Don't we have a member here who did time in a federal prison? Anybody remember that?

Interesting. This former inmate says there's nothing to attach a sheet to. He also says the sheets are actually like paper and would tear if someone tried to use them for hanging

Could he have done it from the bed? No sir. There’s a steel frame, but you can’t move it. There’s no light fixture. There’s no bars.

They don’t give you enough in there that could successfully create an instrument of death. You want to write a letter, they give you rubber pens and maybe once a week a piece of paper.

This quote was interesting, too

If the guards see that the guy is breaking, they’re going to help you break.

I googled “ what does a bed look like in a jail”.

It looks like there would be lots of ways he could hang himself.

I recall on here that people scoffed at his past reported suicide attempt.

Outrageous statement bbm imo:

An attorney for Jeffrey Epstein says prosecutors and the press have “blood on their hands” in Epstein’s apparent suicide.

Marc Fernich said Saturday that reporters, plaintiffs’ lawyers and court officials “should be ashamed of their behavior” following Epstein’s indictment last month on conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.

He said in a statement that jailers at the Metropolitan Correctional Center failed to protect Epstein and to prevent the “calamity” of his death.

Fernich added that Epstein had “long since paid his debt to society” for his crimes. He said Epstein had the “misfortune to be a wealthy man in the #metoo era.”

Fernich said his statement comes as an “outraged citizen and defense lawyer,” not as a representative of Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein had ‘misfortune to be a wealthy man in the #MeToo era,’ attorney Marc Fernich says

“It is really incomprehensible how Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to be in a position where he could hang himself. High-profile defendant. Previous attempt at injuring himself. Dozens of victims seeking justice they now won’t get. The law enforcement community is steaming,” he wrote.

Former US Attorney Preet Bharara said he was “dumbfounded” by the news, but added that Epstein’s final moments were likely recorded by MCC security cameras.

“There should be — and almost certainly is — video of Epstein’s suicide at MCC. One hopes it is complete, conclusive, and secured,” he said, adding that the FBI and Inspector General will both investigate Epstein’s death.

RSBM

I'm predicting the video cameras malfunctioned.

As for jail cells, here's a diagram from recent news about Epstein showing how cells and furnishings are specially designed these days to prevent inmates using them to either commit suicide or injure other inmates or guards. There precautions are as much for the safety of visitors and guards as they are for inmates.

How could anybody be so ignorant to say such a foolish statement.

“If he killed himself someone had to have helped him,” said Lewis Kasman, a onetime close confidant of the Dapper Don who visited the godfather several times at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in 1992.

“There are cameras going 24/7 and they’re watching 24/7. Someone had to give [Epstein] the equipment to kill himself and he had to pay for it dearly,” said Kasman, who has kept abreast of conditions in the lockup.
...
Kasman said he heard US Attorney General William Barr personally made a hush-hush trip to the MCC two weeks ago, about the time Epstein was found in his cell with bruises around his neck.

“When does that happen?” he asked. “The attorney general never visits jails. Something’s not right there.”

Looks like a lot of ways. The shower. The concrete stool. The table

Queen Elizabeth II showed her support for Prince Andrew on Sunday morning as he faced increased scrutiny over his ties with late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Britain’s monarch smiled beside her 59-year-old son as they were driven to church in Scotland, with the prince grinning widely despite being newly accused of groping a woman’s breast at Epstein’s mansion.

That is really gross. I felt that the Queen had a lot of class. Hm.

Andrew should be spending his days out of sight, He certainly has enough royal places to be out of sight,

On the way to church. Ugh

Sorry you don't like it, but there was no crime committed. Roberts was 17 at the time, which is a legal age of consent where the act supposedly happened.

Btw, a pedophile is someone who is attracted to prepubescent children, so that is not what was going on.

Roberts was not brought half way across the world to have sex with anyone. She was part of Epstein's entourage and went where he went, which happened to be London in this instance. That is not trafficking.

17 is a still a minor in the States, so way its international human trafficking.

Epstein Was Left Alone and Not Closely Monitored Before Jail Suicide

Epstein Was Left Alone and Not Closely Monitored Before Jail Suicide

A person with knowledge of the investigation said that when the decision was made to remove Mr. Epstein from suicide watch, the jail informed the Justice Department that Mr. Epstein would have a cellmate and that a guard “would look into his cell” every 30 minutes.

But that was apparently not done, the person said.

Bureau of Prison officials said it is standard procedure for guards in special housing units to check on inmates every half-hour.

It remained unclear why that procedure was not followed in Mr. Epstein’s case. Like many federal prisons and detention centers, the jail has been short staffed for some time, union leaders have said.

JMO, if you're going to put people in prison, you'd better make sure you budget enough money for adequate staffing. I have a hunch, though, that this wasn't the real problem.

The jail had transferred Epstein’s inmate, officials told the Times.

After the disgraced multimillionaire and convicted child sex abuser’s first suicide attempt in late July, he was housed in a cell by himself, where he “lived like a pig in a sty," a source with knowledge of the situation told the Daily Beast.

The same source said that Epstein ate his meals off the floor at Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan and repeatedly asked for more toilet paper.

I think inferring anything from the supposed Barr/Epstein "connection" via the Dalton school would be a huge leap even if it were true, but according to the NYT, there is no known connection.
Bar announced his resignation in February 1974 and agreed to stay on until the end of that school year -- which would have been May/June 1974. Epstein was is in the yearbook for the following school year -- 1975. And again in 1976.

Jeffrey Epstein Taught at Dalton. His Behavior Was Noticed.

From the link (I added the bold, but I can't get the blue to go away):

"In February 1974, Mr. Barr had announced that he was resigning as headmaster, protesting the meddling by the board of trustees, but that he would stay on until the end of the school year. It is unclear whether Mr. Barr hired Mr. Epstein during that time."

I don’t necessarily think there’s a connection in regards to the current charges Epstein was facing. However, it sure does seem to be coming full circle. Looks as though the circle of people in high places and in power positions follows generations.
