From the above story:

Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. instructed the potential jurors that the defendant has the right to a fair trial regardless of what they may have seen, heard, or read. “If you tell me that you cannot put certain matters aside and render a fair verdict, you will be excused,” said Revoir.

“I heard so many things on TV, I don’t think I could give a fair verdict,” said one potential jurror.

“I’ve heard things, I’ve seen things on the news, I have read things. I have my opinion,” said another.

Both were excused, along with dozens more.

i found two people twittering or tweetering whatever its called. I made an account a long time ago for some reason, but don't really do anything with it. Anyway the one someone posted up above (thanks!) and another reporter. I searched for #ramsarantrial to find the other. I also found justice4jennifer twitter account, but it doesnt look active. I followed it anyway....still not quite sure how it works, but Im on there looking. Nobody looks at my twitter (including myself LOL) or i would retweet whatever I found!

Yes, she did. But her family have the right to get justice and I don't want there to be anything Remy can use to try and wriggle his way into "reasonable doubt".

Does anyone know if the jury selection is finished? Have the opening statements begun?

9 men and 3 women chosen for jury according to the reporter's last tweet.

I wish there were more women. I assume the defense prefers men. Maybe women put more weight on the affair??

I was thinking about the jury being more heavily weighted with men as well, as even earlier on, there were more men. I'm not sure if they'll be less judgmental of the affair than women jurors, but the thing that I'm thinking about is whether men would understand that Jennifer's main objection to divorce (imo) was losing her children, which, accdg to our insider information, was what GR was trying to manipulate. IMO, this is the whole crux of the matter -- why GR would choose murder rather than divorce -- he was hoping Jennifer would go away quietly with an uncontested divorce, and he would be left with the children and the house, and could simply install the new women. When (hypothetically speaking) Jennifer put her foot down, made an appt w/ a divorce lawyer, then GR realized he was facing an expensive divorce, child support payments, maybe alimony payments, he might lose the house, etc.

I'm not sure if a mostly male jury would understand the whole dynamic -- but I rather think they might. If the men jurors are more conservative (likely in Chenango Co) they may even be just as horrified, if not more so, than women jurors, but the callous disposal of her nude body on the side of the road -- as if she were some sort of unwanted furniture.

The last twitter post said 9 men and 3 women were selected. I believe they still need two alternates though.

I dunno...do you think we will be able to view both entire opening statements?

Or are we going to get a few chosen snippets?

  • #433
I'd assume it'll be snippets. I haven't seen many video's on wbng's website that were longer than a few minutes. I wonder if there would be transcripts?

I'm not feeling upbeat about trial coverage.

Will Judge allow reporters to tweet from courtroom?

Jury selected, Ramsaran's parents speak out

Remy's mother told Action News about the moment she learned Jennifer was missing.

"I was at work when my husband called," said Tara. "And he talked to the lady who I'm working for and told her I must go home. So, I told her I would come back to work [after]. And then when I reached home, my husband told me that my daughter-in-law is missing. So, we decided to come right away to my son's house. My son was crying so much and he said 'Mom I don't know what happened, Jennifer missing and I don't know where [she is].'"

"Cry me a river"...jmo

<sniped from article & BBM for focus>

"I don't know anything about the relationship [affair]," said Remy's father Mengra Ramsaran. "But as far as I'm concerned, [it's] not because of a relationship he killed his wife. So the relationship has nothing to do with our daughter-in-law's disappearance."
