A google search of the passenger and his place of residence provides some interesting food for thought.
Yes. It does.
Is there any way to find out if LE searched AT's vehicle? Or did LE just take AT & JA's word for it, regarding their interaction with Colin that night?
When the newspaper editor drove by, was Colin flailing his arms frantically just for a ride, or was he trying to physically escape someone? If he was trying to escape someone, let's just say (hypothetically, of course) that he was trying to escape 2 people in a car....then Colin would run to the road, flailing his arms, then editor passes Colin, and continues on...at which point 2 people in a car would have an opportunity to grab or attack Colin and get him in their car and finish what they started.
For some reason, my mind keeps wanting to go in that direction, that it was some scenario like that.
Just my opinion, of course.

I also came across this quote from this news article on 3/14/12 which may shed light on Colin's last cell phone use and makes me wonder how much alcohol he may have had if he was so disoriented:
"They're planning to look today in a few other areas in Tupper Lake, like around Raquette Pond where one can see the area where he lived across the lake. They're also planning to look on Old Wawbeek Road near Sunmount. "While that seems like it's some distance from where the subject was seen and his personal effects were found, in his conversations with people who live near there he mentioned being on their road," VanLaer said. "We don't believe that to be correct - we believe he was confused with who he was speaking to - but we are doing roadside searching of that road as well."
Just interesting. Hopefully (and it seems logical) every single phone call/text made to Colin's cell phone that evening was checked out and those people can account for their actions that night. Sadly, a group of teenagers possibly all drinking does not lead to clear-thinking and mature actions.
Does anyone know who Colin was speaking with on the phone? I can't read the full article. Thanks travelbug/SunsetGirl. I swear I remember reading about a specific time/time-frame for the communication. Perhaps I'm wrong???

That info has not been released to the public. This was the ONLY reference I've ever seen to the actual 'content' of one of his phone calls after leaving the party (if he even made more than 1 call) ... I do not remember a specific time mentioned for this particular call. Just that his last cell phone use was at 1:30am. I'll do more digging to see if I find anything else re: his last phone call.
He was last heard from at 1:30 a.m., based on phone records, the DEC spokesman wrote.
They said Mr. Gillis was last seen on Route 3 near the county line between Franklin and St. Lawrence Counties about 1:45a.m. Sunday.
One of the first parties to go out Monday apparently found a piece of Colins personal effects on the edge of the south side of the road, west of the intersection of Route 3 and Setting Pole Dam Road, where their search began.
Does anyone have any idea what was in the backpack? Did he intend to return to his parents house that night?
He was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.
Nathan Toohey was charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and passing in a no-passing zone, a violation. *Mason's brother Austin, 19, and their father Paul, 47, and who were occupants of the car, were both charged with disorderly conduct.
This adds an interesting dynamic to AT and how he would have handled a situation out in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night with someone he may or may not have been with at a party where there was a big fight. Hmmmm.Wow. So, this just happened 3 days ago to AT's brother, NT.

Oh, and then there's this that happened in September 2013, both AT and NT and others arrested.

note...* I think where it says Mason is supposed to be Nathan. Oh, and they spelled AT's name wrong.
Seems a history of violence with the T family.
