James Friel
Missing from Buffalo, NY. Vehicle found in McKean County, PA

James Friel left his home in Buffalo NY on June 30, 2011 due to “family problems”. The police filed the missing person report on July 4, 2011.

Friel, 38 at the time, is described as a six-foot-tall, 180-pound, white male with brown hair and glasses.

On Thursday, July 7, 2011, Friel’s green Ford Ranger pickup truck with a white cap was found in a parking lot at Marilla Reservoir off West Washington Street, 5 miles west of Bradford, Pennsylvania. Police believe it had been parked there for “some time.” Friel was familiar with that area, especially nearby Allegany State Park (NY).

Police utilized used Rod Johnson, bloodhound handler, who searched into Thursday evening without success. Another search commenced the next day at 10:00 AM, after inclement weather had passed through the area. The McKean County Dive Team and Glade Township Fire Department Water Rescue (Warren County, PA) searched the reservoir. A search of the adjacent area was conducted by 14 members of the Bradford Township Fire Department and 3 Bradford Township police officers. All search efforts were terminated at 8:30 PM.

Some media reports speculated that he may have had intentions to harm himself, but that has not been confirmed.

James Friel remains missing. If you have any information about this case please contact the McKean County Dept. of Emergency Services at 814-887-4911

This is a case i have wanted to try to figure out and have been trying to figure out for a while now.
James friel was a Buffalo man who pretty much just disappeared into thin air years and years after the case and still not hints to it at all.

There has only been a single post in regards to James's missing person case.Look at family as well as friends to know eval as to if there was a post at any point from them or From buffalo police.

I submitted Mr Friel to NamUs on Feb 25, 2019. His case is still in My Dashboard but not yet viewable to the public. The case info has been modified a couple of times and now has Buffalo PD as the contact, not the McKean County (PA) info on the flyer in the first post.

Circumstances slightly different. I didn't have the "possible confrontation with wife and wife's boyfriend" or the chipped tooth when I entered the info. And they've changed not only the LE contact but have added Lori Bruski, NamUs Regional Program Specialist as a Case Contributor. Lori is RPS for NY, Amy Jenkinson is RPS for PA. Could be (just a guess) that if/when they make the case viewable to the public, they'll have it listed under NY instead of PA.

Truck of missing Buffalo man found at Marilla Reservoir
By Amanda Nichols Special to the Olean Times Herald Jul 11, 2011

BRADFORD, Pa. — Bradford Township Police are searching for a Buffalo, N.Y., man — missing since July 4 — whose truck was found in a parking lot at Marilla Reservoir off West Washington Street last week.

Police said they were notified of a suspicious vehicle by a hiker in the area at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and discovered a green Ford Ranger pickup truck with a white cap bearing a New York registration which seemed to have been parked at the location for “some time.”

Following a registration check, police found that the truck belonged to James E. Friel, 38, who was reported missing and endangered out of the Buffalo area July 4. Friel is described as a six-foot-tall, 180-pound, white male with brown hair and glasses. Police said they were told by officers in New York state that Friel may have had intentions to harm himself.

Why would it still not be public after they modified it?

I don't think they've decided which state to list it under, NY or PA. It sort of reminds me of Mary Lou Bostwick. She's from Athens, Bradford County, PA but last seen being dropped off to babysit in Waverly, NY. She's in NamUs under NY.
