what kind of theatrics is this defense attorney employing here? he's struggling with his voice cracking on behalf of his client? how pathetic. slap in the face to the family and friends of jennifer.

shame on him.

Well, pretty much, his defense strategy seems to be:
1) It can't be proved that Jen was murdered
2) Her body wasn't found earlier due to shoddy police work

The theatrics are meant to emphasize what a shame it was that she wasn't found until the elements and animals had defaced her corpse.

Of course, he ignores the fact that his client opposed community searches for her body, tried to mislead police into believing that she'd left voluntarily with another man, and that actually, her body would have been covered with snow within about 4 days after her death (when the snows set in), and it wasn't until that time that her van was found, which was clear indication that she was most likely the victim of foul play, so it would have been at that time that police came and investigated the house and grounds and searching likely areas for her body.

Evening Sun's article on yesterday's testimony
http://www.evesun.com/news/stories/2014-09-09/19936/Mistress-testifies-in-Ramsaran-case/

Sayles was arrested nearly a month and a half ago for criminal contempt for ignoring a summons compelling her to testify. “I don’t know your rules,” said Sayles to Garcia. “They came to my work in front of my coworkers … I just walked away.”

she doesn't know the rules that are printed in black and white on the summons?
or did she just not bother, and instead tossed it without even reading it?

i'm very sorry that jennifer didn't have a true best friend.

With regard to the defendant’s relationship with Jennifer, Sayles said she had never seen him blow up at her, but they did have arguments.

“He blew up at me,” said Sayles. “He was really loud. He talks you down. Makes you feel worthless.”

Sayles said they kept in contact even after his arrest and while he was incarcerated at the Chenango County Correctional Facility. “We discussed how I love him. He loves me. We love each other. We’d move. It was that over and over for the most part,” said Sayles.

Sayles said, “I was all he had, he was all I had.”

She said she then slowly stopped accepting his phone calls, and then he stopped calling.

Jen's Mom's testimony:

Renz recalled two days prior to the date Jennifer went missing. She said she was on the webcam with her grandchildren, then they disappeared and Jennifer showed up.

“Next thing I see Ganesh walk by and he said, ‘Okay, that’s it,’ and then she was gone. The webcam was closed,” said Renz. She said that she asked her daughter the following day, “What are you … under Gestapo order?”

That was the last time Renz spoke with her daughter.

Phone Calls & Phone Usage Policy

All phone calls from jail are collect calls or through a pre-paid phone account . These phone calls are typically more costly than regular phone calls. There are certain restrictions about how often you can use the phone, but inmates must keep in mind that every inmate wants to use the phone too, so they can call their family. If you are disciplined for an infraction, phone privileges could be reduced or eliminated altogether.

I can see why GR liked this attorney, from the sounds of it he has as much idea of "appropriate" emotional reaction as his client. I hope the jury can see through his charade but I worry about how it would play in the atmosphere of the court.

thank you for sharing this.

if i remember correctly from yesterday, there was talk about $600 that was spent on communicating between GR and ES.
i'm not sure who ponied up the dough, or if that was brought up in court again after i left yesterday. it was a question asked of ES, by DA mcbride. i believe she paid for it.

ETA: my memory is foggy on this though. hard to write legibly as quickly as i'd like to. anyone who was there, feel free to correct me on this.

i don't think it's getting by the jury.
it's borderline obnoxious behavior on his part.

Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Chief Medical Examiner in Onondaga County Robert Stoppacher said Jennifer Ramsaran's body was too decomposed and picked at by animals to ever determine how she died. But he ruled her death a homicide.

Stoppacher testified Tuesday in Chenango County Court in the murder trial of Ganesh Remy Ramsaran, the New Berlin man accused of killing his wife Jennifer in December 2012.

Graphic testimony Tuesday in the murder trial of Ganesh "Remy" Ramsaran, the New Berlin man charged with second-degree murder in the December 2012 death of his wife Jennifer.

A detective from the Chenango County Sheriff's Office was on the stand for about four hours Tuesday.

The jury listened to a recording between the detective and Remy Ramsaran.

Phone call records were presented by prosecution between the dates of May 28, 2013 and August 29, 2014 from the Chenango County Jail to Eileen Sayles, Ramsaran's then girlfriend.

Stopphacher noted that there was nothing of significance on the toxicology report. - So much for his defense that she was using drugs
