NY - Giraffe Watch: April, 15, due to give birth at Animal Adventure Park #2

O/T but for any cat fans who need another "watch", my GMA and I stumbled upon #kittenwatch.

Two sweet pregnant ferals (Evolene and Corsica) that were taken in by a rescue, brought to health, and are both due at any time. Both mamas will be spayed after this litter, as will all of their kittens. I have so much respect and admiration for people who lovingly give of their time to take in the strays of the world.

Certainly not on par with April, but there are almost 4,000 people watching right now.

I hope all of the kittens are born healthy. When I was younger, we had a cat that had kittens and one of the kittens ate a piece of a corn chip that had fallen to the floor and the poor thing choked to death. It was horrible to watch! I remember laughing because I didn't understand what was going on and thought the kitten was being silly. It didn't take long for my laughter to change to tears. To make matters worse, the mama cat kept going out back and digging the kitten up and placing her nestled among her other kittens. It was horrifying!!

The link kindly provided about the arguement today between them did not show it . Does anyone know how to get it - I am hoping to think they were playing, but is was not on that one.

It was funny tho. I took the mouse and ran it across to speed it up nd was going to stop when I saw them both in there. It was hysterical it made it fast motion,

I thought oh shi#, that looks like me 35 years ago on the dance floor! DRUNK!

PS I have not seen Ollie sneaking out to the cigar store ! How phallic is that stuff??

She seems less fat tonight than last night- could this be a govt mind fu$K?

I think they deleted it! Earlier you could rewind to the beginning of the current live feed and watch them and now the feed starts after Oliver was let out of April's stall.

How horrible! I'm so sorry you had to witness that... and poor Mama Cat. I suppose nature does take it course sometimes, but man, that's tough.

As to why it cannot be seen now :moo: is that it happened about 12:45 pm today. The current video loop only goes back 4 hours from 10:00 pm (right now). I would have no idea how to get a previous video loop.

That makes sense. I know nothing about these things and could not think of a reason why they would take that part out.

Oh my goodness, what a tearjerker.

A couple of years ago, a scruffy stray had kittens in my GMA's yard. She was completely wild, but I had big plans for her 3 sickly babies. Two were solid white but clearly had some kind of infection, their eyes were runny and crusty. When they started to come out and wobble around, I made the mistake of picking one up and loving on it. I was getting the number out for my vet to take the kittens and mama took them away. We never saw them again. I was devastated. So, so many unwanted kitties and puppies.

I'm worried about Evolene's babies, it sounds like she was in really bad shape when these wonderful people found her. I'm anxious to see their babies, hopefully at least some will make it and find good homes, and I'm so thankful that neither mama will ever have to have another litter.

4/5 Evening Update
Long one
Corey noted some changes this evening. April's backend has some significant "bulging" occurring. Photo in comments. She was very "with it" but then became very distracted and as Corey put it, "would have walked right through me". Though sounding intimidating; this behavior is what we will see - consistently - when in active labor. She will walk through her strong contractions and push push push.
All else is well and fresh air and the outdoors was enjoyed at length today!

Allysa's morning report is of significant change in April's shape. Her body/belly is much less beach balled, as the bulges have streamlined. Perhaps suggesting a new position of calf...we hope for launch sequence!

As I watched daily, her body shape has become more elongated and stream-lined without the side bulging that I noticed earlier. Calf must be positioning itself into the birth canal and will make an entrance when it's good and ready I hope everything goes smoothly for April and her little one raying:

This photo is where she eats often, and we can see where the bulges are. Shall we sleuth as the pattern on her belly to hind legs and where it is stretched vs. bulged should be easy to compare.

I told my workout partners yesterday at the gym that if we worked really hard, maybe April the giraffe would give birth to her calf. The three of us worked our butts off, but April still hasn't had her calf Another training session tomorrow, and if April still hasn't had her baby, I will suggest again that we work our tushies off to get the show on the road

After yesterday's question re "fight" "head bang" .. I think that this live feed always goes back four hours.

I saw that yesterday, and still at this moment one can do a 3 hour 58 minute "rewind" to beginning of live feed.
