NY - Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein confidante, arrested on Sex Abuse charges, Jul 2020 #5

  • #1,081
Notorious sex criminal Ghislaine Maxwell answered questions from Justice Department officials about “100 different people” linked to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, an attorney for the disgraced socialite claimed Friday following two days of interrogation led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

David Oscar Markus told reporters that his client, currently serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted in Manhattan of federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges in December 2021, was “asked about every possible thing you could imagine – everything.”

Ghislaine Maxwell, who sources told ABC News initiated the meetings with the Department of Justice, answered questions for about nine hours over two days after being granted a limited form of immunity, sources tell me & @AaronKatersky
The so-called proffer immunity is commonly granted to individuals prosecutors are seeking to make cooperators in a criminal case. Maxwell has already been tried, convicted and sentenced for sex trafficking underage girls.

She needs NO immunity, she's already convicted- only from being Epsteined.

Yeah, I'm not understanding why they granted her immunity. Either it's a meaningless gesture or there is something else she wasn't charged for (and now won't be).

If they were seeking truth, they would have asked the victims, not the perpetrator.

From 2022 after Maxwell was sentenced.

Maxwell's appeal revolves around a highly controversial 2007 plea agreement Epstein negotiated with the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida.

"The United States," the plea agreement stated, "agrees that it will not institute any criminal charges against any potential co-conspirators of Epstein, including but not limited to" four other suspects.
Maxwell was not listed as one of those suspects — but her lawyers argue she didn't need to be.

The fact that Epstein's plea agreement is still reverberating 18 years later underscores just how unusual it was. The sweetheart deal has fueled conspiracy theories and criticisms about how the well-connected escape justice.

In 2020, an internal Justice Department report from its Office of Professional Responsibility rapped Acosta for using "poor judgment" in essentially giving a wrist-slap to the pedophile

“We are appealing not only to the Supreme Court but to the president himself to recognize how profoundly unjust it is to scapegoat Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s crimes, especially when the government promised she would not be prosecuted.”

Prediction: She's getting a pardon or her case overturned on appeal. It's coming.

Even before Acosta, the local prosecutor was reluctant to take the case to trial.

The prosecutor claimed the young women's testimony was unreliable, they were just voluntarily choosing to behave as prostitutes (I'm not defending him, just explaining what is claimed in the article) . Young women other than Maxwell were identified as his procurers.

The local police, who had done a lot of work investigating, including going through his trash, were furious that the prosecutor didn't want to lay more serious charges, the Sheriff took it to the media (including the New York Times, which published an article but it's behind a paywall) .

This was all back in 2006.

Eventually, Acosta took over and made the plea deal in June 2008.

And everyone - including the media - IMO, forgot about it.

Until, also IMO, "Me too". Plus the unresolved anger still simmering from the Nov 08 crash, against rich people who got away without punishment.

So it came roaring back, but this time fueled by all that pent-up anger generated by more recent social issues.

IMO, the local police did a very thorough job of investigating him in Palm Beach, and they found no evidence - zero - that other men were involved.

I don't know where this bribery, etc. stuff comes from, except fervent imaginations.

I found the book, Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story, by Julie K. Brown, to be a very informative primer on Jeffrey Epstein. Very well researched. It make following what's happening today much easier. There are so many twists and turns.

Moo.. with respect to the girls...they were not that young, violence was not involved. Some parents seemed to of pushed their girls into hanging out with money. Weird case. Wish he had kept a client list. But why don't the girls know who the clients were??... Moo

IMO, it's complicated by very large settlements and non-disclosure agreements, eg Prince Andrew.

They were as young as 15. They were not of legal age to consent. They were threatened and emotionally manipulated. They were terrified. IMO, most of his alleged victims would have no reason to know who the clients were.

Moo...well visually the girls should recognize their clients. They were threatened?

Allegedly, yes. When they were on the island, their passports were taken, and they were told if they told anyone what was happening to them their family and friends could be harmed.

They might be able to recognize their clients but not know their names. And if they were scared they might not remember them visually or on site. That is very common with victims of violent crime.

I only read the testimony against Maxwell, which did not include anyone making threats.

Do you have a link?

Just a comment: after Ghislaine Maxwell's father's death, it came out that he was a fraudster and sometime Israeli agent. He'd emptied millions from pension funds, and the pensioners never got all the money back.

IMO, Epstein is still quite mysterious re how he got his millions (not billions), and could similarly have been involved in dodgy financial scemes. He's been accused of being involved in a big Ponzi scheme (Towers Financial Corp).

IMO, he moved in big money circles, he had other ways to make big money than operate the equivalent of a cheap SE Asian massage parlour.
