Just a guess, but I'm wondering if some of the drug itself was available at the scene for testing and didn't require autopsy testing.

eta: for clarity, this refers to another case on LI, not Martha.
The 2021 NoFo/Shelter Island case had a number of scenes, so it sounds likely that one/some of them had evidence available.

In Martha's case, the scene was obviously a toss away from water. Just wondering about that now. imo

In the real world her little businesses weren't even a glitch on the fashion radar screen.

If this 60 yr old guy is wealthy then that could explain why she was out on a "business" meeting (according to her bf) at midnight.

imo
He may have been an investor in her business, which makes it a 'business meeting' ----even though it's a naked midnight business meeting.

Sources say 33-year-old Martha headed to the ritzy Montauk Yacht Club on the evening of August 4 to speak with insurance mogul Christopher Durnan, 60.

Durnan - a guitar-playing widower linked to several boats named after Grateful Dead songs - is believed to have invested more than $200,000 in the Irish beauty's bikini boutique.

But she was declared dead at the scene on August 5 with sources now telling the Daily Mail that Martha likely succumbed to a suspected drug overdose - of cocaine or other narcotics.

Photographs taken the next morning revealed a dusting of mysterious white powder across a seat on the 50ft cabin-cruiser, which has the Grateful Dead's 'Steal Your Face' emblem - a lightning bolt inside a skull - on its stern.

'The death of Manhattan swimwear designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra at the upscale Montauk Yacht Club is being eyed as a possible accidental overdose, sources said Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Irish beauty was found unconscious at the ritzy club on Aug. 5 aboard a boat named “Ripple” – one of at least two Grateful Dead-themed crafts owned by insurance mogul Christopher Durnan, sources tell The Post.

An autopsy is pending to determine Nolan-O’Slatarra’s official cause of death – although sources said it was a suspected drug overdose''.

I know we all probably assumed this was the most likely drug when they said likely drug overdose, but it sounds like the OD might have been cocaine. I’m trying to paste the article, but it’s not working with our forum’s coding. Author is Christopher Koulouris in case I can’t find a way to paste this properly.

Also, going to state nothing but facts with this one. It appears the crime scene has sailed away...

Above article is International Business Times, Singapore. The article seems pretty factual and informative, so we are allowing it in this particular discussion.

Note: this publication uses O'Slatarra as Martha's last name, though she went by the last name Nolan.

Centeno said that contrary to a published report, neither he nor anyone at his New York-based firm took any actions in the court as a financial settlement step following her death. He said, “That is categorically false. To correct the record, the only action that my firm took after submitting the final divorce papers was to promptly notify the court of Miss O’Slatarra’s passing so that no judgment of divorce would be issued. I took no other legal action regarding her death. That is pretty straightforward. It’s what an attorney is obligated to do, if they learn of one of the parties’ deaths. You have to let the court know, ‘Hey, one of them died. Don’t go ahead and sign the divorce [papers]’ because that could create a real mess.”...

O’Slatarra’s boyfriend, who was reportedly Nicholas DiRubio, was reportedly out-of-town, when she was in Montauk. Reached by WWD Tuesday, DiRubio said, “No comment. Please lose my number” and hung up the phone.

The source, Women's Wear Daily/WWD, is a long-standing and respected trade publication in the fashion industy.

''Local sources said a crew arrived at dawn last Friday to sail the yacht away.

Another boat believed to be owned by Durnan — a five-engine powerboat called Hell In a Bucket, also referencing the Grateful Dead — reportedly left the club the previous night, the source added.

The father of two is believed to divide his time between a five-bedroom, $6 million mansion in Long Beach, New York, and an equally luxurious home in Lantana, near Palm Beach, Florida.''

He has a house in Montauk, too.

Greater Long Island has learned that he purchased a home at 112 Soundview Avenue in Montauk in October 2020 for $2.2 million.

The family of Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra wants to know who crossed paths with the chic designer the night she was found dead on a boat in Montauk as police continue their “deep dive” investigation into the tragic case, according to their lawyer.

Attorney Arthur Aidala pushed back against speculation that Nolan-O’Slatarra, 33, died of an overdose and told The Post Wednesday that the Irish-born beauty’s family “did not know her to be someone who used drugs.”...

Aidala told The Post the family “absolutely” fears that their beloved daughter could have been unknowingly slipped drugs that resulted in her death.
