And we probably can't answer the questions because we don't think the way a criminal of this sort thinks.

I think it was a violent rape that ended in murder because it was so violent. I think the perp attacked because he could....and it started violently and ended violently without interruption.

JMOPINION at the moment

To add, IMO the violence was not just to subdue in order to get sex; the violence and brutality are all part of the "sex" - pervertedly intertwined. Sadly, I don't think there could be any reasoning with him once the attack started.

IDK, but I think it started violently and just kept going. I think it all was impulsive and out of control.

She fought back violently, and he (or they) escalated it.

No one needs to agree with me. That's okay. I think the attack was a random opportunity by someone already in the park.

Others have different hunches. Great - bring all ideas to the table.

I never said they didn't want her dead. I think she ended up dead. I don't think the perp thought that far ahead - he just attacked because he wanted to and because he could.

Here is an article about the press conference today with her parents. They said there are very strong leads!!!!


At a news conference, the parents of Karina Vetrano claimed there are "a number of very strong leads" and said "we feel that it's only going to be a matter of days before this can come to an end."

Oh man, I really hope that is true.

I know cases often take a long to time solve, but I don't want to pull out my patience for this one.

Seen a number of cases in which those convicted of their first rape and who don't murder their victim, do murder their next victim so as not to be identified because they do not want to be sent back to prison. Could this apply here?

Exactly. But I know LE would like to keep hush hush about it on their end. But I'm sure they have given the go ahead to the parents to say what they want as long as they don't blurt out his name. I think they are trying to build a case. Maybe get DNA somehow. Get something that will allow them to arrest him and question him.
The parents talk as if they know his sister knows something. Very interesting.

I'm not referring to any specific boyfriend, not her previous or first. Simply stating what I read that's all. I'm sure in her 30 years she didn't have 1 boyfriend.

I believe this happened before the trail of tears walk because that's when the family stated that if the killer turns himself in they promise that the money will go to the person of his choice. I think the reason NYPD is refuting the story is because the Vetrano's are "talking too much" to the public. Maybe they are trying to build a strong case and they don't want the suspect to be alerted that they are getting close to an arrest.
