The alarming truth about today’s terror threat: Former NYPD official says America is in greater danger than any time since 9/11

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/...source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=NYDailyNewsTw

Snip

We must identify these threats before they build more bombs or it will be too late.

This requires sophisticated criminal investigations by the FBI, as well as by state and local authorities — which quite frankly, outside of New York City, have happened very infrequently.

Most local police departments will say they lack resources to pursue such leads — but that is simply no longer an excuse. As was done in the NYPD, priorities must be set and assets re-deployed to meet the terrorist threat — and that means deploying experienced detectives capable of running investigations against potential terrorist cells.

Departments need informants, undercovers and wiretaps. That is what it is all about. It can be done and should be done now in most major cities within the United States.

Yes. He is pretty accurate.
its terrifying. Especially, living in NY. I always feel that if something HUGE were to happen (again), it will be here.

I hate to let them win, but I have had a bad feeling about Election Day this year. I will be working from home that day.

Ahmad Rahami may have followed bomb-making tips from Al Qaeda magazine, memo shows

Snip

The memo shows yet another instance of Rahami apparently taking tips from terrorists abroad. He praised Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and ISIS in a blood-soaked journal that was found after his arrest. The Guardian reported that, during a 2011 trip to Pakistan, he spent three weeks at a religious seminary tied to the Afghan Taliban.

"All of the bombs Rahami allegedly planted in New York City and New Jersey followed tips given in Al Qaeda’s Inspire magazine, according to a memo obtained by BuzzFeed News Sunday.

The Department of Homeland Security memo shows that the bombs Rahami allegedly left in four locations — two in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, and two in his home state of New Jersey — were all made differently from each other."

Like a sampler of bombs? Weird. I keep thinking it's a good thing he was bad at it or really unlucky.

So those early reports WERE CORRECT.
Yet, they were released? Something is very hinky.

The only thing I an think of is the reports were not correct! There IMO can , in light of sitution happening at the time, that they would release if this was true. I think it might be a internet BS that media ran with -- it sure would get views !

I think many of us know all of this. Nothing new. Nothing shocking.

I agree, however I think the worst thing is gonna be when they go for our power grid -- look how great we did with Katrina ---- please

and were ignoring it

Retracing a Suspect’s Journey: From a Bomb Site to a Quiet Doorway
By Rick Rojas, The New York Times

Sept 20 16

Had missed this, great step by step of the route he may have taken to Linden after ditching the backpack by the Pub. Very informative and useful to know.

Did anyone catch that Buzzfeed report with a graphic chart analysing his bombing tactics, can't seem to find it again.
