Weeks before Corinna Slusser vanished, her family got a chilling piece of mail that left no doubt she was in deep trouble.
A copy of an order of protection that 19-year-old Slusser sought in Manhattan against a friend who became her pimp was mailed to her mothers Pennsylvania home, horrified friends and family members said Wednesday.
This letter of protection was granted against somebody she was living with. It went to her moms house, said one relative, who asked not to be named. We didnt know what to think.
The letter directed the man to stay away from Slusser after he was arrested for beating and choking her at a hotel in Harlems Sugar Hill neighborhood on Aug. 25, police said.
A month later, Slusser was simply gone.

That NY Daily News article says she met the pimp at a hospital while recovery from a suicide attempt. Why in the world was a vulnerable teenage girl allowed to interact with an older man who I am sure being a pimp means he has a criminal history? I hope she can be found and returned home.
But cops suspect Corinna Slusser is still alive, offering her family the first bit of good news since the 19-year-old was last spotted at a Queens hotel on Sept. 20.Missing teen sex trafficking victim has likely been passed around between pimps and sent out of New York

Slusser was last seen leaving the Haven Motel in Queens on Sept. 20. About a week before that, her family reported her missing when she didn't attend her grandfather's funeral in Florida.
The teen, who was an avid social media user, shared a photo on Instagram Sept. 10, that tagged her location as the Bronx. She turned 19 in October but didn't contact any of her family or friends, leaving them to believe she's being held against her will.
Police now say they're treating Slusser's disappearance as a possible sex trafficking case. Members of the New York Police Department's Vice Human Trafficking Team believe she's been handed off to several pimps because her name has come up in several vice investigations over the last few weeks.
I am confused. Did she meet this guy IN the hospital? Or did she meet him on social media or something while she was recovering? If they physically met while she was in the hospital, wtf was a pimp doing around an at risk teenager? Or an at risk human being for that matter.
I think hospitals can be pretty relaxed about letting patients interact with others, even while in care, (sometimes), and please know........ A Pimp will often look like an upstanding, clean cut member of society. So it's hard to know one when you see one. They also often play the role of the endearing, loving boyfriend. I'm praying and staying hopeful for Corinna.
I guess I assumed for some reason he wasn't a patient. I also assumed she was in a mental health facility instead of a regular hospital, and didn't expect for a known pimp to be a patient at a mental health facility. A lot of assumptions on my part. Sorry about that.
Or the pimp very well could have been visiting another patient, and not a patient himself. As someone who has been hospitalized at mental health facilities multiple times for depression and PTSD, my experience has been that patient visits most often take place during visiting hours with multiple patients and family and friends present in one area, such as the dining room or the lounge.
In a way, it can be a prime opportunity for someone like him to lure potential “employees,” as many of the patients are at their most vulnerable.
