I found this Florida marriage record from about a year and a half after John Joseph disappeared. Could this be him? Is it possible he staged his disappearance then left to start a new life? "IF" JJ staged his disappearance did he run off and eventually marry Melody? It'd be real nice if some of our genealogical sleuthers would see what they can find on him.

This possibility makes me wonder also if he's Delafield John Doe. John Joseph has such a crappy pic to use for comparison but the descriptive stats line up. I keep thinking of that lighter with "To John, Love Lauri" engraving. Was he married in NY? Did he previously know or perhaps meet a Lauri? Maybe his '73 marriage to Melody didn't work out and by '77 he'd made his way north to Illinois then WI where he perished in the auto accident.

I wish we had more info on him. A clipping or report from the boat discovery would be nice too. I wonder if he was actually seen on the water or the overturned boat was just happened upon by whomever discovered it? I have many more questions from my made-up scenario but I'll save them for later, if warranted. This is probably a super long, long shot but there's a reason John's still missing and Delafield JD is still unidentified. All of the above is speculation and/or moo.
