That seems most reasonable. By everything I read a lot of people dropped the ball the day he eloped and it would not surprise me that they routinely omit reporting bathroom accidents among other things.

I hope LE does a good followup investigation.

I hope this wasnt the case for him but one thing that comes to mind that I seem to remember from way back in Grade School and I hope school policies have changed, but I seem to recall that us young students were very intimidated to be excused to go the bathroom during class when we needed to. It seems I recall a lot of pressure NOT to raise your hand if you had to go and just "hold it" until the bell rang so you could go inbetween classes. I think some of this pressure may have been self induced because of embarrasment but I also seem to recall certain teachers telling students NO-NOT-NOW at times. This was a very very long time ago, so I hope things have changed in all schools so kids dont feel embarrased and can go whenver they need to.

:rose: RIP Avonte :rose:
I feel like whoever was Avonte's teacher should of been keeping on eye on him instead of focusing on the fight. That wasn't her job at the moment. As for locking the doors, they wouldn't do that for just a few people and there would of been people going in and out of the cafeteria, so that would be total inconvenience. Besides, it is probably a fire hazard. What is this story about him being chased by a dog? Do LE know the dog's owner? I can't stand when people act like their dog is harmless just due to not being a pit bull or something like that. My family has a dog that does not like kids and didn't like me until I was in my teens and we make sure that we keep him away from people. Avonte was afraid of dogs, so I don't know what he would of done to set off the dog, but my dog didn't like it when he could sense I was afraid around him as a child. Recently I was walking home from a nearby bus stop and had a dog run up and draw blood from literally biting my butt right in front of it's owners. I was so ticked. JMO

They haven't found the sweet child's lungs, so they will never be able to rule out drowning or homicide.

Avonte Oquendo’s mom wants the city to turn over the NYPD's files on how her son was able to walk out of school

Avonte's mom used the Freedom of Information Law to try to get internal reports. It's being said it will interfere with the investigation; as well as could also involve an “invasion of privacy” and “endanger the life or safety” of a person.

Meanwhile, Cyril Wecht, forensic specialist and former coroner of Alleghaney County, PA, believes that the medical examiner will never determine Avonte’s cause of death.

Wecht said Avonte’s rate of decomposition and the fact that among the body parts missing are the lungs, which is usually tested to see if he drowned.

“Even if they find the lungs, they won't be able to determine the cause of death with this degree of decomposition. And you need the lungs to determine if the person was alive (when he ended up in the water).

“They're never going to be able to rule out drowning,” he said. “They're also not going to be able to rule out homicide. What if someone threw him in the water?”

Proposed legislation from Sen. Charles Schumer aims to prevent tragedies such as the death of 14-year-old Avonte Oquendo.

Dubbed "Avonte's Law," the law, if passed, would give parents of children with autism the opportunity to take part in a voluntary tracking program that would immediately locate the child should they go missing.

The tracking devices would be placed on belts, shoelaces or wristwatches.

Schumer is asking the Department of Justice to fund the program, which would be run and monitored by local police departments.

I am so sad about Avonte. I actually have High-Functioning Autism, which is on the higer end of the Autism scale, but not quite Aspergers. I am developmentally delayed by just like several years and very much struggles with motor skills. My Autism affected me very little behavior and mental wise, but I had to take Special Education classes as a child and graduate late, despite being very self motivated to do well in school. During that time on occasion I would be working in the same classes as people lower than I on the Autism spectrum and bonded with them. There were some wanderers, but the teachers kept an eye on them during class. When I think about it, with lunch Avonte's teacher could of been trying to give him a little space to go off and do his own thing while still checking in on him occasionally, but was looking the wrong way at the wrong time. I also wonder how big the fight was and if maybe Avonte got scared off from it due to noise sensitivity or something. JMO

New footage that shows what happened before and after Avonte Oquendo ran out of his Queens, New York, school on Oct. 4 has been released.

In the video, an adult is shown walking down a hallway and out of a door. The door does not shut completely and is left open for a half hour, according to ABC 7 New York. Avonte then runs down the same hallway, at 12:03 p.m. and pauses when he gets to the door before running out. Later a school safety officer walks up the hallway and closes the door.

Saw this linked on the article you posted. I was curious about the puzzle piece Avonte was holding.

Avonte Oquendo Portrayed as Angel in Illustration Artwork by a New York graphic designer of the 14-year-old teen goes viral.
Many are still heartbroken over the death of Avonte Oquendo...
This includes New York-based artist Lavan Wright, who was moved by the story and used his talents to remember Avonte as an angel in one of his latest designs. "I didn’t know how to help, I’m an artist so when I feel things I act by illustrating it, by drawing it. I felt it would be a good way to remember him and put a lot of people at ease," Wright told Buzzfeed.

He shared the illustration on his Instagram page on Jan. 26 with the caption "#RIP young king." Avonte's older brother shared the piece on Tuesday via Twitter and thanked Wright.

In the artwork, Avonte holds a blue puzzle piece, a character that Wright designed for an autism walk earlier this year. "It’s a reminder that he was an autistic child that should have been protected," Wright also told Buzzfeed.

Avonte's brother - kingdetrick 2 weeks ago Rest in Peace little Brother. This World never deserved you. I will long for the day I can join you in paradise. Forever in our hearts, prayers, and mind. Love you. Thank you everyone for your love and support every step of the way. The tenacity the World, especially NYC, has shown in regards to finding Avonte and spreading awareness has been unmatched in comparison to any other Missing Child investigation. For that we are forever grateful to you. Cause of death is still pending investigation, however please allow my family and I space and time to mourn Avonte. Bombarding us with questions and theories do not help. Furthermore, the answers to those questions/theories will not bring him back. We appreciate you all. Thank you for the prayers. God bless, and may Avonte rest in peace.
