Excerpt from a BBC article:

"...Sarah Krissoff, a former prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, told the BBC she expected a "very significant prison sentence" for Maxwell.

"Given the involvement of minors, the judge has really great discretion to impose a significant sentence, and based on the evidence that was presented at trial, frankly, I expect the judge to impose a very severe sentence upon her," she said..."

I hope she's right!

While the guilty verdict still rings loudly, the sentencing has not been announced. We have seen/read a few suggestions from legal pundits on what GM's sentence might be. But... the suspicious cat in me is very aware that some sort of "agreement" was reached with ALL parties regarding the redactions of names, the hiding from the public view of certain evidence, the non-disclosure if you will. Could this be considered part of an 'agreement'...or a deal even?

Personally, I wanted this trial to be the trial to END the sexual exploitation and abuse of women. It has been eye opening to me, that there still is a protected class... ( see redactions) even in our Judicial system.

I will continue to hope that there will be a maximum sentence given to GM, but sadly I will not be surprised if it is not.

If she knew she was going to lose the case, surely she would have plead guilty and avoided trial? Trial was a detour on the way to sentencing if she knew she was guilty. She could have cut to the chase. IIRC she would have had a lesser sentence for taking responsibility (which she doesn't at all).

IMO the fact that GM doesn't think the charges are warranted, and takes no responsibility, makes me think she had NO idea she was going to lose.

Also, does anyone know if her treatment of everyone while in jail will add to her sentence? There was all that stuff about not wanting to clean her toilet, and being forced to clean it.... That's prolly the tip of the iceberg as far as how she treated staff. And, I mean, if she couldn't cooperate with authority to the extent of cleaning her own toilet, well, that's serious non-cooperation. This might not work out for her in sentencing....

Time for GM to start "yes ma'am-ing" and "no sir-ing" up the wazoo.

I wasn’t aware of this do you have a link please? I’d be interested to read this!

It's so gratifying to me that this entitled arrogant and vile woman was and will be dominated by all these expendable little people who were nothing more than a means to bolster her own self importance.

I remember reading somewhere, that at fancy events, that while socializing with somebody, she'd be constantly looking over her shoulder to see if someone with more power and status was around so that she could drop whomever to hobnob with the other.
None of that anymore lady, you are littler than the little people now.

This doesn't bode well for Prince Andrew....maybe Ghislaine can bargain for a reduced sentence if she cooperates in his trial. (LOL).

I've been wondering about this. Could she make a deal for a reduced sentence if she gives names? I'm sure there are more people involved in this than the ones made public. I want everyone involved in this to be made public. Private citizens, Royals, celebrities, politicians, everyone.

I found it interesting in one of the articles someone opined she thought some big names would openly come to her defense.
Seems now she is a pariah.

Daily Telegraph
Ghislaine Maxwell could name names in attempt to reduce her prison sentence
Facing decades in prison - potentially the rest of her life - Ghislaine Maxwell could finally turn to a drastic option she has long ignored.

The Miami Herald, which has provided world-leading coverage of the Epstein scandal for years, reported Maxwell introduced herself to a producer from a major US news network in the courtroom and suggested she was willing to talk publicly.

“Maxwell smiled and introduced herself, and was heard to say that she was willing to speak to the media before a marshal told the journalist to return to his seat,” the paper reported.

Yup, you usually get some charges dropped and a lesser sentence if you take a plea deal.

Her problems with obnoxious guards complaining about her toilet and horrible jail conditions won't affect her sentence at all.

I have not posted on this thread, but have been here silently watching and hoping for justice for these young women. Very happy at the verdict, but I would not be surprised if her sentence is somewhat light. Who decides on that - the jury or the judge?

Assuming GM were to name names, no one will believe her without receipts.

A pariah in Manchester by the Sea as well.

Ghislaine Maxwell's neighbors were so disgusted when they discovered an accused sex trafficker was living among them that they tried to harass her into leaving..
But in February 2019 neighbors learned the quiet, well-dressed woman in their midst had been accused of procuring young girls for pedophile Jeffrey Epstein — and they decided to act.

'They were absolutely appalled to learn who they were allowing to have the run of their property,' one resident told DailyMail.com.

Ghislaine Maxwell: What next after guilty verdict?

Her jail term will be decided by US District Judge Alison Nathan, who has not yet set a sentencing date.

For the moment, Judge Nathan will be waiting to receive a pre-sentence report. This will be compiled by an impartial investigator who will look into things like Maxwell's background, family, education and employment history to determine if any of these should influence the severity or leniency of the sentence.

Sarah Krissoff, a former prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, told the BBC she expected a "very significant prison sentence" for Maxwell.

"Given the involvement of minors, the judge has really great discretion to impose a significant sentence, and based on the evidence that was presented at trial, frankly, I expect the judge to impose a very severe sentence upon her," she said.

While Maxwell awaits sentencing, she will be held in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where she has been kept in isolation since July 2020, and has previously complained about the conditions.

Judge Nathan will decide her sentence. Date, as of yet to be determined...

She enjoyed a vigorous defense at trial, and she had a meticulous jury that inspected the evidence for multiple days,” noted Krell, the author of “Taking Down Backpage.” “At this point, she’s really going to have to face the music. I mean, these crimes carry 10-year minimums. She turned 60 last week, so she’s looking at possibly serving the rest of her life.”

As for the pending perjury counts, Krell said: “They could potentially go to trial, although it might make sense for Miss Maxwell to admit to those charges, and have the sentencing run concurrent, whatever she’s facing, if she’s hoping for any kind of leniency whatsoever on her on her current slate of convictions.”

Some experts have explored the possibility that Maxwell could cooperate with prosecutors following her convictions, but Krell believed that this option may be of limited appeal to her prosecutors.

“It’s pretty uncommon, at this stage of the game after a full jury trial, for someone to cooperate in a way that’s really meaningful to the outcome of their sentencing,” Krell said. “In other words, that ship has kind of sailed for her.”

Typically, cooperators are valuable in going after someone higher in a criminal conspiracy.

“Here, the way the evidence was painted, the only one above her is the person who’s dead now, Mr. Epstein himself,” Krell said.

In addition, defense attorneys would likely attack Maxwell’s credibility if she turned cooperator, given the exposure that she faces.

Great article! Very informative, with quite a few little twisty turns going on. Thanks for sharing!

Of note: The ' Sweetheart Deal' from 2008, that was granted to Epstein as well as all others who may have participated.

The protected class....protecting their protected.

Thank you for this! Much appreciated :) Seems her behaviour towards prison staff needs to improve if she hopes to not have a hard time in there!
Yep.
The arrogant self important expression "Do you know who I am?" won't go over well in her new reality.
