"At the arraignment, which did not begin until 11:20 p.m., Justice Paul M. Lamson granted the two Miller girls and their mother an order of protection from the two suspects, and also an order for Ms. Vaisey from Mr. Howells. The judge told Mr. Howells that he should seek a private attorney, as his salary for his job at the Wound Healing Center of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center would make him ineligible for a public defender. Ms. Vaisey works at the Bows and Bandanas Pet Salon and Resort, Potsdam.
During the arraignment, it was stated that Mr. Howells has three children, but does not have custody of them.
Brad Riendeau, attorney for Ms. Vaisey, said his client also was a victim of Mr. Howells. Im pointing the finger at him on her behalf, he said after the arraignment."
