NYPD detectives believe a 20-year-old woman from Colorado jumped from the roof of a Midtown hotel, based on witness statements.

However, there are no direct witnesses, so they continue to look for surveillance video and more evidence.

She had traveled to New York City with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Tyler Griffin of Littleton, Colorado, and their 8-month-old daughter.

The baby was in the room when the couple got into a violent, all out brawl on Tuesday around 10:27 p.m. at the Oyo Hotel on 47th Street, according to police.

Griffin allegedly hit the woman multiple times during the domestic dispute that trashed their hotel room.

The fight continued into the hallway, and another woman tried to intervene.

"He like jumps up and runs after me. I run back into our room, and he tries to put his hand in the door and my husband 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 the door on his hand," said the woman, who did not wish to be identified.

Witnesses said that the woman who was attacked ran up to the roof. Shortly thereafter, cops got the call about the roof jump. Her body was later discovered on second-floor scaffolding.

Police encountered 24-year-old Tyler Griffin in the lobby. Officers had to shock him with a stun gun multiple times as they took him into custody, then transported him to Bellevue Hospital in what they described to be an emotionally disturbed state.

until they say he was not on the roof as well, im gonna go w pushed.
*Ditto! For sure.

The police at the scene of a jumper down at the OYO Hotel in Times Square, at 157 West 47 Street.
The 20-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was allegedly punched “repeatedly,” by her boyfriend, Tyler Griffen, 24, leaving her bruised up, police said.

The brawl spilled out into the hallway, where Griffen allegedly yanked the baby’s arm “in a forceful manner,” causing the infant to tumble down the stairs to the ninth floor, cops and sources said.

Don’t hurt the baby!” a woman yelled, according to the sources.

Ugh! - "Police said, at one point, he tossed their child, who was caught by somebody in the hotel at the bottom of a staircase. The child was unharmed"

I firmly believe there should be some form of prerequisite test or evaluation before you can have children…. That poor baby. Thankfully they are young enough they won’t remember.

Infant trauma is real though (separation trauma). Poor wee baby. Memory loops are already being set up in a newborn's brain, specific memories may not appear, but there definitely can be neurological traces of early trauma.

It's called anaclitic depression in infants and is still a rather robust area of research.

IMO.

The language in the reports is confusing - they got into a violent brawl but he was the one hitting her? Sure sounds like domestic abuse to me. Jmo. I wonder what they were doing in NYC?
I was confused too, but interestingly, "brawl" mainly means 'noisy' and doesn't necessarily refer to physical actions on both sides. So him hitting her and her screaming would be a brawl, especially in a public place.

A clamorous or tumultuous quarrel in a public place, to the disturbance of the public peace.

...I learned something new today. Thanks websleuths! :)
