The service for the 7 children is today at 3PM and later tonight the children will be flown to Jerusalem. Thanks for the update, Blondie. Bless the mother Gayle and all family members.

I'm at a total loss of words as to what to say. Prayers to the father for strength he needs, to the mother when she is well enough to learn and the daughter.

I think I will light a candle tonight in honor of this family at sundown, as is the tradition.

i was not aware of that tradition, thank you..........i will too.........:candle:

I'm wondering what the husband and father will do. It would be a very hard decision to stay with his wife and daughter, or go to Israel for the burials and come right back.

What a huge turnout to support the family!

Neither had I any idea what people could or could not do and some of the restrictions regarding preparing food seem to border on hazardous. Normally, however, leaving something such as a crock-pot on low for several hours would not cause a fire, unless, of course there is a short in the appliance or electrical outlet. A hot plate, in my opinion, would be like leaving a stove burner on overnight.

My deepest sympathy for the family members who survived and the father who must be grief stricken to lose seven of his eight children.

My oven has a 12-hour automatic shutoff. If you go off and leave the oven on it will turn itself off after 12 hours. I'm one of those people that actually read owner manuals, and I read it in the owner's manual.

I also read in the manual that it has a "Sabbath override" feature. So that Jewish people can override the automatic shutoff and turn it on before sundown Friday and have it stay on until sundown Saturday.

The mother, Gayle, had plans to take the kids to NJ to visit her mother for the weekend, but changed her plans due to snow storm.

Losing one child is bad enough. Seven is beyond any comprehension. :( :crying:

I can't even fathom the pain the father is feeling. Thankfully he has his strong faith, and a large community to help them thru this. All those people coming out to say goodbye and to support the family is truly a beautiful thing.

The mother Gayle Sassoon, and their 14-year-old daughter remain in critical condition and are on respirators and do not know of the deaths of the other family members, according to the AP.

After she jumped, the mother reportedly screamed for help and pleaded for people to rescue her children. She is now reportedly in a hyperbaric chamber in a Bronx hospital.

I cannot imagine having the funerals and burials without the mother there.
That is just heartbreaking.

I can't imagine what he is going through, and what his wife and daughter will go through when they recover, and am praying they do recover. Should one or both not, then he will come back and have to do it all again. Bless this husband and father for the strength he needs.
