I think I figured April out. This is a long work up to the biggest and most viewed April Fools Day joke. :scared:
Did you notice April has a 🤬🤬🤬 page? I think she's running a scam! Can she avoid any charges if she claims on Apr 1 it was all an April Fools Day joke? :innocent:

April just 'kicked' the vet. Did anyone see that? Her lower leg hit his leg. Hope he's okay.

oh heavens. I am beginning to think April is faking. My mom and I have been watching for weeks along with the rest of the world. I am convinced at this point there is no baby and this is a Maury Povitch episode in the making.

Do we know, has oliver been stepping out?

They said she may have not gotten pregnant on the noted mating. It was probably 17 days later at her next cycle.

I didn't see it but ouch!
I scrolled the feed back to see it. He sure left right after it happened. It's interesting to watch her behavior with the vet and then her behavior with Alyssa! April definitely has her favorites! :)

I watched the live chat yesterday and they said yes there's always someone monitoring.

Does April seem to be pacing more than usual or am I hallucinating (or maybe it's just wishful thinking?).

She certainly is. She's pacing almost continuously and her tail is up quite a bit. Could it be??? Could it be starting? :happydance:

At this point I am going to be completely crushed if she delivers in the middle of the night and I miss it. Last week I would have been upset, but I am so invested at this point! Can they put some kind of monitor around her so we can know when she's contracting? She would just LOVE that! LOL Our poor, rotund mama...

I hope when we get our nightly update they let us know if the vet is ok!

3/6 Evening Update
What A Day!
April continues to grow! Her mood continued to improve, however she was not impressed with our vets advances this afternoon. Our vet does a remarkable job - and he asks the hard questions of our animals - while we, the keepers, get to love on them and provide treats! The vet's visit this afternoon, was ended early by a toe tapping April, whose fancy footwork ended with a small front kick...but if you ask me - it looked like lazy jazz hands! April was simply "stating" she was done with her exam and reminding everyone this is her space. All are well; keepers, giraffes, and the vet!

Snipped some, more at link. Glad to hear the vet is ok!

I'm so glad the vet is ok!! I rewound too and made my husband watch. It looked like he got kicked twice. Hubby's father took a horse kick in the jaw and of course his jaw broke and my father took one in the leg and of course his leg broke. I couldn't imagine a giraffe kick and was worried about the vet all afternoon.

I remember being extremely cranky when pregnant so I don't blame April but wow poor vet.

If you scroll back to 1543 on April's you tube video, you will see April standing by the wall of her enclosure. At about 1547 she walks to the middle of her pen, puts her neck out and down with her tail extended out. Her tummy appears very round and firm. This looks like a possible contraction to me. It looks like she may be feeling pressure. JMO

Of course, I could be TOTALLY wrong! :shame:

Dear April,
It's night again and I'm off to :offtobed:

Birthing tonight is just a "no" from me.

Thanks for taking this matter into consideration!

Love from El Paso, Texas.

Has anyone else subscribed to the email list that will alert us when active labor starts?

I have never watched an animals back end as much as I have stared at April's. She is a beautiful animal. Today is going to be the day I am sure.

Did anybody see yesterday when April and Oliver were standing close to each other (but each in their own enclosure) and April was eating the hay and Oliver was sticking his tongue over trying to get some? They crack me up!
