yep....good police work....forensic evidence, & the witnesses picked the guy out of a line up....they had palm & finger prints......

saying they don't know why he had women's clothing in the bag....

  • #162
don't know why he had clothing etc. in the bag. had intended to rob Shindach and not hurt Faughey.

  • #163
he did not have an appt....

  • #164
he made some statements that Dr Shinbach had him institutionalized in 1991....
he was going to leave the country w/his mother....

he requested an atty, so the questioning stopped

  • #165
charges are being processed now with the DA, for murder....

his mother is alive, in a nursing home...

  • #166
Dr Shinbach had treated him in 1991. Suspect stated had intended to rob Shindach and leave the country with his mother. (Well that explains the items in the suitcase!).

definately an insanity defense...

Keep us posted. I'm not finding a live link.
Basically, they say that the guy confessed. He was there to rob Shinbach. It sounds like Shinbach had treated him in the past and even had him committed to a mental institution.

This guy had been arrested a few weeks prior to the murder. So, they had his fingerprints from that arrest. They matched his fingerprints with prints found in Faughey's office.

The sad thing is that Faughey probably would not have been murdered if Shinbach had not had a patient seeing him at the same time that this guy had planned to rob him.

Ya, but it doesn't explain the knifes and axe...
So this is the right guy?

yes, it's the right guy......he's insane, imo

no telling what he was thinking, taking the bags with him there to the office bldg.....maybe in his sick mind, he was going there to kill, then head to the nursing home to pick up his mama & leave the country.....i guess he snapped, so to speak, talking with Faughey maybe....his plan didn't go as expected, therefore he just left the bags behind as he left.....

i don't think he went there to simply rob Shinbach.....he had a plan to kill, imo....it just got messed up somehow

I am confused with the reports; was he a patient of both Shinbach and Faughey at different times? The amount of violence was directed more so at Faughey than Shinbach. This could be attributed to the killer's feelings of his mother. Maybe he harbored resentment about having to care for his mother for the years he did, i think it may be the case. The killer's stated intentions to rob Shinbach should be taken with a grain of salt. The man is crazy, with the suitcase and it's contents, it is obvious he had more on his mind than a robbery & leaving the country.

Maybe, the guy is a bonafide nutcase. His suitcase was filled with women's clothing and adult diapers. Maybe, those were his mother's. Maybe, he didn't want her in the nursing home and thought that, if he could get some money, they could run away together.

Who knows? Fox said that he was in Faughey's office for 19 minutes before the attack began. Perhaps, she was trying to tell him that his plan was unrealistic and that it wouldn't work. Maybe, he planned on killing anyone who got in his way. Who knows? He could have planned to rob Shinbach and go to the nursing home to get his mother. Maybe, the knives were for anyone at the nursing home who tried to stop him.

The presser stated he was a patient of Shindachs in 1991. There is nothing sinister really about the contents of the suitcase when you consider he was going to leave the country with his mother.

ETA: to add that the other bag, carryon or whatever, does indicate a bit more than robbery was planned.

Aha! I knew the suitcase had to do with his mother. I'm glad she's safe and alive.

As for Tarloff's alleged robbery motive and his desire to flee the country with his mother, investigators suspect that's why he had a suitcase filled with women's clothing and adult diapers, police officials say. Crime scene detectives matched his right palm prints to those found on the diaper packages, officials say.

Thank God they found him. Now he'll probably spend the rest of his life at Kirby away from the public.

i am wondering if the critically ill patient with the pre-arranged visitation was his mother and he tried to do something like strangle her.

You were correct about who he was visiting. From the below link:
http://www.nypost.com/seven/0216200...e_question_new_suspect_in_shrink_sl_97930.htm

Tarloff was again arrested for assault two weeks ago after a bloody scuffle with a security guard at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway.
Tarloff became belligerent while trying to visit his sick mother and was told by hospital staff that he was not allowed inside.
He had been banned from the hospital after becoming extremely disruptive during previous visits, a hospital employee said, in which he yelled, swore and approched nurses in a threatening manner. Tarloff also became physical with his 73-year-old mother, "in violation of prearranged visitation conditions," according to the criminal complaint

having lived with his mother and she going into the nursing home a few years ago would be consistent with why he has that praticular brand of adult diapers.

Wow, what great thinking, izzyB. WSer of the day goes to you!

Was anything new learned from the PC? I'm confused as to why he killed Faughey if he was a patient of the other doctor. Unless he was going to kill both anyway.
