Quoting myself. :)

Could locals chime in about the ease of travel from his place (where he lived with pregnant girlfriend) to the park where Karina was killed?

I don't know if he was still living in the Rockaways when Karina was killed, but it has been at least established that he lived there at the time of his most recent arrest. I'm thinking he would be familiar, also, with the A train that travels between the the two places...assuming I have my subway information correct and it's easy to connect from Rockaways to Howard Beach.
First photo shows that if he took train from home he could take it to Broad Channel stop get off and walk north and enter the park by the Crossbay bridge and never be seen on camera entering the park.

This photo shows he could continue on the A train and get off at the next stop after Broad channel and would have to walk on Crossbay Blvd to get to spring creek, or residential blocks and would be seen on surveillance possibly.

Sorry for my poor lines lol. The red dot is Spring creek park where KV was found. MTA has horrible maps lol.

I hope they release mugshot soon. Det Boyce would have noticed right away though if it matched the one for KV case, but, the sketch we have could possibly not even be KVs murderer.

These are great. So it IS possible that he could've gotten to Howard Beach easily from where he, at one time, lived. My guess (only a guess) is that he would've been familiar with the area, perhaps hanging out in the weeds.

I haven't seen any reference to FR's employment so who knows if he had his afternoons open to hang out....the Central Park case was in the evening, but not late night.

Until we hear for sure otherwise (or don't hear anything, I guess), I'm still considering this a good lead. The crimes are similar and we can establish that the Central Park perp spent time not far from where Karina was found, also in a park.

Compare the DNA, LE!!! (I'm sure they are.)

Don't NYPD swab for DNA upon arrest??
I know NCPD & SCPD do that. I would be very surprised if this dirtbag's DNA is not in the database.

Also, another similarity...he dragged his victim.

The dragging too caught my attention. One article says he told her not to scream or he'll cut her kneck..what if KV attacker told her the same..we just don't know. I'm not saying this is her killer but what if it is, say his only attempt was to steal her phone, then tried to rape her, then realized he killed her and ran, dropping the phone.

I so want her killer found, and things like this give me hope, but I won't get too excited. I hope they swabbed him right away this time and are comparing.

I'm trying not to have too much hope too....but the idea that there are TWO perps doing the same violent MO is really frightening. (I do realize rapes and attacks happen all the time.)

And...what's the possibility of two perps with very similar MOs each not being able to get an erection?

I just want to believe there is only one such monster, not two.

:(

The New York State DNA Databank Law and Qualifying Offenses:

The DNA Databank began limited operations in 1996. DNA samples were collected from individuals convicted of homicide and certain sex-related offenses. Since that time, the law that created the Databank has been amended five times to expand the number of crimes that require a DNA sample upon conviction.

The latest expansion took effect on August 1, 2012. Effective that date, offenses include all felonies in any state law and Penal Law misdemeanors. The law applies to any defendant convicted on or after August 1, 2012.

The law is not retroactive and does not apply to children involved in Family Court matters, to youthful offenders or to first-time offenders convicted of a specific subsection of fifth-degree marijuana possession (Penal Law Section 221.10, subsection 1).

Info about the case where the Central Park perp beat and raped his girlfriend in Queens.....https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20161013/arverne/central-park-rape-jogger-kidnapping-jail-arrest

"He kicked and punched her, leaving bruises on her legs, thighs, arms, stomach and a cut on her forehead, the woman told police. She later refused to cooperate with authorities several times and aspects of her story couldn't be corroborated without her, sources said"

Whether this is Karina's perp or not, he needs to be OFF the streets.

If I knew his history and priors...I wouldn't cooperate either. Chances are, he will be out on the streets in no time.

What's the reason (excuse) for no time for the statutory rape charges for sex with a 14 yo in 2013, the year before he raped and beat his 7 months pregnant GF?

<snip> In 2013, Richardson was arrested for statutory rape after he had sex with a 14-year-old girl in Harlem, cops said. Richardson was 22 at the time of the incident.

It's a new trend to give ZERO time to rapists, I've noticed.

What he's learned is how to manipulate the system.

Reported in NYDN that he has admitted to robbing the CP victim, but is denying that he sexual assaulted her. Also, he threatened to hurt himself which led to Bellevue psych evaluation/hospitalization.

Once he's arraigned, I expect we'll see a photo of him.

Since I can remember, never has been high enough prison sentencing for rape in NYC IMO.

Unless, of course the victim is also murdered.

No link, but think I usually read about 7 years, but don't know how many years are actually served.

It needs to change, but I'm not holding my breath

I've been lurking on Karina's case from the start and just thought I'd step on up and chime in.

The pix11.com link posted up thread states that FR attacked the woman at 9:30 pm. The NY Post and Daily News articles state it was 10:30 pm. Anyone know for sure?

And Karina was attacked at about 5:45 or so?

Don't think he's the guy. With his criminal record-which includes busts for rape in 2013 and 2014, I'm guessing his DNA would already be in the system. Also, the theft of the phone and the fact that he didn't destroy it doesn't seem to fit.

Was Karina's phone destroyed? I thought was either thrown or dropped but haven't heard it was destroyed (or I forgot).

I have no idea if the Central Park perp is the Howard Beach perp, but I'm holding onto hope until we know for sure.....I just really don't like the idea of TWO people out there hunting down females in parks. (And, yes, I know there are more than two monsters anyway.)

hmm, you never know? So many things match or don't, but then how many ways can a perp do that to a woman as she jogs?
