking. His gaining weight was causing him to wear his pants lower on his waist and that's why his pants were fraying.

She has lost her husband to the the sad under-belly of the waist-land my friend. Sad indeed. The alternative is not much better, LOL

Thanks mmarty - I alerted a mod to your request for the thread name change. Thank you for responding to our questions and giving us your preferences. It helps keeps us focused on what is needed and how we can be most helpful.

LOL - that is much better than the one I was thinking about with the shoes. People with big feet have a good understanding.

Personally I don't think we need 2 threads as we are keeping up the list with all of the post numbers referenced for each missing person. LEO has indicated they are continually working on the list and it is working currently. The rest of the sleuthing can continue until we find the match (or extremely close ones) on this thread right along side the submissions of possible matches to the UID.

I plan on reposting the updated list every 100 posts or so and the tags below indicate where the alpha list is last posted. JMO
I agree. I think two threads will be more difficult for the detectives to keep up with.

Mmarty, the NaMus site mentioned that the piece of tee was found attached around the neck and upper rt arm of the UID. Since you were the one holding the tee in place, is it possible to give us some sense of orientation as to which part of the t-shirt might be closest to the neck part? Are the feathers we're viewing in the photo on this page (closest to your rt index finger) nearest to the neckline/top part of the tee?

  • #526
mmarty, since the neckband was found (intact?) do you have the tag and the info from it?

I too thought that ... It didn't look like the bottom of the wings to me, I thought it was something else ... Like maybe it's a bird on the tree facing up or down, depending on which way is up ...

  • #529
I know I need to take a break when my son alerts me that I'm wearing two pair of reading glasses at the same time---one on my nose and one on the top of my head. I'm seeing doubles staring at tee-shirts and logos. Time for a rest until I'm feeling better.

  • #530
As stated by someone above, yes please, stay the course on the t-shirt, it is vital to this investigation and my partner and I greatly appreciate all the work and dedication that you are all putting forth with us.

I am happy to hear you think it is vital. It is one solid visual clue which I think we can find a reference to... Somewhere!

Every similar image that I have seen has the bird with wings outstretched over a sun or moon. A lot are Native American themed, but some other images I found are also astrological with the red hawk /Aries/ harvest moon as a theme. Native American theme vintage tee shirts are very popular on sites like Etsy and in the fashion world right now, so I have been searching those. It was the perfect time to ask for help on this shirt!

On the other hand, shirt wise, it may not be within that sphere, so have also done a few searches with the patent and trademark site (uspto.) no luck so far, but I found several things that did not come up with regular searches! Will try to do more later!

I tried the band shirt avenue but got stuck and then sidetracked on Neil Young. (Harvest moon)

eTA: this was the closest image I could find online :

Was the caller a male or female?

I am thinking two people placed the body and used two different cars. If the shoes were taken by animals in an attempt to get a loose foot, bite marks and claws marks would be seen on the shoes and most likely decomposition fluid staining. Does the area flash flood at all? The shoes were said to be to small for the person wearing them so if that person was the victim it is not likely the foot would be easy for the animal to get. A foot in a shoe can be the last part of the body to decompose. If he was wrapped in a moving blanket it is likely the murder would remove shoes ,as that would make them easier to conceal and a guy who is 6 foot something probably had pretty big shoes ,making the body harder to wrap in the blanket and even if they managed it ,it would have looked very much like a body in a blanket.

Not a theory just some thoughts.

ETA can you tell us what part of Oklahoma the car was last registered?

BBM

Soulmagnet, in the NaMus file, I read that it was "an anonymous male caller" who called about the remains.

The Levis are still available at Cabela's for about $48: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Levi...earch-All+Products&Ntt=Levi+Strauss+517+pants
Front and back view of present-day Levi 517s:

Lower at other stores ($40 and up). There are also "vintage" ones, though I'm not sure of the difference. I'll post again if I discover it.

ETA: Here are vintage Levi 517s (waist 32"-33") on Etsy "from the 1980s":

Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/226492636/vintage-levis-517-denim-pants-w32-1980s?ref=related-2

Here's one more photo comparing Etsy's vintage "1980s" Levi 517s (left) with the current-day ones from Cabela's (right):

The difference seems to be in the back pockets--the "V" is different (more shallow on the vintage ones). The pocket shape also seems to be a bit more rectilinear in the current day ones. (I prefer the vintage!) Can't quite tell from this, but the label is also probably different.

That makes me want to buy a pair of vintage Levi's.

I hate the stretchiness of jeans today. It's next to impossible to find 100% cotton jeans.

I'll bet the difference is the ones from the 80s were a much tighter fit than the ones today.

At least in these photos it would appear so!

So I am torn now between it being an owl or a hawk or a wild turkey. Look at these birds and maybe we can narrow it down maybe.

first is a hawk the last two are owls. Try to stay focused girls. LOL

I favor an owl, or a falcon - if you look at enough pics you can see the pale underside of the wings - and you can see positions in flight - I think the dark area on the t shirt (tail feathers) may have contained claws at one time - can't see them now - but the tail is too close to the wings for full flight - but it is a t shirt after all -

Well thank you for the nice example photos :):blushing: LOL

Now on to the birds.

From the pics shown here I would be inclined to think it is a bird or prey IE: Hawk or Falcon of some sort
Because the backgroud object is Orange like a sun that would lead me to consider the bird over the Owls.

If the Background Image had been White or possibly a pale yellow .....

The owl may be the stronger possibility. Perhaps a depiction with an owl from the opposite view? IE: Flying towards/Belly Forward angle would offer a better comparison?
That is the impression I am getting from the small example we have to work with.
