BBC criticised for giving Ian Maxwell airtime to defend sister Ghislaine
The BBC has faced further complaints over its coverage of GM’s conviction for recruiting and grooming teenage girls after interviewing her brother, Ian Maxwell on Radio4’ flagship news programme. He made the case for her innocence, casting doubt on the testimony from victims. He said while the trial had heard “heart-rending testimonies”, his view was “that Ghislaine had nothing to do with it”. Who cares what his view is. The jury found her guilty on 5 of the 6 charges and it’s now time for her to pay the piper.
Nazir Afzal, the former chief crown prosecutor for north-west England, tweeted, “How is it that those supporting the convicted child sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell are being given air time on national media?” In another tweet he wrote, “I cannot understand why
#r4today is providing a platform for family and friends of Ghislaine Maxwell to proclaim her innocence and undermine the jury’s verdicts. Is this service to be made available to all convicted sex offenders?”
He also had this to say:

“Now that Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty of selling children for sexual abuse, don’t you think we should investigate whom she sold the children to?
I don’t want to hear another word about how tragic her life is, only want to hear about the devastation caused to victims”.
I agree with all his comments 100%.
