Anyone have any info on that John Hunt guy -- the tractor thief?

John M. Hunt, 27, Norwich, pleaded guilty to grand larceny. “Unfortunately, it’s not looking good for Mr. Hunt. He stole someone’s tractor. The police were on the scene when the transaction took place, and he was arrested right there,” said District Attorney Joseph McBride.

McBride added that Hunt has had a lifetime of criminal activity related to drugs and alcohol. “He needs to be removed from our community. He can’t stay here if he is going to be ripping people off. He will have a couple years to think about what he has done and see what he wants to do.”

Anyone getting a read on the jury (that's in the courtroom)?

I think so far, clear and compelling motive has been proven. I was a bit disappointed that (when on stand) Jason wasn't asked about what he shared w/ us here -- that Remy had told Jen he wanted a divorce, but wanted to keep the house and kids. She'd have fought him for the kids, probably won, and then he'd have had to pay child support (and maybe also alimony?). He may have told Eileen that he'd have provided for Jen if they divorced, but just how far would his money go, if he was having to maintain two households? Weren't they already in financial arrears? I'm hoping testimony about their financial situation will be brought forward, so the jury can understand why Remy chose murder over divorce (esp. since Jen was seeking out an attorney, probably to protect her rights).

Plenty of testimony from family, friends and lover that he was a controlling, manipulative, obsessive jerk that was besotted w/ ES.

And now, evidence that he wasn't where he said he was on that fateful day.

Maybe someone else can verify, but I believe there was discussion about it. McBride asked if there was a discussion about losing the house and being responsible for alimony with the child support if Jen was to become aware of the affair.

Poor thing. Both wrists? That is going to make life so difficult for her. Hope she has some help, and gets better soon.

I'm not really finding anyting for John Hunt that would have made Garcia ask why he wasn't investigated? I see he was sent to prison Ocober 11th, 2013, for 2+ years...But don't see how a burglar would be connected. Jennifer's house was never burgled, was it?

Ignore me. Am being very slow today. Hunt was in prison with GR. And so I suppose defense might be saying that, purely by coincidence, Hunt just happened to know something about the 'real' person who killed Jennifer. And because of the fortunate coincidence in finding himself jailed at the same time as Remy, was able to confide in him what he knew.

I bet defense will never call him. Juries are allowed to take a witnesses' character and previous history into account when considering if their evidence is truthful or not. This man has proven dishonesty. In fact, I think calling him could be really damaging to the defense case - it might end up looking like someone had bribed him to give false testimony, in my opinion.

Very sad searching for news from NY today.....all the photos of 9/11 and grieving. Those victims suffered so much, and so many brave people lost their lives trying to save them.

Poor thing. Both wrists? That is going to make life so difficult for her. Hope she has some help, and gets better soon.

I wonder if she'll be able to continue w/ jury duty -- imagine she'll be needing pain meds, and both (?) wrists bandaged, which would make it hard to do anything. Like drive. Is the jury sequestered, or are they commuting home every day? If she had to step down, that leaves us with just 2 ladies on the jury, unless they replace her with another lady.

Apparently he and GR were in jail at the same time. And, apparently the tractor thief has some info related to the case (or may just be saying he does in hopes of getting a break on his sentence). But Garcia is trying to decide if he wants this guy's testimony or not. John Hunt doesn't seem like an especially stellar member of the community. Long history of criminal offenses, we know, thanks to South Aussie's legwork.

I think he was wearing a sweatshirt that day, as police have it. Would he have had his lycra running shorts on with them, I wonder. Or too cold?

Not to mention his policeman friend and YMCA staff have already testified to seeing him at the Y at approximately the same time. He made a point of being noticed.
