to be fair though do you think shes likely to ever be released in America?
Nope.

Nope.
One of the problems I see with any conviction is the photo that is used to prove that Giuffre met Prince Andrew. She states that she was being trafficked my Epstein, that Epstein forced her to be sexually abused by Andrew, that Andrew did sexually abuse her. Yet, we have a photo where she looks calm, relaxed and happy with Andrew. On the surface, it seems like a contradiction.
It seems to me that men are oblivious that for a teen girl sb who is nearing 30 is an old fossil.
Such girls have eyes only for boys their age - thats why I think Romeo and Juliet Law is fair.
Ask whatever teen girl in your family.
Sb who thinks a teen girl is enjoying herself being pawed by a man 20+her senior is deluding himself.
I remember myself and my friends at this age - such a man would be ridiculed and chased by an irate father as a perv.
Unfortunately, Virginia didnt have anybody to stand for her.
She was being taken advantage of by evil people.
People with no dignity and respect for others.
A society which doesnt protect its youngsters is doomed.
I actually disagree...a lot of girls go out with guys more than just a year or so older than them. I used to work with someone who went out with a guy twenty years older than her..they are actually now married. A lot of girls....who are say 15 or so seem to find it "exciting " having an older boyfriend....though its actually against the law but still. I know myself when I was 18 I dated something 25 and thought nothing of it.
Was your co-worker under the age of consent when she started this relationship?
to be honest I have often wondered that...but the comment above didnt say that....it said that 18 year olds wouldnt be interested in people not their age when they often are.
Okay, then, apples and oranges, because Virginia was not in a consensual relationship with any of them.
Just because Scotland Yard isn't pursuing the case doesn't mean it didn't happen.
MOO
Not really nowadays, it depends on the circumstances. If it's a victim of Child Sexual Exploitation there'd be a need for a defendant to reasonably believe the victim was over the age of 18.In this country a 16 year old can legally have sex with anyone as long as they are not in a position of responsibility,,,
Rape and Sexual Offences - Chapter 7: Key Legislation and Offences | The Crown Prosecution Service
- A person is a child if under 18.
- Consent is not in issue. It does not matter if a child of 16 or 17 consents to the activity, it is those who exploit children who commit the criminal act.
Consent in Child Sexual Exploitation cases
In cases involving the alleged grooming of vulnerable complainants such as youths, apparent consent to sexual activity may not amount to consent in law. In these circumstances determining whether to select; consensual or non-consensual offences may be complex.
Context
Context is all important to the consideration of freedom and capacity to choose. It is necessary to focus on complainant’s state of mind in the context of all the relevant circumstances.
These will include:
•their age, maturity and understanding;
•whether s/he knew or understood the position they were in and what they were being asked to do;
•the history of the relationship between the complainant and suspect;
•position of power over the complainant;and, especially for younger and/or vulnerable victims:
•any earlier provision by the suspect of any gifts, alcohol or drugs; •promises by the suspect of a more secure or exciting way of life;
•insincere compliments and/or kindness shown by the suspect;
•any other evidence of exploitation or grooming so that s/he may not understand the full significance of what they are doing.
