Surfing around for T shirt imagery that could be similar, I came across these links, which don't match, but a remarkable thing about the way the feathers are on the T shirt material found is that the feathers are stylized, so not like an Audubon type sketch, but a bird flying toward the viewer and coming in for a landing, as the wings are behind the tail feathers. The cotton of the T shirt looks heavier than just any T shirt, of better quality weave and heavier cotton to my eye. There is a white area, then a bigger orange area as background behind the falcon (I think?), could that be a stylized sun, possibly? Sorry if this is repeat, haven't had a chance to go through the thread yet, so first blush.

if you look down this page to "Sibley's Red Tailed Hawk T-shirt" that seems closer to the style

No telling. If he was missing 8 teeth and camping out with a paint-spattered blanket, it makes me lean toward 'local' as in maybe even living in state parks, possibly unemployed or between jobs.
The detective said they now believe "makeshift campsite" was an inaccurate description. They think the tarp was used to move the body.

Even if it was a homeless person living in the park, these parks attract people from all over the country and even the world. Heading out West to "find yourself" is a big deal for easterners. That's why I didn't limit my search to western states. My own child plans to "head out west" before the end of the year. He has a friend who moved there four years ago. She lived in her car for quite a while, and she comes from a wealthy family.

The missing teeth aren't necessarily due to lack of care. He could have lost the teeth during the killing. Someone else mentioned 8 teeth could be orthodontic work---4 wisdom and others removed to make room.

Any chance this is related to Basketball? We have Red Hawks, Erie Bay Hawks, Atlanta Hawks, and the River Hawks.

Yes, thanks--I just read that in catching up a bit on the thread. Sounds like they're considering the possibility he was stabbed elsewhere, then transported in that blanket that had a lot of white paint on it? (A blanket as opposed to a tarp?)

But then wouldn't the blanket have had at least a few traces of blood on it if he'd been stabbed to death?

Dumb question but did they ever post a pic of the dog and the collar? Thanks.

I haven't seen the collar, but there's a picture of the dog in one of the links in the thread. I tried to find it for you, but couldn't. I must be too sick with the flu to concentrate. It looked like a mid size husky shepherd mix to me.

I heard from someone at one of the vintage t-shirt companies. She's very excited to help us. Say she loves a mystery. Hopefully, she'll have some ideas about the origin of the t-shirt.

The t-shirt lady didn't recognize the design, but she's going to ask around her circle of people.

Is the picture of the man with the cigarette a possibility or has he been ruled out? (post #200)

We need to know the name to look at the list, but I don't know where Ibiz got the picture. Maybe he'll see your question. Or you can send him a PM if he doesn't come here often. That way he'll get a notification.

Ok, is that the actual hair? Because it's looking light brown to me. Also, I went back and looked at the reconstruction again.

And it appears to be redish/light brown kinda like my own. When I think of red hair I think of the reddish/orange color I see on some people sometimes like this:

So, there is red/orange hair, and reddish/light brown hair

Ibiz, who is the man with the cigarette?

I've noticed that the Detectives have been on this thread in the evenings and weekends - (I assume after work hours). I just wanted to thank them for the dedication, time and efforts they are putting in to help give this person his identity back.

Did we determine the mix-breed of the dog? Possibly Australian Shepherd/Chow mix??

Also regarding the t-shirt image ... could it be related to a certain Native American tribe? What does the Peregrine Falcon represent to them? or possibly sold at some of the Native American tourist sites in the area?

OT: Welcome Dylgem!
Glad you are here and you have some really good questions.

Someone upthread mentioned Falcons, Owls and Hawks also having these same type feather patterns. I think all of them are within the predatory/raptor type birds but we might also include those on your list of meaning or representation to tribes, etc.
