Authorities are seeking information from the public on the whereabouts of a Spring Creek man missing since last month.

William Francis McKnight, 30, was reported missing by his mother Sept. 14, according to a statement from the Elko County Sheriff’s office.

McKnight’s mother told officials he left his home in Spring Creek Aug. 31 with an unidentified female. He told his mother he would be home that night, and she has not heard from him since.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office attempted to contact McKnight with no success.

McKnight is described as a 30-year-old white male, stands at 5 feet 9 inches and weighs 165 pounds. He has blond hair and green/gray eyes and was last seen wearing jeans and a dark gray T-shirt.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of William McKnight is requested to contact Detective Billy Hood at 775-777-2523, Elko County Sheriff’s Office at 775-738-3421 or, Elko Central Dispatch at 775-777-7300.

Remains of missing man found near town

CONFIRMED: REMAINS IDENTIFIED
The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified human remains located this month near the Elko County 298 Shooting Range as those of William McKnight, who was reported missing by his family in September of 2017.

On May 5, several cowboys riding near the shooting range located a set of remains.

On Tuesday, the remains were confirmed to be those of McKnight. The sheriff’s office did not say whether foul play was suspected.
