A Virginia woman has been arrested for the Hamptons hit-and-run crash that killed Sara Burack, a luxury real estate agent who starred on the popular Netflix show “Million Dollar Beach House.”

...

The arrest came more than a day after 40-year-old Burack was discovered lying unconscious on the side of Montauk Highway in Hamptons Bay around 2:45 a.m. Thursday. Police said she was found with severe injuries suggesting she’d been struck by a vehicle, including serious head trauma and several broken bones.

Paulette Corsair, a close friend of Burack for over a decade, spoke emotionally about the loss.

“This was an amazing person, loved by so many people,” Corsair said. “She was a genuine good person who did good and helped others.”

Corsair was at the hospital with Burack’s family and confirmed that Burack died from traumatic brain injuries sustained in the crash. It remains unclear where Burack was headed at the time of the accident.

Local resident Jeff Kirby is puzzled by why Burack was walking on Montauk Highway that late at night.

why was she walking along a highway at that time? maybe she was travelling with someone in a car, they had a disagreement and she go out to walk and that person then hit her (accidently or not) - maybe they were under the influence ... just speculating

I wonder if she was walking along the side of the road or if she was crossing the road. I looked at some google images of the area near the location where she was found, near the restaurant on that road, and it looks like a setting in town or at the edge of town. The highway runs through a lot of main streets in small towns in the Hamptons, it looks like.

I do wonder if the hit-and-run driver had been drinking.
Just a terrible situation all around.

I'm familiar with that section of the road. It's called a highway but at least in that stretch, the speed limit is 35 mph, it's either one or two lanes in each direction and there are stoplights. It has sidewalks and lots of shops/restaurants.

Please provide a link, thanks.
Okay

"Burack had left her real estate career about a year ago and had become a frequent visitor to the Southampton Library.

Neil Szczygil, who has seen Burack at the library, said, “I know she was kind of going through a hard time living out here, not really having a place to go, so she was at the library a lot.”

I was unable to find any news related to the hit and run at the link provided.

Same, so I searched just the quote and found a link that works:

I mentioned earlier that this stretch of road has sidewalks, but apparently SB was in the road, not the sidewalk, and was pulling a pink wheelie suitcase behind her. Obviously the driver should have stopped and called police at the time of the accident IMO.

Per the link:
"Luxury real estate agent Burack, known for her appearance on Netflix’s Million Dollar Beach House, was walking in the roadway on the right-hand lane of the Montauk Highway, with a pink wheelie suitcase, when she was struck by Kempton’s vehicle.

Conditions were foggy, and Kempton did not see the victim, her attorney said, believing instead that she had hit a traffic cone.

After leaving the scene, she arrived at a friend’s home and found the suitcase lodged underneath her vehicle."

I had seen this information in the New York Post early on and decided that until I see the same information in a reputable MSM that I don't take it seriously. That the driver thought she hit a traffic cone and later found a suitcase under her car when she got home seems unlikely to me. I guess you never know, but until I see this information reported in MSM then I don't give it any credibility. JMO.

'Kempton’s lawyer, William Keahon, told the court that alcohol is not considered a factor in the case, though she had spent time at a tavern before the incident on Thursday.'

I bet ...

Here is a picture of the area where the hit-and-run took place, the area of the road/highway through town near the restaurant mentioned as a landmark to the location.

If the hit-and-run driver thought she hit a cone, and then when she arrived at her friend's house she found a suitcase under her car, then why didn't she call the police to report what happened? She obviously didn't hit a cone.

Moo...if suitcase had blood on it, then I would be worried. But other than that I would just figure it was garbage suitcase, abandoned on road
