NY - Christopher Porco - Another Menandez situation? - sentenced

  • #421
I should mention that from the list of evidence not allowed in; the 6 hour police interrogation was filled with lies from Porco. That was the one that would have sunk Porco if allowed in. 1 example of the many lies from Porco, was that he told the police that he never left the campus after 10:30 p.m. on the night if the murder. His story to the police was he went to sleep at 10:30 and got up at 8:00 or so. Kindlon knew the police interrogation was thrown out, so when the video was shown of Porco leaving campus; Kindlon tlied for Porco and told the jury that he left the campus at 10:30 p.m. to go to a Wendy's. He also lied to the jury that the jeep was on video footage at 8:30 a.m. arriving back to the campus because he went to a Dunkin Donuts. By the way; in case anyone's wondering; during the 4 hour closing arguements from McDermott and Skanks yesterday; Porco didn't show any emotion; not a trace. Hopefully he's found guilty, but if we get a hung jury and a new trial; a different judge might allow a lot more in. The jury has the case now and the plan is they'll stay till 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. tonight if they have to. The charges are murder and attempted murder; both carry a 25 year to life sentence. If no decision is made; they'll most likely have a 3 day weekend and meet again Monday. I'm hoping most are leaning towards guilty and the Lt. Col from West Point takes charge and sways the rest

The judge made 1 final decision this morning and it was an important one. He told the jury that it was up to the jury to make up their own minds as to whether the head had relevance or not. The judge could have given the jury a specific yes or no instruction related to the head nod--yes the head nod was done with Joan's full knowledge of what she was asked; or no that Joan's nod should be ignored. The judge told the jury that it's their decsion and not his. Then he set them off to decide the case

I think that the prosecution proved their case.
Chris is guilty. Hopefully the jury will agree.

According to WNYT Blog there are unconfrmed reports that the jury has reached a verdict. Also, my girlfriend just heard it on the radio!!!

It has been confirmed. "Decision to be announced soon!"!

The jury just passed a note to the judge about 5 minutes ago(4:50); Kindlon and Shanks just entered the court room looking nervous. Rumor here is its a verdict...Kindlon said he "doesn't know"

Porco is going to Orange County Jail with no bail. Thank God! Sentencing Oct 25th!

YES!! I told ya he had no chance of getting off--just seeing his mother's hideous face probably helped the jurors decision somewhat---justice has indeed been served!--no OJ result here--murders were poorly planned--neighbor seeing his car, alarm off,dog in the basement---hope he rots in his claustrophobic prison cell the rest of his miserable life

:woohoo: to Lady Justice! Several trials going on right now and the jury is still out in the Cameron Brown trial so this is just a wonderful start!

I'm very relieved that he was convicted, but truelly feel for Joan Porco.Wonder if she will ever give up believing he is innocent and spend all her money on appeals? I hope she can find some peace. I'm sure like any parent ,she is wondering what she could have done differently, and somehow blaming herself. As a parent myself,I know thats what I would be doing.,but there are just times that things go wrong beyond our control.Something is not wired right in Chris Porco.

What were the exact charges?? Two counts of first degree murder??

Also, how long did the jury deliberate?? It seems like closing arguments just happened...

When will he be sentenced??

The kid was as guilty as sin. Glad that the jury saw it, too. :)

Right on! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/justbetweenus/f1gt9k.gif

nanandjim he was charged with 2nd degree murder for his dad, and attempted 2nd degree murder for his mother. The jury deliberated approx. 6 hours. I hope this helps.

Thank you. It does help although I believe that the crimes were premeditated and deserved a first degree charge. I hope that he gets the maximum sentence to run consecutively not concurrently. Wow. Only six hours! That's amazing!!

I believe it was premeditated also. I'm not sure why they didn't go for 1st degree, maybe they thought they would have a harder time getting a conviction?
