NY - Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein confidante, arrested on Sex Abuse charges, Jul 2020 #5

  • #1,141
As a convicted sex offender, Maxwell would not normally be eligible for a minimum-security prison. According to a Bureau of Prisons policy, people with a sex offender determination known as a “public safety factor” are required to be housed in at least low-security prisons unless they receive a waiver from an arm of the bureau that designates inmates. Low-security prisons are more restrictive than minimum-security ones.

"You didn't suffer that much." Or, "other people have been through far worse than you" are some of the reasons victims of many types of crimes, but especially SA and DV don't come forward. A crime is a crime - and yes, some situations are worse and fairness is not equal (not by a long shot) - but crimes are still illegal.

Yes. Just because someone is wealthy and well connected doesn’t mean they’re above the law.

Sadly, it happens all the time in the U.S.

However, if she and everyone else associated with these crimes were not rich and famous, nobody would know anything about it.

It would never have been in the news, people would never have written books about it, proposed theories about it, discussed it on websleuths, or gotten furious about it.
None of this charade is being done for the benefit of the victims, JMO. Not this time. It’s being done to protect GM’s powerful co-conspirators or partners in crime.

Jeffrey Epstein victims and family blast Trump for Ghislaine Maxwell prison transfer - CNBC

"It is with horror and outrage that we object to the preferential treatment convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has received," the statement said.

"Ghislaine Maxwell is a sexual predator who physically assaulted minor children on multiple occasions, and she should never be shown any leniency," the statement said.

"Yet, without any notification to the Maxwell victims, the government overnight has moved Maxwell to a minimum security luxury prison in Texas," the statement said.

"This is the justice system failing victims right before our eyes. The American public should be enraged by the preferential treatment being given to a pedophile and a criminally charged child sex offender. The Trump administration should not credit a word Maxwell says, as the government itself sought charges against Maxwell for being a serial liar," the statement said.

"This move smacks of a cover up. The victims deserve better," the statement said.

"Maxwell was moved early on Thursday morning in a two-car convoy that drove ‘for 16-hours straight’ to Bryan, Texas.

She was not shackled during the drive and stopped once for a toilet break in Louisiana.

'It is unprecedented for a convicted sex offender such as Maxwell
– sentenced to 20 years –
to be moved to a minimum-security facility like Bryan,
nicknamed ‘Camp Fed’.

The source explained:

‘There is a different class of people at Bryan so she is less likely to be attacked.
It is an all-female facility.

These are non-violent, white-collar criminals.
It is a professionally run prison camp with a great warden, working cameras everywhere and properly trained staff. She is far safer there'."

I find that reason hard to believe. Prisoners are concerned about her "snitching" on powerful men?

Huh. News to me.

Maybe "snitching" on the prisoners?

Who knows? 🤔

After all,
she was complaining a lot while being there.

The article doesn't imply the prisoners were mad she was snitching on them.

From the article, bbm:

"The source said: ‘As soon as Ghislaine spoke to the government she was considered a snitch by other inmates at Tallahassee. There were very real and very credible threats on her life. The prison had dangerous inmates serving time for serious crimes like rape and murder."

eta: I don't think prisoners upset at GM are the reason for the move. jmo

I'm trying to wrap my head around whoever could have ordered a "waiver"? s/

"The BOP did not specify why she was transferred.

But according to the bureau's designation policy, Maxwell appears ineligible to be housed at a minimum-security prison camp because she is a convicted sex offender.

Sex offenders must be in at least a low-level security prison like FCI Tallahassee, unless she received a waiver.

Only the administrator of BOP's Designation and Sentence Computation Center can make that decision, according to the waiver policy."

When I was a stressed out single working mom I would have loved a week or two with a NO visitors stipulation.

"According to the prison handbook, life at the prison is centred around work, with prisoners earning up to $1.15 an hour for their jobs – many of which involve food service and factory work. These can even be off-site opportunities, for the best behaved prisoners.

They can spend up to $360 a month of their earnings during assigned shopping days at a commissary, which sells beauty products including L’oreal Revita anti-ageing cream for $26.00, a Kerasal nailcare product for $20, and chest binders for trans prisoners for $26.

Beyond work, inmates may take classes on foreign languages, gardening and beautification. They can play sports, watch television and attend religious services. They are also granted freedoms not available in most low security prisons, including more relaxed visiting hours and more time outside, and lower guard-to-inmate ratios."

For inmates trying to trim down, the prison has a gym kitted out with treadmills, elliptical trainers, stairmasters and a range of weights.

Outside, convicts can take part in sports including football, table tennis, softball, volleyball, weightlifting, yoga, Pilates and the Jumpstart weight loss programme. There are also picnic tables, bleachers and televisions available for prisoners to wind down".

“She deserves to be out, and maybe she never deserved to be there in the first place,” Kelly emphasized, arguing that the descriptions of Maxwell and Epstein as “perverts” and “child molesters” were things we had “heard” from the “media” and “prosecutors.”

After Real America’s Voice host Eric Bolling asked, “Should Ghislaine Maxwell be behind bars?” Dershowitz responded:

She shouldn’t be, but she is. She is really serving Jeffrey Epstein’s sentence. After he committed suicide, there was no one else to prosecute ’cause there was no real information against anybody else and so they went after her and they sentenced her to the sentence that would have been appropriate for Epstein, but not at all appropriate for her, and so she’s appealing now and I hope the appeal will be granted. She deserves to be out.

This is infurating. Survivors testified that GM didn't just procure the girls for JE, she also participated in the abuse. She most certainly should be behind bars. She most certainly does not deserve to be out.

I thnk Dershowitz is protesting just a little too much, especially considering he admits to having a massage at JE's house, despite supposedly not liking massages much. If you don't like them, why get one? I mean I don't like asparagus so you won't ever see me shoving it onto my plate. Why would you feel the need to assert that you kept your underwear on when no one had accused you of taking it off?

Also, by JE's definition, "middle-aged" was probably about 17. And Dershowitz argued that the age of consent should be 15, maybe even 14. So it's not as if he would be philosophically or morally opposed to having sexual relations with a young girl.

Source:

The lawyer has denied having a personal relationship with Epstein but did previously reveal that he had once received a massage from a middle-aged woman at Epstein’s house. “I kept my underwear on during the massage. I don’t like massages, particularly,” he told WPLG in 2019. “Were there young women in another part of the house giving massages when I wasn’t around? I have no idea of that,” he said.

No, the judge said so as well. She IS a convicted sex-offender, trafficker, and perjurer. Epstein deserved a Life Sentence as well. Now she's in Club Fed. GRRRR!
