@nalinashapiro4: I just spoke with Richard Matt's son Nick Harris. He says he will claim his father's body. He says his father's death was wrongful.]

I feel for his son in the worst way. I don't think the death was wrongful but if he was my father I would probably feel like losing him was not justified. What a burden to have as a child, adult or otherwise.

it's not like they were close - the son said he only "vaguely" knew his father and has never had a relationship with him

he sure looks like him though

Fox News Video: Sweat told investigators that he found a sledge hammer and used it to break though the brick wall for their escape. ...

LOL - Convicted police-officer-murderer, supposedly imprisoned for life in the 'roughest prison in the state of NY' just stumbles across a SLEDGE HAMMER? And to top it off, no guard hears him slamming away to create holes big enough for the 5'10" muscle men to slide on through??? Oh, yeah, and no guard ever notices the gaping holes in each convict's prison cell? I s'pose the warden was too busy with his King of Winter Fest assignment, you know, dressing up in his 'king outfit', looking in the mirror to be sure his crown looked good on his head, stuff like that....:happydance:

An idea sprung to my head while reading your post. Remember the old "I Love Lucy" episode where the gang gets arrested for speeding in Bent Fork, TN and Cousin Ernie Ford tries to help them get out of jail by leading a rousing chorus of "Old McDonald Had a Farm" while Ricky sawed away at the bars? Maybe the other inmates decided to have a mass singalong which was loud enough to disguise the sound of a sledge hammer and other tools while Matt and Sweat carved, sliced and did other things to execute their escape route.

THX SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!! LOL TOO TOO FUNNY !!!!!!!! BRILLIANT !!! Here's the episode - go to about '11 mins.' for the Old MacDonald scene - it looks like Lucy is behind bars, and Ethel and Fred are also using their emery boards to try to saw through the bars: http://www.shush.se/index.php?id=114&show=ilovelucy:happydance::jail:

They had Metallica night either weekly or monthly actually.

Apologies if already posted (still catching up, but just saw this article
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...says-captured-Shawshank-escapee-hospital.html

Sweat said he (and Matt) had a couple close calls when on the run -- one time they were in a hunting stand and could hear LE, another time, Sweat was up in a tree and police went right by (remember how we were kinda joking about that???)

They were smoking marijuana and drinking in the cabins where they stayed, but Matt too much? Also, Matt leaving a lot of evidence behind -- candy wrappers, etc. Sweat apparently better at not leaving a trail.

They did a practice run, the night before the escape, where they poked their heads out of the manhole.

Sweat has been upgraded to fair condition.

Great. I am biting my tongue

I saw this coming last night when I heard Sweat's mom blaming that woman and that man for giving them the tools to break out.

“He said he made it up to the roof of the prison and got shot in the shoulder,” he said. “He pulled down his shirt and showed us the bullet wound. This guy has bullet holes on his body.
He’s been shot like nine times. It’s like they can’t kill him.”

If I had read that as an officer I'd be awfully nervous about one bullet being enough. :twocents:
I really hope this isn't going to lead to a wrongful death lawsuit...

BBM - I think this is exactly where this is going. An attorney has gotten to both of these families, imo.

Link to video on Sweat's muddah, please ---really need to see and hear this with my own eyes and ears.... WOW !!!

Then maybe the son would like to help pay back the $1,000,000 spent each day to find his dad.

David Sweat Claims He Was Almost Caught Twice During 3-Week Manhunt

In the first close-call, Sweat told investigators both he and Matt were hiding near a cabin when three people came to check on it, Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie told ABC News today.

<snip>

The second instance happened within the past week, after Sweat and Matt separated, Sweat allegedly told investigators.

Sweat claimed he was hiding in a hunting tree stand when an officer walked past him, Wylie said.

This I do believe. When walking in the woods it is really amazing how most all humans including myself never look up. I have noticed that when hunting. I have to force myself to look up and really think about it.

The only time humans will notice things up in the trees is from a long distance because they are really looking straight out but can see towards top of trees out in distance.

WOW. I dont think I could have gone back to the prison if I was that close. I would have been tempted to just try for it right there.

This is amazing.

The best part of that article imo is the comment, why haven't they found him yet, he is like 7 feet tall! (69") :floorlaugh:

I do foresee there being a big settlement coming for Matt's family. Even though he brought all of this on himself, they will claim the prison and state of NY dropped the ball on their end. It's really crazy when you think about it. Can't you see the new prisoner disclaimer>>>"Should you elect to escape the prison will not be responsible for what harms you" "Should you elect to con the guards, CO's and/or employees the prison is not responsible for what happens to you", "Should you escape, you are on your own and you could be shot and lose your life"....

I think she changes her mind quite often. I am sure I either read an article where she said she never wanted to see her son again when the manhunt was still going on. It was at the very end of the article. Moo

I think I remember that too, that was when she was reflecting on all the pain he had caused her. I don't doubt he has caused a lot of pain, time for him to be held responsible for it and not have it rationalized.

thanks! I actually deleted my original post because I began to think I imagined it. Lol. I am looking for that article.
