NY - Captured, escaped convicted killers, David Sweat & Richard Matt, Dannemora #8

Earlier this month a prisoner (Patrick James Buswell) escaped from Stillwater Correctional Facility in Minnesota, he just walked right out of the prison in broad daylight! Mistakes happen everywhere. (http://www.fox21online.com/news/local-news/Stillwater-Prison-Escapee-Caught/33629988)

Also, I highly doubt that it's just "business as usual" at Clinton right now - if hoisting lunch were something abnormal, it wouldn't be happening at this time, not with the spotlight they're operating under. I think the simplest explanation is likely correct: it's difficult or cumbersome to get lunch from the tower, so they use a hoist system.

A prison allows workers to leave their post and take lunch breaks. It is a serious security breach for anything to be hoisted from outside a maximum security prison.

No tomatos but I'm wondering if Sweat really just wanted to get out of the country with zero intention of hurting anyone? Maybe just try to get through the border and that's why he didn't take the gun? I read that he told the officer that caught him he just didn't want to go back to prison. I'm not saying he was a swell guy I'd like to be friends with but 33 days out there it seems like they sure could have hurt someone and they didn't.

Matt on the other hand it seems got sloppy drunk and sounds like he just started shooting out of frustration and prob hit that camper by accident.

I don't know just talking out loud (or typing).

That may have been Sweat's intent but what he has managed to accomplish for himself is not only to be back in prison but he will probably be on at least 23/7 lockdown.

Sooo many heads yet to roll. Now CNN reporting FBI investigating a heroin ring. Still waters ran deep. Until now!

Bet Sweat is a fountain of intel on the inter workings of Clinton and he's spilling that too.

Clearly a bonehead move to break out of prison and his intentions mean nothing really. I was just adding to the speculation as to why he didn't take the gun or hurt anyone. Def not defending this guy although I do think he had a bad start to life as a kid but so do other folks and they manage to make decent human beings.

I agree. He likely has his chest puffed out telling all. If it doesn't hurt to do so LOL He will milk his claim to fame in his own mind. He likely knows he is not going back to Clinton and will be in some type of isolation. Nothing to lose here. Wants his 15 minutes. Not much else left of his life. Now.

Tillie brought it in. Tillie asked Palmer NOT to put that beef through the scanner. So, Palmer says he then said, 'Anything wrong with this meat, Til'?' (HELLO - it was shaped like a hacksaw, wrapped in duct tape, frozen solid.... ANYTHING WRONG????????????????) and Tillie giggled a feminine giggle, tickled Palmer and said, "P. (I like to think that Tillie Called Palmer "P" :-) -- Just go eat your donut.

Do we know if Tillie wore spike high heels to work? Nylons? Short dresses? Seductive perfume?

I want to know how much the ground beef weighed. :D

Tom Fuentes on CNN right now. Really like that man, a voice of reason. Stated with all that went on I'm surprised people were not trying to break in that Prison

That prison is minimum security. A bit of difference from maximum security.

My point was not that the escapes were similar - it was that using this event to boast that "my state is so much better than your state" is in poor taste. Bad things happen in every state, so do beautiful things, we are all human.

CNN:

- rampant use of heroin inside CCF

- FBI investigation into poss employee involvement

JMO and some speculation.

Well well

This better explains why security was so lax. Because if the heroin use and supplies were as large as this is making it sound then it means someone on the prison staff was most likely involved in smuggling or allowing drugs to get into that prison.

And if they were doing that then it means they were already ignoring or sidetracking some protocols so that the drug supply could get into the prison.

And it also means that other staff may have known about it and ignored it if the staff member was over them in senority.

And as far as the escape. So what this means is if there were any signs or hints of Sweat or Matt up to something then it would have been mistakingly thought it was related to the drugs and it would not have raised flags like it should have.

Example
A Guard sees Sweat acting funny one day

The guard thinks to himself "Oh hes probably getting his cut of the new drug shipment that just arrived. No big deal"

It will be interesting to find out how many staff (if any) are involved in the heroin ring.

Exactly. Why did these two even try to run away? Sounds like they spend their days painting and making hamburgers.

Something that may or may not be relevant to the story: heroin withdrawal makes people have extremely bad diarrhea - something Matt may have been suffering from. (I don't remember the details of exactly how he pooped himself, and I'm not too inclined to search for them, lol!)

Good thought, Hatfield. Everyone knows the corruption is rampant, so whatever sort of corruption it is, no one rats anyone else out....because they all profit from Corruption. Lovely. Nice community spirit. And anyone not involved is too afraid for their job to say anything. JMO

Good point. I don't think details have been released only that they suspected he ate/drank something bad because of found soiled underwear.

I don't think that they were "users" of H but they may have profited somehow in trafficking. If they had money though, I would think that they would have had more options after their escape. JMO

I've seen this quite often in my city and never gave it another thought. However, now that that I am thinking about it, it does look like a good way to smuggle in dope or other contraband. I'm sure that'll all be stopped now.

I keep thinking how all the other prisoners and even the staff got everything ruined for them by just a few. And from the prisoners point of view they are probably blaming Tilly more than anything.

Imagine how the prisoners and staff got madder and madder at Tilly as the news kept coming out.

At first they thought
-Oh Tilly look what you did now. Poor Matt and Sweat with no ride now

Then as the news kept getting worse and worse about lax security it became more like

-Tilly WTH did you do to us. We got all this bad press now

Then as it gets to everything coming out

-You ruined everything Tilly.
Now we cant have our Honor Block.
We cant have our drug supply.
We cant have hamburger dishes in our cells anymore
We cant run electricity to our cells anymore
We cant paint and draw artwork and make money on the side to supply our canteen accounts

And the list goes on.

Yeah, they are pizzed off at Tilly and of course Matt and Sweat for ruining everything for them. They had it made there for X number of years.
