From what I understand, a financial institution recognized money-laundering activity in an account(s) and alerted proper authorities.

Now, I thought that activity was in the accounts managed by the Emperors Club owners, but last night I heard the account was Spitzers. I haven't heard anything else about that, nor have I had a chance to read today's news coverage about it.

You're right. I also just read an article about the Lt. Governor who will make history today if he assumes the governorship. He is not only a black man but also blind. That's a first for both in NY State.

I think that she hurried into the building because she is EXTREMELY embarrassed and wanted to avoid being photographed by the press. The embarrassment was due to her husband's actions (not once but repeated times). I can imagine that she is embarrassed, angry, sad and every other emotion that you can imagine. He ruined their lives and the lives of his children because of his extreme selfishness, stupidity and arrogance. That would be the final straw for me. I guess that we'll see if it is for her.

NEW YORK — She stood silently, stunned beside her husband, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, as he read a statement of apology to his family Monday afternoon following disclosure of what is believed to be his love tryst with a high-priced prostitute.

But the words failed to soothe Silda Wall Spitzer's closest friends, who advised her to take the kids and run.

"They were great together — fun, fabulous to be around. There was never even one small inkling of anything like this," the friend told the New York Daily News. "If I were her, I would call my mother or my best friend and pack my bags and go someplace far away for six months and take my daughters with me."

Better for the girls to finish school. The eldest is about to graduate. I would kick him out, though. They have a big house upstate where he can go.

I told my DH this morning that just once I would love for one of these wives to step up to the podium while thier husbands are reading their BS and say" Once this press conference is over, this will be leaving our residence, he is on his own.

This is a slap in the face of the wives and because they are "political wives and all that goes with it" are they to relinquish their dignity as well. I really dont care what sort of shyte he has gotten himself into, but to do this publically to his family is just awful.

Did anyone catch Dr. Laura on the morning show (not sure which one)? She actually is blaming WIVES for their men cheating!! The wives aren't giving their men what they need so they have to get it elsewhere! OMG! Has she lost her mind?!?! The other two Docs on the show were as shocked as I was!!

I hope Spitzer just gets the resignation over with, the annual NYS budget is due April 1st. As a citizen of New York, I'm very upset with Spitzer, he needs to go and not cling on for dear life. I had to explain prostitiution to my son last night, thanks Steamroller.
I feel bad for his wife and children too, I think she was in shock during the press conference. There is no way I would have been standing there beside hii, I wish she belted him.
Wonder how much all this is going to cost the taxpayers? What a jerk Elliot is.

I heard last night that he was the son of a millionaire, which could account for some of his selfish behavior. I hope his wife decides to clean out his account and take her fair share of his millions. She certainly has earned every dime.

You know, my family live paycheck to paycheck, never mind taking a nice vacation, cannot afford it right now. Then when taxpayers money is used like this(assuming it was) this absolutely inflames me. Our money is misused and mishandled on so many levels. My son is military, and I tell myself that my taxes go to pay his salary and for his families healthcare. I have to convince myself of that or I just get so pissed I cannot see straight.

He is very arrogant, has many enemies, and a horrible temper as well. We are a laughing stock, and New Yorkers deserve better than this. How dare he sit in multi million dollar apartment on Fifth Avenue and play "Let's make a Deal" while the state government is paralyzed.

I disagreed with Spitzer's proposed policy to give illegal aliens drivers licenses. I was called a raciest, a demagogue, and morally inept. This was a policy issue, and instead of discussing policy he called everyone who opposed this policy awful names instead of discussing why he thought the idea had merit. I voted for the guy, and was deeply disappointed in his behavior, and now this, sickening.

When I used to work in outside sales, I would sometime catch her on the radio. I would get so over stimulated that I had to stop listening for fear of road rage. The way she speaks to some of those callers. Then to blame this mess with the Gov on his wife. Oh my.
