Of course, lack of cleanliness (personal or otherwise) often goes with depression. It would not be surprising if GM is suffering seriously from depression, given her likely future. I could almost feel sorry for her . . . no, I couldn't.
I know... I saw that year typo. The Courtlistener's reporter must be clairvoyant to know GM's "lowest observed weight was 133 pounds in July of 2021." BBM
Oh dear, is this where the defence is going? BBM.
"...Attorney Bobbi Sternheim wrote in a letter late Wednesday that an effort by prosecutors “to publicly embarrass and humiliate Ms. Maxwell in the hostile court of public opinion further erodes the likelihood that her case will be tried by a fair and impartial jury.”...
Fight over Ghislaine Maxwell's jail conditions heats up
Given what seem like absolutely horrible living conditions in her current confinement, I would advise she plea guilty of something in exchange for a better jail to live out the rest of her life. She could always make friends with the rats in her filthy cell - I believe they make very good pets.

Not that she's interested in my advice, lol.

They might accept a plea if she names a bigger fish.Would they even offer her a plea deal? SDNY needed an airtight case before bringing charges.
I think this, too. The only possible deal she could get would be if she snitches on someone higher up the chain.Would they even offer her a plea deal? SDNY needed an airtight case before bringing charges.
Yes, the conditions are unnecessarily barbaric, though I don't think many, if anyone, is singling her out for pity.As someone who from 18 to 20 in NYC lived somewhat like her victims, I have very little sympathy for her. However, I hope rather than singling her out for pity, the USA could redress the prison conditions for ALL prisoners. Our prisons are unnecessarily terrifying and barbaric.
I hear you. I meant her lawyers were singling her out for pity, when they should be concerned about everybody’s mice, toilets or roaches.Yes, the conditions are unnecessarily barbaric, though I don't think many, if anyone, is singling her out for pity.
My comment about making a plea for better conditions was simply my way of pointing out that admitting guilt could be her only hope for better conditions to live out her life, in my non-legal-expert opinion. I have no idea of that is actually an option. I suspect she has few options.

Ironically, GM's prison conditions sound pretty cush. She's allowed to use a computer and a laptop (specifically allocated to her) 12+ hours a day. Her meals are either baked or microwaved (sounds like the rest of us, and me on a good day). She's not in general pop and has her own space (and apparently her own day room as well?). And, in the scheme of things, she doesn't seem to get that many searches. Since she arrived, she's only had pat downs. As someone who from 18 to 20 in NYC lived somewhat like her victims, I have very little sympathy for her. I do feel for other inmates, but especially their children.
Yeah. She's been issued that laptop for her sole use for 14 or so hours a day. And she also has a computer at her disposal. IMO it's sickening the privileges she's been given.Yes, the general population at the MDC suffer appalling conditions, but GM gets as many rich white woman privileges as physically possible. The other inmates can't be too happy about that.
eta: Independent: She's complaining about an FBI laptop that she's been given to sort through newly released photo evidence.
