I haven't been following the Woodstock 50 story much, so thanks for this. I do hope they can pull it off, and get themselves better organized. I suppose I'm a little surprised that Michael Lang, after all these years and experience, is having some troubles. We lived in Saugerties when the Woodstock '94 event happened, and there were some glitches with that, too, but it was still a pretty neat thing :)

It isn't happening.

Woodstock 50, a wide-ranging festival that many hoped would bring the spirit of 1969 to a new generation this August, has been canceled. Tim O'Hearn, the administrator for Schuyler County, N.Y., where the event was to take place, confirmed the cancellation to NPR; he said he had been contacted by Dentsu Aegis Network, which had been bankrolling the planned festival.

I could not attend Woodstock 25 but I was definitely ready for Woodstock 50. I am so sad it was cancelled. Thank you for creating the thread Richard.

Lang doesn't sound quite ready to completely throw in the towel, though it sure doesn't look good.

Not sure about that sponsor, Dentsu Aegis Network. Global marketing and public relations. Subsidiary of a Japanese PR firm. Lang should go solicit some new sponsors with more stability and better track record. Look at businesses whose markets are in the US., but don't allow them to plaster their logos everywhere, like a sports event.

According to the one article listed above, he did approach a couple of well-known biggies that declined to invest :(

I was also planning on attending with my 20-something daughter.

The lineup was amazing. Sorry they couldn't get it together.
